*Jury Selection to begin @ 8:30am ET - OH - Shannon Elizabeth Graves (28) (missing Feb. 2017/found in freezer July 2017) - Arturo Novoa (31) & Katrina Layton (34) charged with aggravated murder, tampering w/evidence, obstruction justice & abuse of corpse. 9/22 update: Novoa and Layton are both charged with aggravated murder, murder, tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, and abuse of a corpse. 10/3 Update from arraignment hearing - AN & KL both pled not guilty/$1M bond for each /Tentative trial was set for Oct. 10th 10/19 update from hearing: Novoa's trial to start 3/15/18 @ 8:30am. Layton's next pretrial hearing was 10/19 @ 11am & trial starts 3/15/18 @ 8:30am
Motion hearing on Nov. 20th for both

For Katrina: DEFT'S MOTION TO APPEAR IN CIVILIAN CLOTHING IS GRANTED. DEFT'S ARE CONSIDERING FILING ADDITONAL MOTIONS. CASE TO BE SET FOR PRETRIAL ON 12-19-17 @ 1:30PM. DISPOSITIVE MOTIONS DEADLINE INCLUDING DISCOVERY IS 1-22-18.

Novoa & Layton: trial to start 3/15/18 @ 8:30am ET,
12/2 Update: Disposition Hearing on 1/22
 
Sorry I can't edit that last line - trial should start March 5th, not the 15th..... :doh:

I'm going to "guess" that the Jan. 8th Jury Trial for Arturo would be Jury selection - ??
Looks like they have separate court dates in January also.
 
There is also a Disposition hearing on Jan. 22nd.

Trials severed in freezer murder case

A judge Tuesday agreed to separate trials for the couple accused of killing a woman and stuffing her body in a freezer.

Judge Lou D’Apolito also set a Jan. 8 trial date in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for Arturo Novoa, 31, who faces charges of aggravated murder and abuse of a corpse along with Katrina Layton, 34.

Layton has signed a waiver to have her case heard in a timely fashion, but Novoa has signed no such waiver. He needs to be tried within the next 21 days or else the state would be in violation of his rights to have his case heard in a timely fashion.

So I'm guessing that March 5th date of trial is null (re my bold)

Okay - finally got into the court site - here's what they have. Sorry about all caps....

TRIAL SET FOR 1-8-18 IS CONTINUED UNTIL FURTHER ORDER OF COURT AND THIS MATTER IS ORDERED TO SET FOR PRETRIAL ON 2-13-18 @ 9:30AM. TRIAL TO PROCEED ON 3-5-18 @ 8:30AM BY AGREEMENT OF THE PARTIES. (L D'APOLITO) SEE ATTACHED IMAGE

So, guessing no jury selection today, another pretrial on 2/13......
