I always have found that peculiar. That until then life went on for the Wagners as if nothing had happened.
They were putting in a new barn and a new chicken coop for the kids and they had a
wide variety of livestock, new baby pigs, a huge vegetable garden, nice planned out country themed decorations, a patio with fire pit, flower gardens, etc...
Angie made it clear she loved her farm. She was even posting recipes and showing off lots of photos, including grandkids in the photos.
"Just a few farm photos. This is our family, our life. We just love it!!!
Thank you God!!!"
"Our beautiful farm, everything is turning green, winter projects are getting finished..."
"just awesome...."
"Well almost done. Can't wait to be able to move our animals into the new barn."
"The kid's chickens love their new house."
Then suddenly it all changed. Suddenly she was giving up the farm she loved. The farm she said she hated to give up. The farm she called home and made money from. She had to give it up "due to family matters."
"Well, as badly as I hate to I am selling my breeding stock. Family matters have taken preference over my homestead heard."
Defiance Farms
This goes to go the Peterson Rd. Defiance Farms Facebook
Something happened in the investigation that caused the Wagners to give up the lucrative Peterson Road Farm even though
BCI didn't suspect them yet.
My best guess is BCI setting up their command center in Waverly and vowing not to leave until the case was solved. At that point the Wagners realized they misjudged the LE response to the case.
That instead of it being a local Pike County homicide case, it became an entire State of Ohio case with the Attorney General and BCI involved. Also, the SM on the case was enormous and not going away as Angie discovered when she couldn't control the SM narrative in the Facebook groups.
The Wagners got worried about being caught because it finally sunk in:
This isn't going away. This wasn't turning into a cold case. There was no going back to normal life. Murder investigations do not end, this would go on for the rest of their lives, the
looking over their shoulders.
Better to be in a position of being able to run and hide then to be stuck on a farm with dozens of livestock.
