I agree the control/custody was huge. But per reports, there’s more. Otherwise, I think DeWine would state the case is closed, it was over custody. Rather than “custody played a part/role”.

If in fact this was solely about a pending custody battle, it's just amazing 4 people thought it would be okay to wipe out an entire family.

If the entire issue is about custody, I think the Ws really wanted to move to Alaska. I think they didn't want to leave S behind and they were pressuring the mother to give her up without a legal battle, because of the statutory rape deal. When she told them to them to get bent then the slaughter took place. IMO

I think the W’s would have countered with the pot grow op’. If statuatory rape charges were revealed during the time DR had a minor child in her custody, that’d open a whole new can of worms. As in CPS would make home visits . Idk if Rs wanted a lot of strange, authoritative figures dropping by.

Seems like all the young couples I know it’s normal for them to share passwords, check their SOs phone to be sure there’s no cheating, etc. IMO, it’s part of the immaturity going on in an immature puppy-love relationship. In my entire 32 marriage, I never answered my husbands phone or looked thru his contacts. But, we weren’t 15 & 20. Just sayin’.

Same. We don't even get $ out of each others billfolds without asking. I know that with my kids age group, boundaries blur with significant others. They give them FB passwords, phone codes, safe combos, etc... Lots of personal space is encroached upon, and then when they split, not everyone thinks to change their passcodes, and/or not everyone chooses a passcode that is un-guessable. Then they're like , when their stuff is lurked on, or worse. People don't think like businesses, which do take care of those issues when someone leaves, and even change up all the locks, to all physical doors, to which that that individual may have even had a key.

I can agree with that. I have two boys of my own, and more coming. I just think JW wanted an easily controlled girl to make his wife and have babies with. He thought he had that with HR. I think she got sick of his ways and wanted out. Not necessarily to be with anyone else, just to be free of them.

I have a feeling that too many folks moved into the Peterson home and the girls left. HMR and JW seem to have broken up between late Aug/2014 and Nov/Dec 2014. Oddly enough, GW4 and his wife, filed for divorce in Nov 2014, and it was finalized 1/21/2015 (See Adams Cty Court Records). Whether that's when Mom & Dad moved into Peterson or not, Idk, but I still believe that something happened between the date in August when she was in love with her "best friend", and December, of 2014. Even if it was just that she got wheels, a license, and freedom.

Fwiw, HHG and FR, seem to have started seeing each other around Oct. 2014, and HHG's relationship status changed, to In A Relationship w/ FR, on Dec. 3, 2014. Her brother may have been hanging around a bit and become friends with FR, and he and HMR hit it off. Could have been just a rebound thing, after she and JW split. Four years is a long relationship.

If you'll note, both W boys were attracted to women who were polar opposites of their mother.

I think after DeWine making that comment, everyone tried to think what *bizarre* motive could they have, if it's more than just custody. I don't think he said it was a bizarre motive. I think he said it, meaning this case, is bizarre. I may be wrong there, feel free to correct. It's 4:40 am and I'm still awake. My mind may not be remembering correctly. We may find out in the end that he used that term not to mean a *bizarre* motive. He may have meant the Ws and their thinking is so far from normal that it's bizarre. They honestly felt justified in murdering 8 people for their own gain. That's pretty bizarre! They may well be the type of people that take one issue and use it as a reason to make up, outright lie, or exaggerate further reasons. The Ws are each other's echo chamber. Their own confirmation bias. The hate and anger started with one and it spread like a stomach virus. They were able to have bolder and deadlier thoughts as time passed because of that hive mind they seem to have. JMO

If GW4 and his wife split up not long before HR and JW did, wonder what the chances are that she saw exactly how the Ws were doing G4s ex-wife and she was terrified? Maybe she was in or around conversations were the Ws talked about what they would do to get custody of the boy. Might have been what opened her eyes to their true colors. JMO

No. She had been living there a very short time. I think it’s very possible when JW helped assemble a piece of baby furniture he also may have installed video. Or left a nanny cam type device which was removed the night of the murders. I know those canbe hacked but I don’t know if the signal broadcasts far enough to reach across the road so a recording could be picked up st night. I think it may have been to monitor the families habits in their “old” new home.

Dear God! In my absolute boredom while waiting for my spawn to wake up for Christmas morning, I made a huge mistake. I ventured on to facebook. Haven't been on there in at least two years. I only have it for the messenger app. I made a further mistake by reading on the Rhoden websites. There are a few. There is SO much misinformation on there! Do these people who choose to talk and converse with others about these murders just never read an article? Did they not watch the press conferences? Made my blood pressure rise. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said Tuesday that the custody of a young child played a role in the horrific 2016 murders in Pike County. Sophia Wagner, who will turn 5 this weekend, is the daughter of one of the suspects and one of the victims. DeWine said there was a "fixation" and "obsession" regarding custody of Sophia.

"It's the most bizarre story I've ever seen," DeWine said. "It's just amazing."

DeWine said evidence showed the Wagners started planning the homicides in January 2016, and that their apparent motivation all along was the children.

One day, he might wish he had.
More & more we see the father awarded custody.
Having said this, I’m not implying HR was not an adequate mother.
I smh as I think what AW thinks her family could afford the child that the Rs could not.
We all know custody petitions are frequently built on lies by the parent seeking custody, in an attempt to discredit the current custodial parent.
It’ll be interesting to learn if AW had a dossier started.

I won custody of my then five year old daughter back in the late 80s. My attorney got the judge to request psychological evaluations on both of us. As part of that they watched the interaction between each of us with my daughter. They determined she had lied often on her evaluation tests and that my daughter interacted more positively with me and much more than her. With that report the judge granted me custody. I got the letter granting me custody on Christmas Eve. I'll never forget that.

Trudie. I agree this event was planned far longer than DEWine had said. And it’s very possible that LE has digital footprints. I don’t know how far back a provider maintains records in light of the passage of the Patriot Act and the vast changes made to our security since September 11, 2001.

Although I bet it took time I will also bet they looked for and found all there was to find. I think LE took their time and they found exactly what they were looking for. It took highly specialized analysts who are trained by the best.

I believe LE HAS an airtight Case. And I believe each will be convicted. Theres an overwhelming probability each will be sentenced to death after a sentencing jury views the bloody gore filled gruesome crime scene evidence and photos. Each Waggie has every opportunity to stop the terrible bizarre murders they all planned, practiced and executed. None made any effort to halt the killings. None could possess a basic respect or regard for a human life.

IMO they will all take a plea deal. Unfortunately I don't think any of them will get the death penalty

DR moving eliminated the "pot grows" and most any other possibility to get custody because of living conditions. CPS would not have been a problem then. They were dead a month after moving.

Oh I know what you mean. I’ve found a couple of good groups. But many are similar to another board recently shut down. Absolutely disgusting. Especially if someone is interested in learning the case & discussing it.

No, there’s be no DP if a deal is agreed upon. I expect deals, as well. Not soon, tho.

I agree. Painful to write this but had HR been the only victim, I see no reason for the state to refuse JW full custody. Did they, in their warped thinking, believe the entire family had to be killed, lest they seek custody? IMO, few of the slain men would want custody of a toddler.
