What would you estimate to be the value of his purchases, based upon what we know.. I know we dont know much about his purchases or his entire collection, but I actually have no clue at all what these things cost?

Ammo, guns, mags, weapon accessories, $75k easy. Don't know what kind of PPE he had, nor what kind of electronic equipment, cameras, laptops... Probably somewhere near $100k for everything if I were to take a complete shot in the dark.

If he was in charge, why would he have to ask the FBI guy if it was ok to release the number of cell phones the shooter's room?
Did he?
I imagine it is because a major event draws on a whole lot of specialised skills, these are farmed out to agencies specialising in that field. It is highly likely feds have charge of telecommunications tracings.. they have a lot of expertise in that area and if they are engaged by LE thats probably one of their jobs, so professional courtesy would require that he ask. They take sOLE charge of an aspect, just as forensics would take sole charge of victims and alleged killer remains.

I don't know where you got your info, but the initial reports said that he shot himself with a "black and silver revolver", which probably would use standard hand gun ammunition. I have not seen any mention of any .308 caliber weapons being used in the attack. All of the weapons shown in the available photos appear to be .223 (5.56 x 45) caliber. All the empty casings on the floor appear to be .223 (5.56 x 45) caliber. A .223 (5.56 x 45) caliber bullet is actually very small. It's almost the same diameter as a standard .22 rifle round, but it is typically longer and heavier. The reason it causes so much damage is because of the high velocity of the bullet--often over 3,000 fps at the muzzle. At that speed, the rounds would have taken less than a second to arrive and would still be moving at ~1,500 fps 400 yards away. Compare that to the velocity of a 9mm pistol round at the muzzle (~1,200 fps).

There were some large-frame rifles present in the photos. The Daniel Defense rifle with the bipod that's on its side in one of the photos is a .308.

I would estimate each rifle + accessories to be about $2,500. Looks like he also had several thousands of dollars worth of spare magazines and ammunition. For the 23 weapons he had with him that night, that puts us under 75K. Seems like that kind of money was pocket change to this guy.

Thanks for the clarification!

The best rationale I've heard for the .308 being used, is it's what he was shooting at the fuel tanks with since they were at the edge of the max effective range of the 5.56/.223 weapons.

WOW.. thank you for that!
I wonder whether there was a specific reason for his liquidating assets the year before? Is there a record of any major purchases? like, buildings, in past 12 months?
There may not be.. yachts can be purchased for cash.. as can small planes..
The Sheriff stated he was hiding, even in death.
What did he mean by that?
Hidden, Occult?
They must have combed pretty much everything by now, yet they know nothing, as Cariis mentioned in an earlier post today, its not as if they have anything to lose by making it public at this stage... if indeed it was really a one man operation, one man carrying out his own wishes for his own reasons..
Feds seeking 'truth'... antithetical much?

Did he?

I took the sheriff knowing he is not going there and turning it over to FBI is cause it directly relates to who was he talking to , if anyone , in the days before .

That data IMO is huge - could tell the whole story actually -- bury it.

Surprising -- confirmation of gun residue on his hands might be helpful moo

It would hurt Vegas business to have cops and tape everywhere. As for the evidence of bullet damage, perhaps that is minimal because most either hit bodies or the concert venue lot, not the streets?

I figured it was only time before this came to light. I think the reason for the discrepancy in the timeline was to reduce liability for Mandalay. Who does this???

LE covering for the Hotel?

The media coverage inspires psychopaths.
There must be a way to inform the public and NOT sentimentalism for the clicks/ratings.
Thats the big debate right now.. We can loosely call them names and the sheriff did actually describe him as a psychopath in the early days, but the nature of an event like this causes publicity and oftentimes thats its aim.
again, a helluva lot comes down to rationale for this specific event.
was he merely a mercenary, paid by some 'other' to carry out this act on their behalf?
Or was he really acting alone?
The public have a right to know is my belief. Not to know operational details of an investigation, but a right to knowledge that will serve to protect themselves and their families and communities.
Double edged sword.. iSIS loves publicity, they feed off it like blood sucking vampires.. its a fine balancing act... a discussion that will continue for very many years.
Its also up to the public to inform themselves of trustworthy media sources, the papers that will invest in journalists, not only travelling to war torn areas, but also living and being there until they get a good handle on local dynamics..good contacts and earn a place of trust in those communities.
My favourites are a couple of US media sources. I know their work and I know some of them personally so I trust what they're saying and doing.
They also demonstrate a humility to ask for help when they need it..

I absolutely agree. I want to know the truth but want to see the media take this seriously and stop promoting it like an exciting reality tv show.
Natural Born Killers made social commentary warning against media sensationalism.

If I recall correctly, the press conferences for Pulse were handled primarily by FBI as speaking for LE.
I'm surprised they're taking a back seat here durings the pc's.
Could it be that local Sheriff is wanting to 'protect' the hotel and perhaps FBI would not accomodate that?
