I know it could be up to a year before the NTSB completes its findings, but is this time frame also true for what's now been retrieved from the voice recorder?

An NTSB spokesperson said,

“An initial readout of the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) was conducted at NTSB’s recorder laboratory in Washington, DC on January 9, 2017. The review indicated that the CVR worked normally, and the entire accident flight was captured on the recording. The NTSB will convene a CVR group that will consist of NTSB and other technical experts that will develop a detailed, written transcript of the sounds recorded by the CVR. Examination of the CVR and other physical evidence that is still being recovered is ongoing, and factual documentation will be released later in the NTSB’s investigation.”

Crews find ‘significant pieces’ of missing plane, additional human remains

As for the search today, the city says vessels from the Cleveland Division of Fire and the Salvage Chief from Underwater Marine Contractors are heading out to search the area again. Divers and sonar are aboard the vessels. Right now the National Transportation Safety Board is analyzing the cockpit voice recorder that was recovered from the plane

Teams have also recovered portions of the fuselage, an engine, several seats, a wheel and a canopy with window attached.

Man claims strange light appeared over Lake Erie (repeatedly, night after night) right in the middle of the search area.
Dated 5+ years before this unfortunate, latest air-crash.

Remains of possibly up to four people have been found.
So far, divers have located the cockpit voice recorder which captured the entire flight, part of the fuselage, several seats including one with male remains, and an engine from the business jet. Crews have narrowed their search down to a football field sized-section near Cleveland's lakefront.
Despite the sluggish search officials said several significant pieces of debris were brought up Wednesday, including the Ares box - which has been given to the FAA - and the left wing of the plane.

Searchers on Thursday also found more debris believed to be from the plane, officials said.
Divers have found the jet's cockpit voice recorder, seats, part of the fuselage, an engine cover and the left wing, in addition to the human remains. A box that records mechanical information on the plane - but isn't crash-proof - also was found and sent to federal investigators.

Thanks Spellbound. This is good news.

I highlighted a little differently the key things that struck me as most important.

They are making good progress now and it wont be long now till all they need is brought up.

http://www.aviationpros.com/news/12294639/divers-in-lake-erie-recover-remains-from-plane-crash

Divers Wednesday recovered another device that records mechanical data on the aircraft. However, the device is not crash-resistant and officials couldn't say what information it would provide.

Officials didn't know whether Fleming, the presumed pilot, had the aircraft de-iced before taking offer. Weather conditions were cold with snow and gusting winds.
"It's a decision made by the pilot whether to de-ice," airport Director Khalid Bahhur.
Divers will return to the debris field at the bottom of the lake Friday. Officials said they would consult with the families before deciding when to halt the recovery operation.

[h=1]Special salute from USS Cod will honor plane crash victims Saturday[/h]
According to a press release from the City of Cleveland, Saturday afternoon between noon and 1 p.m., a gun salute with six shots will be fired from the USS Cod in honor and memory of the Fleming and Casey families.

If water conditions allow, vessels and crews will run a tow fish sonar over the debris field on Saturday. This will be done, according to city officials, to gather information and identify locations of the remaining debris.

Sonar images will be analyzed over the weekend and used to create a targeted dive plan that is expected to continue Tuesday morning. At that time -- if weather conditions allow-- divers will examine the remaining debris to see if it needs to be recovered.

Any pilots here? If so, what's likely happening in the cockpit at approximately 30 seconds to 1 min into flight? Are "wheels-up" automatic or pilot controlled? Would a change be occurring from pilot to autopilot?? Maybe these are ridiculous questions??

As a youngster I spent many a Sunday afternoon as a passenger on small aircraft... mostly Cessna 172s, and a Piper Cub, etc... loved it! (Thanks for the experience, dad!) But those are a far cry different than these speedy jets.

Thank you, Okie. I came on here to post this link to a story I just read about the body found and read your post with link.

http://www.wfmj.com/story/34262893/autopsy-planned-for-human-remains-found-along-lake-erie-shoreline

Note the 4th sentence/paragraph down that reads, "There is now word on whether the discovery is linked to the deadly crash of a small airplane in Lake Erie, near Cleveland last month."

I was so relieved to read this I couldn't understand why there was nothing stating who the unidentified person was upon reading the remainder of the article. Hey - I'm smart (I'm a former legal secretary) - didn't take long to figure out the writer put a "w" on the word "no." What a difference a letter makes, eh?

My fault ... I expect way too much of journalism/proof-reading these days.

Anyhow, thank you for your ACCURATE post.
