I wonder if SCPD is officially separating SG from the gilgo case because someone (Gilbert family lawyer) is filing a suit against SCPD for the handling of the SG case.

Or, in dealing with an unofficial POI, say CPH, the poi's attorney say's "You can't question my client about the victims found off of ocean parkway, he has nothing to do with that case. He is only marginally connected to the SG case, so unless you can prove there is a connection between the two, we will sue for harassment blah blah"

maybe LE was asking them things like, "Did you treat Jessica Taylor's boyfriend in the ER for a fractured bone at central suffolk hospital in Riverhead while working in that ER in 2003?"

To which CPH and hence CPH's lawyer would need to get "legally proactive".

I just saw the update on the news, and I'm really irritated with the SCPD.

1) No (blip) Sherlock, it was one killer! Okay, strange things happen in this world, but really...what is the likelihood that several SK's are going to be operating and dumping bodies in the same place? It's not impossible, but not likely. I wonder - do they just say these things to throw people off for awhile while they investigate? Because I always thought that was downright stupid.

2) Bull_ that SG's disappearance is not connected. I say BS! (sorry for my choice of words in this post! I'm just really angry about all this!) I have to wonder again - do they really think this, or are they trying to throw people off for awhile? It is just WAY TOO COINCIDENTAL. And I'm sorry, I don't believe that coincidences of that magnitude happen very often, if at all.

Dormer says (with regard to SG's disappearance and his belief that it is not connected to the SK) "the MO is completely different, the scenario is completely different." Well, of course it would be different if there was no original intention of killing SG! The only thing that the "different MO" and "different scenario" might eliminate is the possibility that she was targeted from the beginning as a victim, that she was brought there with the intention of victimizing her. Is it not highly possible that the SK didn't intend for her to be a victim, but something happened while she was there that "necessitated" a change in plan e.g perhaps she saw or discovered something that made her flip out, and that her flip-out "necessitated" silencing her? How can they talk about MO and scenarios being "different" when what went down that night was obviously not planned, and was so bizarre?

It feels like they have no idea what they are doing. Can't they bring someone else in to work on this case, someone with some brains? I'm glad it's at least back in the news, but they HAVE to get this guy and resolve this, and I'm getting fed up. And I want them to find out what happened to poor Shannen once and for all. Maybe they are afraid of liability, after hanging her out to dry that night and thereafter.

Keep in mind that the profilers from the BSU in Quantico, Virginia are working on this case. Press conference statements are intentionally designed and scripted. Perhaps the idea of big dumb, clueless, chief of police in front of the camera will boost the sk's ego.

It's that whole good cop--bad cop schtick; only in this case it's dumb cop and even dumber police chief. It's a great idea to get the sk to think he is so smart--so smart until he is stupid and he makes a mistake. That's what we want.

I've posted before about his Order of Protection related to a divorce (Protective Orders require violence in the home).

Prior history of violence towards women is almost a hallmark of SKs.

I'll also add that his Wikipedia page indicates that he is the son of a longshoreman. What cloth material was a longshoreman around constantly in the 60s? Burlap.

I hate to be a pin prick and pop the balloon, but the SK makes racially derogatory remarks about black people and mix-breeds. I have seen photos of SY being very, very chummy with a very attractive african woman. (On his facebook many months ago) And let's not even get into what the SK thinks about prostitutes, we have statements from him that clearly represent him as someone who has an unhealthy disdain for girls in the "business".

SY on the other hand is a documented and known lover of escorts around the world, and posted his real name in connection with such activities on utopiaguide or that other sexguide website (credit to you on that one inspector) So would this sly SK who is killing prostitutes put his real name and hotel room number on such a site 5+ years ago if his purpose in hiring said escorts was nefarious, I think not.

Also, why would SY's victim selection process change significantly after 2006? His ability to select victim's who no one misses and no one seems to be able to identify was certainly a good one prior to 2007. Why switch to local craigslist ads? There must be a reason the SK made this switch.

The SK's access to a pool of perfect victims stopped after 2006, and he had to resort to craigslist which has proved not very successful at finding victims who no one looks for and no one can identify.

I for one can't reconcile such opposing behaviors coming from the same person. We also have no reason to be sleuthing SY as he has never been mentioned in the media with reference to this case.

The Commissioner of the Suffolk County Police Dept. is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the elected County Executive. It's time to make room for a new political hack lackey in the John L Barry Police HQ building. Remember that we have both a county police department and a county sheriff's office plus numerous other law enforcement agencies; town/village police, state troopers, transit police, park police, etc. Law enforcement in Long Island is extremely political. Politicians run the police forces, not the cops.


I still think that they have no idea what to do with this case. In my view they are no closer than they were a year ago, in fact the bodies discovered in April (the 16 month old baby and the crossdressing Asian guy) probably set them back even further.

yeah...I tried craigslist for awhile.but that was treacherous.and I missed the fun of chasing my hobby down an alley with my car so I went back to that...

you know I still have this vision of him spending many hours in his car...

my thoughts now are....

yes, it's easy to find flesh on Craigslist but it also creates a footprint...also may have been more horsepoop involved in having alot of phone calls and arranging and picking up and drivers...

maybe the girls aren't as pretty on the streets...but the streets are a better choice for a multitude of reasons.

I know he uses his car and once these girls are in that car they are trapped.

I wonder why police couldn't get a search warrant for all the vehicles in that cul-de-sac..

wonder what kind of lock mechanism CPH has on his vehicle...

I know one thing..this is probably the only place where he could be successful against a physically fit young woman or man...think about it.

Something I didn't have a good grasp on until the holiday weekend was that ALL of the 10 victims prior to the SK turning to craigslist (2007+) are still unidentified (except jessica taylor, thanks detective in DC), this means that they were all people that likely never had a missing person report filed for them. That's 9 out of 10 unidentified pre 2007.

All of the victims from 2007 on were quickly identified and were people who had missing persons reports filed for them. Likely they were all from craigslist.
That is 4 out of 4 identified post 2006.

This is a significant change in victims and should be taken into account.
So what changed after 2006 and why is the question. My best guess is that it is related to the fact that CPH's license to practice emergency medicine ended in 2006, hence he no longer had access to emergency rooms or hospitals and no longer had an excuse to be out all night (night shift) so had to switch to a quick and dirty method, craigslist and no time for dismembering.

Thanks for the link, now I remember that particular tidbit. This got me thinking though, Truth. It doesn't sound to me that these calls were predominantly racially charged. This seems to be the only "racial" comment, and it isn't as racist as it could have been.

In fact, my guess is that the word "half-breed" is used regularly on escort/sex websites by escorts of mixed ethnicity, probably to seem more exotic. Try googling something like "halfbreed" and "escort" and you'll see people referring to themselves with that term. That's probably where this psycho got the word from.

But it doesn't seem like this is a racist SK.
