News video at CNN re: gambling under scrutiny. Report from casino person that Paddock would play Video Poker for 8 hours straight at $125/hand, Daily spending on that game mentions to be $100,000. Would really like to see this mans tax records to show when his windfall occurred, because you don't make enough money doing what he did for a short period of time. And, as far as the real estate investments go, you can't invest if you don't have the seed money and that isn't pocket change.

Just because one security guard said it didn't happen isn't debunking it. I worked security at festivals, it's possible he was completely unaware it occurred. So it's possible someone crazy said something or a woman did try to warn them.

Exactly!! As of right now, the police don't really appear to have any idea what the motive was and until this is completely flushed out, I am reserving judgment. I think it is important to soak up all information when things are this hazy. I am most concerned about the potential that other attacks were planned/ in motion based on the arsenal/ travel/ money/ etc involved.

Excellent question BEARS10. One argument could be the 100K was given as a gift, prior to any criminal act, so she gets to keep it. Someone else might argue that he owes money to the IRS and he was attempting to hide it by sending the money to a foreign country.
Hmmm....buys his gf a ticket, but tells cosmotologist "he would like to go, but can't"....
the law now requires the IRS to advise the State Department about seriously delinquent taxpayers. The State Department may then refuse to issue or renew a passport for a seriously delinquent taxpayer; the Secretary of State is also permitted to revoke any passport previously issued to a seriously delinquent taxpayer.
How can "motive" be found, when maybe even SP does not know what compelled him to commit this depravity? Maybe "motive" should be replaced with the term "cause/causes." Lots of subjects discussed: alcohol, valium, psychopath, paranoia etc.... surely many forensic psychologists are being consulted, as well as medical doctors, too.
Clumsiness....falling in the casino
High Blood Pressure....thought he was allergic to medicine and quit taking it...so he couldn't renew his pilot's license, per info from brother.

Paranoia, not interacting with people, personality beginning to change etc.. ..
"The most characteristic feature of BD is psychomotor slowness - an increase in the length of time it takes, for example, for the fingers to turn the thought of a letter into the shape of a letter on a piece of paper. Other symptoms include forgetfulness (but not as severe as the forgetfulness of Alzheimer's disease), changes in speech, an unsteady gait, clumsiness or frequent falls, changes in personality or mood (most likely in the form of apathy, irritability, and depression), and urinary symptoms that aren't caused by urological disease."

SP is dead, so I don't see a problem with trying to figure out what medical conditions he might have been experiencing. BD starts slowly in the 4th decade of life (in your 40's for simplicity) -- hypertension (high blood pressure) and alcohol are two factors that can exacerbate the progression.
Well, its 3am right now...and I still want to read more posts. G'night.

As far as we know, he didn’t have any speech irregularities, no TIAs, no incontinence, no random fainting. As I’ve said earlier in the thread, we know so little about him, you can shoehorn his behaviors into almost any mental health disorder.

Maybe MD had a joint account with a family member in Philippines? Because she occasionally sent them money? Otherwise, why would she have an account there? She is an Australian living in USA. ??????

?????
How could there not be anything placed on lockdown from listening to this there were periods where they thought a gang of people were running around shooting people on the main drag of LV??

There was a piece where they thought a car (they thought) was rigged with bombs in the valet area of Luxor??

They were worried about a movie theatre with a 1000 folks why would they not let anyone out from anywhere around there

during the assault I was blown away when I saw traffic passing right by the hotel while the shots were being fired

there was one of those buses that actually has another bus like connected to it cruising down as machine guns were firing

strange happenings

Could be that's how its done in Vegas.

he was a cruiser, wonder if he got a suite like I did a waste if you ask me except it was nice to have a jacuzzi and the balcony but not worth the money I paid. Question: Would that cinder block wall stop the bullets? How powerful are those bullets? Someone said they are designed to bounce around the body and cause not death but mame the soldier so it would take several other soldiers to tend to him thus taking out 3 for the price of one hit? Just another stupid question I have.

The cinder block wall would probably stop a standard .223 round from an AR-15. But we don't yet know the model of all the firearms that were being used and the exact type of ammunition. It's possible that some of the rounds fired in Las Vegas could penetrate a cinder block wall.

