"On Monday, Mitchell's attorney told CNN that Matt gave Mitchell pills that he claimed would incapacitate Lyle, but that Mitchell had no idea what they were exactly, and destroyed them.

The attorney, Stephen Johnston, said, as he has in the past, that his client was never part of a plan to harm Lyle."

Lemme rewrite that for us to be clear :floorlaugh:

"Matt gave Mitchell pills that he claimed would incapacitate Lyle..... client was never part of a plan to harm Lyle."

FGS she accepted them under the thought it would incapacitate him, but wasn't part of plan to harm? :notgood: ... not buying that spin Mr. Defense Atty. Bad spin which reflects back on her participation that she took possession of them knowing it would incapacitate him, try again.

ETA: Reminds me of a class that I took in Contract Law, whereby if someone ACTED WITH the other person to further the contract as to if the contract existed, it DID! She took possession of those pills with the explicit knowledge it was to incapacitate him. :notgood: That her defense is she balked as she didn't know WHAT the pills were to incapacitate him. And for her to flush them just 'cause she didn't know what knock out drug it was... pffffft.

Agreed! Why did she accept the pills if she didn't want to harm her husband, and why not turn them over to the authorities to find out what they were???

Yeah, it could be that the statement that they were to incapacitate Lyle was only said after he was apprehended.... so my original statement is off I guess. But to your point, why accept ANY pills to give her husband etc. What did she think they were..... Viagra? :floorlaugh:

If they were Viagra everyone would have needed them for her. She should have kept them.

Maybe she knew that they would do more than just incapacitate him & that's why she got rid of the pills!

I watched an illuminating NatGeo documentary series, Hard Time, last week on TV. Several situations seemed apropos: one Lifer had his account zeroed by restitution; the go-to guy for legal stuff, who was spending an undue amount of time in the law library without permission, was found out; theft of commissary stuff the moment an inmate leaves the commissary; making hooch; trafficking in coffee....

The other luuuurvely concept I herd this week..... The inmate who escaped in NY? Sweat? He's been put in a cell that he doesn't even need to be taken out of for a shower. He has a special shower in the cell that's programmed from the guards' control desk. Maybe access to the rec yard is by remote control as well?

Come on y'all...she threw those pills away because she was saving Lyle's life. She didn't meet them because she was saving Lyle's life...she's a heroine! It's true love!!

Wondering if that includes these CCF COs:

<snip>

Captured fugitive David Sweat also denied having any dirty jailhouse sex with the dumpy sewing-shop supervisor but said she once performed oral sex on fellow escapee Richard Matt, according to law enforcement sources.

Sweat claimed several guards at the Clinton Correctional Facility told him that Mitchell performed the same sex act on them, the sources said.

Gotta love all those LE sources leaking soo many details in this case! Just catching up now. Hopefully, they've been ordered to put a lid on it.

So it looks as though the Sheriff may have been correct in that Sweat (mostly) & Matt would have needed many hacksaw blades to get the job done. The DA had been selling that the only blades that had come in to the cons were via frozen burger meat unknowingly by Palmer.

Now we learn that other/more hacksaw blades were handed to the cons in between cardboard that Tillie, What?, ordered Palmer or other COs to give to Matt/Sweat for their paintings?

What...were they taped in between heavy pieces of cardboard? Palmer noticed nothing heavy about the cardboard?

Are these cardboard pieces behind the paintings that were in the manilla envelopes labelled NAACP that were found buried underneath the pile of leaves where Palmer ditched some of them while an investigation had begun? Would the cardboard backed paintings even fit in the manilla envelopes, or would they have been too thick?

<snip>

But that was not the only way hacksaw blades ended up in the hands of Matt and Sweat, whose greatest challenge was cutting the holes through their cell walls. They wore out the blades, and more were needed.

An artistic maneuver

The problem was solved by slipping fresh blades into sheets of cardboard from boxes Mitchell took apart and had sent to Matt’s cell. Corrections officers thought they were delivering cardboard for him to use as the backing of paintings and sketches he created and sometimes gave away.
Corrections Officer Gene Palmer stands accused of tampering with evidence for allegedly destroying paintings he received from Matt.

To hide the holes in the cell walls, which were close to the floor, sheets of the cardboard were painted gray and placed in front of the holes.

It's bordering on the ridiculous now to be believable IMO

Glad this has ended, too. So there must be another manner or method to deliver lunch, dinner, snacks, or food to the COs who have to do double shifts in the guard tower rather than hoisting a bucket, basket or bag down to the street below. Many outside of the CCF thought so:

<snip>

A new superintendent at Clinton Correctional Facility has been named. The state has also ordered protocol changes, including not delivering lunch in a bag hoisted up to the guard towers.

I'm sorry but every time I see Lyle's attorney's name Dumas I see Dumbass :facepalm:

<snip>

But Mitchell, who has been arrested on charges she helped the inmates, did not require much coaxing. She went out of her way to make sure Matt and Sweat were in the good graces of prison staffers by giving away sweets.

“It’s almost nonsensical. She baked brownies and cookies and gave them to other staffers, hoping they would be lenient on Matt and Sweat,” the law enforcement official said.

It's not "almost nonsensical": It's nonsense and LE, the COs and the Admins know it!!

I'm sorry but every time I see Lyle's attorney's name Dumas I see Dumbass :facepalm:

There used to be a really funny commercial about that- the prospective employers' name was Dumass- pronounced Du mas, the guy walking in for the job says, "Nice to meet you Mr. Dumb *advertiser censored*"!
