New York law targets protests outside courthouses

If protesters gathering in New York City in support of Trump want to stay out of legal trouble they might want to make sure they are more than 200 feet away from the Manhattan courthouse where his arraignment takes place on Tuesday.

That’s because there’s a New York state law that criminalizes various activities around state courthouses, including efforts to influence proceedings inside.

[...] anyone can be prosecuted for criminal contempt in the second degree if they are within 200 feet of a courthouse and make comments "concerning the conduct of a trial being held in such courthouse or the character of the court or jury engaged in such trial or calling for or demanding any specified action or determination by such court or jury in connection with such trial.”

Trump camp says they've raised $7 million since indictment news broke

Megan Lebowitz
Trump campaign advisor Jason Miller said on Twitter that Trump's presidential campaign has raised $7 million since news of the indictment broke.

NBC News cannot independently verify those claims because candidates are not required to file federal campaign finance reports until April 15.

Miller has previously advised Trump's campaign but had a stint as CEO of the right-leaning social media platform GETTR before coming back to Trump's campaign for the 2024 re-elect.

Same old story of using campaign finances to fund your defense lawyers.

Even the poll posted here earlier via CNN, showed that something like 71% of the pollsters agreed that this is entirely politically motivated.

Most people still support it.

CNN Poll: Majority of Americans approve of Trump indictment

(CNN) Sixty percent of Americans approve of the indictment of former President Donald Trump, according to a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS following the news that a New York grand jury voted to charge him in connection with hush money payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. About three-quarters of Americans say politics played at least some role in the decision to indict Trump, including 52% who said it played a major role.

This includes myself. If Trump wasn't planning to run in 2024, I don't honestly think any of this would be happening.

ETA: For more accurate info on that poll located here DocumentCloud

TABLE 005 Question 5 5. How big a role, if at all, do you think politics played in the decision to indict Trump?
Base: Total Respondents

The actual response was on average, 76% said yes, politics played a role.

Well haven't all the investigations into him been going on since before he announced his intention to run? So when he was actively the president, they would all say that you can't bring charges against a sitting president. Now that he's not president, you can't bring charges now or it's politically motivated. The DA didn't charge him. A jury of citizens brought the indictment. Sure, the jury could be politically motivated but I don't see how that can be known.

Yeah, I was wrong. It wasn't 71% thought it was political. It was 76%.

I didn't mean you were wrong. It's that most people still support it.

The polls right now are still a bit premature though. The more informative poll will be of opinion of the case after it's all over.

Even opinion during a trial can be very different than after a trial (like those Law & Crime polls during the Murdaugh trial).

I don't really put much stock into polls though, to be honest. It all depends on who the audience is.

FOX, CNN, MSNBC, Daily Wire and 10 others could all put the exact same poll out there, and the numbers (depending on the questions) would most certainly reflect completely different percentages, simply based on the audience.

Trump's journey to NY: Step three - from LaGuardia to Trump Tower

We expect Donald Trump to arrive at LaGuardia Airport any minute now. From there, he’ll head to Trump Tower in Manhattan where he’ll meet with his legal team before spending the night in his penthouse that spans the top three floors of the skyscraper.

He has a couple of options when it comes to travelling there - helicopter or car. If it’s the latter, it will be about a 40-minute drive through Queens, over the East River and then into Manhattan.

Given the fact he’s a former president and a large number of Secret Service agents will be travelling with him, we’d expect to see a large motorcade of vehicles. There may be a police escort, too.

The journey will no doubt be quicker if Trump chooses to fly. He does own a personal helicopter, and the BBC’s US partner CBS understands that it is available to fly him to Manhattan.

Trump tends to think the exact opposite of his attorneys. Always see mixed messages between them.
You see mugshots released left and right in other States but NY is different. Some type of privacy law about releasing them. Strange.

So now we have Trump's mugshot debate. Rest assured, someone will leak it out into SM.

What's the latest?

As we've been reporting, Donald Trump's private plane - dubbed Trump Force One - has landed in New York. The former president will now prepare for his appearance on Tuesday in the courtroom as both a defendant and a candidate. Here's a quick recap of events so far today:
  • Trump has flown to New York and is expected to spend the night in Trump Tower
  • On Tuesday, he'll hand himself over to the authorities sometime before 14:15 (18:15 GMT), when his hearing is due to begin in Manhattan
  • He'll turn himself in at the Manhattan District Attorney's office
  • The charges - which relate to hush money paid to former p-o-rn star Stormy Daniels - will be put to him on Tuesday afternoon
  • We still don't know the exact charges, but his lawyers have said he will plead not guilty
  • Trump’s then scheduled to fly back to Florida, where he has said he'll make an address to some of his supporters at 20:15 local time
  • He is the first ex-president to face criminal charges in the US

What? The fundraising?
I think creating and monetizing false outrage is normal for team Trump; they're quite good at it.
I’m not sure how false that outrage is. Some of it is from people that think this is politically motivated. The poll linked throughout this thread shows 76% of Americans think politics played at least some part. That 76% makes up more than just Conservatives imo.