The bullets from an AR-15 or similar firearm are small but lethal. They travel at supersonic speed and can easily penetrate the walls of a house. Or go right through one victim and into another. Hiding behind a tent or a porta potty or inside a vehicle at the concert venue would provide no real protection.

The supersonic rounds also lead to confusion about the location of the gunman. A supersonic bullet fired from a rifle 400 years away that passes 25 yards to your right will make two bangs. One from the gasses escaping the muzzle of the rifle. The second is a sonic boom from the bullet as it passes you. Because that bullet is traveling much faster than sound you will hear the bang from your right before hearing the bang from the rifle. It will sound like a gunman is somewhere to your right and sound echoed off a building. If the next burst is to your left, it will sound like a second gunman somewhere to your left and another echo. The actual echos off of buildings and other objects make it even harder to figure out where the gunfire is coming from.

My thoughts exactly.

That is funny . No idea what card counting is .

Looked it up .

Cant follow for the life of me.

It is like those word problems

If Sally left San Fran at 928 going 52 mph and Henry left Boston at 1146 going 48 mph when would Sally and Henry meet.

First of all who cares ! However
in a nice simple overview what is card counting?

I thought he just played a lot of those video things no?

Card counting is when gamblers keep track of which cards are showing or have been played. It's a way to better your odds of winning. It's not illegal exactly, but Casino's will throw you out if you win too much doing that.

People came in so grievously injured and so many at a time that Fisher, who is the medical head of trauma services for the hospital, and his colleagues used markers, writing directly on patients, to do triage.

It did look a bit like a war zone, can't say that it didn't," he remembers. "Frantic families, blood in the hallways."

When someone arrived, an emergency room physician would mark their wounds.-impersonal by necessity.
"There's no paper charts prepared for all those patients," says Fisher. "No documentation, ......... Just write where the wounds are."
....
find all the damage the bullet, or bullets, had done.

....bullet does terrible things to a body. "It tears the tissue, it rips the tissue, it bruises the tissue as it goes through," says Fisher.

.. saw people with wounds all over their bodies. "Literally everywhere," he says. "We had people shot in the head, shot in the spine, chest abdomen, extremities.

..... gunman fired from above, and from a distance, into a crowd of about 20,000 people and "a lot of the gunshot wounds went side to side, \
.... in addition to the controlled chaos of triage and the sheer volume of patients, the counting of gunshot wound victims gets even more complicated.

And even counting the total number of people treated at any given facility is challenging.
http://www.npr.org/sections/health-...of-casualties-makes-las-vegas-count-difficult

On Wednesday, Sunrise Hospital revised the total number of patients it had treated down — from 214 to 200, of whom 16 died and 29 were still in critical condition. Of those, the hospital estimates about 120 had gunshot wounds, but did not release an exact figure.

58 patients remained in critical condition on Wednesday

317 people were discharged from hospitals as of Wednesda

Card-counting is mainly for blackjack style games where multiple decks are used. Poker uses a single deck. It would make no sense to card count. You can look at any visible cards to you and see what is left to play...

I think it's safe to say that the guy was profoundly antisocial and so paranoid that it is hard to believe he would have trusted anyone with whom to conspire. Obviously, the girlfriend was useful, but apparently he didn't fully trust her, either........same with the brother. They enjoyed the money and flattered him to keep on the receiving end, while never questioning the how and why of Big Daddy. JMO..........Let Paddock be Paddock and indeed, he ultimately exercised that freedom to do what he wanted to do.

I must be missing something. I'm trying to keep up, please forgive if these have been answered. Where did Danley take all the stuff she packed? Have they found a storage unit anywhere? I was under the impression they found only firearms and such at his Reno and Mesquite locations.

The neighbor said Paddock moved out mid-August and was followed shortly afterwards by Ms Danley, who had spent three days packing her belongings into, and on top of, her car. That was six weeks ago. She leaves the country, and arrives in Tokyo.

For argument's sake, let's say she leaves the home, in Reno, on August 15th, and puts her things in a storage unit or with family. Flying out of Reno is much cheaper. St. George UT is the closest airline to Mesquite and it's very pricey. SP was said to be cheap, per the hookers, and had mentioned finding her a cheap flight. It's about a 17-26 hour flight, to Tokyo, depending which airport she ended up flying out of, the time, etc...

What date did she fly out of the United States?
I cannot understand why, at this juncture, that no one seems sure of when she flew out of the U.S. Where was she between the time she left Reno and when she boarded for Tokyo?

Why would she say he found her a cheap trip to visit family in the Philippines? I don't think it was to protect her, was she not already in Hong Kong? She flew to the Philippines after Tokyo, then continues;

She left the U.S. for Tokyo - Unknown Date
She left Tokyo and arrives in Manila, Philippines - 09/15/2017
She left Manila and arrived in Hong Kong - 09/22/2017
She left Hong Kong and arrives back in Manila - 09/25/2017

Could part of her trips have been about business matters?

I believe you have the timeline wrong. What I saw reported is that she flew to the Philippines, spent some time with family, took a quick trip to Tokyo, then back to the Philippines. It was covered in an earlier post how quick and cheap a trip from the Philippines to Tokyo is.

My only issue with this statement is that .223 rounds actually have fairly terrible terminal ballistics because they start to tumble when they impact. It seems kind of counterintuitive with such a high-powered round, but it’s actually one of the safer rounds to use when overpenetration is a concern. As for concrete walls, the rule is normally 6” of solid material (or sand) provides cover.

Trying to understand why it sounds so different than other events like this
But what are you listening to? Can you provide a link because your description sounds different from what I listened to.

What I read is not that they asked one security guard but that they checked with the entirety of concert security that night through the security firm.

Hello, I'm a newbie to this forum. Have been lurking for awhile though, but decided to join today. I just wanted to give my insight into the kind of relationship that I think Stephen Paddock might have had with Marilou Danley, and why I'm not surprised that she might have been left in the dark when it came to her bf's plans to commit mass murder. Having grown in a Filipino household, and having been surrounded by women similar to Marilou who have had foreigner 'caucasian' boyfriends, most of these women aren't really treated as equals. The kind of men that they tend to attract are sadly those who believe women are subservient to men. Filipino women have been taught to put their husbands and their family's needs above their own, and yes, having money can be a huge factor in why they would put up with mistreatment from their partners. I'm not saying that Marilou was a mail order bride, but let's just say that I wouldn't be surprised if she originally was. I also think Stephen Paddock probably viewed and treated Marilou almost like a child, and I have a feeling he controlled the narrative in their relationship. Because of colonial mentality, and probably lack of confidence, I don't think Marilou ever asked questions or interfered with any of Stephen's plans. Filipinos tend to try not to rock the boat, it's a cultural trait.

Yes, Marilou probably could communicate in English very well, having lived in English speaking countries for a long period of time, but I can guarantee that there is still some sort of communication barrier there. Filipinos are well known to communicate in English quite well, but there is still a significant difference between someone who is a Native born speaker versus someone who considers English as their second language. Filipinos who grew up in the Philippines tend to take things 'literally', they have difficulty understanding puns, word plays, or innuendos unless they were very well educated in the English language from a young age.

Furthermore, just wanted to add that I don't find it unusual that Stephen Paddock would send money over to Marilou in the Philippines. Filipinos are well known to send money to their families, and I know a few foreigner men married or in relationships with Filipino born women who have sent money over to their wives or gfs relatives. The huge amount of money sent over might have been uncommon, but the actual practice itself isn't. Also, Marilou having a bank account in the Philippines despite not being a Filipino citizen anymore is also not strange. My mother is not a Filipino citizen either but she has a bank account in the Philippines, it just makes it easier for her to store her money safely and access it conveniently whenever she goes there on holidays. As for Stephen being influenced by terrorist groups in the Philippines, though that may be a possibility, i think it is highly unlikely unless he has visited or come into contact with Muslim extremists from the southern part of the country. From what I've read Marilou originated from the North, she most likely is Christian Catholic, which the majority of the country is. But all this is just my speculation, she might very well have been in the know or was an accomplice to his plans. Just wanted to share my perspective.

For anyone interested here’s a link to a decent test of .223 and other ammunition versus drywall:

http://how-i-did-it.org/drywall/results.html

The .223 rounds in general didn’t penetrate more than a sheet the majority of the time. Some fragments penetrated the second sheet, but just peppered the third sheet. Most handgun and other ammo had significantly better ballistics.

Edit: sorry, sloppy language on my behalf. When I say sheet, I meant their simulated walls.
