Defense asks jury to consider life without parole for Worley rather than death penalty. Says defendants age, 59, makes possibility of parole after 25 or 30 years moot. State calling no witnesses or new evidence. #WorleyTrial

Defense says it will show Defendant is “one damaged individual, one damaged man.” Says something happened 2 years ago to cause his “train to go off the tracks.” #WorleyTrial

Is it within the rules to quote something SJ's mom wrote on the "Justice for Sierah" FB page? Just thought you would all like to see what she has to say. She has always taken the high road and held herself with such poise, something I don't think I could do in a horrible situation such as this.

TIA!

Paraphrasing..
She thanks everyone for their support and encouragement and to remember that justice has been served.
And that he has been found guilty on all counts. She is accepting if he does get life in prison without parole. She expresses sympathy on how hard it must be for the horrors. She expresses her feelings of anger and hatred and says only in death will he truly pay for his crimes.

She ends it all by saying that everyone needs to LIVE LAUGH LOVE!!! as Sierah would.

Hmmmm, I think he tried the same thing more than 2 years ago! Glad RG was there to let jurors know what a crock that is.

Lovely post from Ce's Mom. God Bless her.

As evidence for aggravating circumstances the Prosecution submits prior testimony of weapons on Worley's property. The state rests its case and the Prosecution brings up mitigation specialist Gary Ericson

I sure would like to hear these defense witnesses. It would be good if we at least get videos afterward. I don’t know how likely that will be, though.

Keep tabs on tweets, please. I am going to do a few of my chores. Be back soon, I hope.

Wondering: Why isn't, "Life without parole," an option?
Thanks.

According to The Blade:
"If not, they can sentence him to life in prison without possibility of parole, or life with the possibility of parole after 25 or 30 years, he said. It is the only time in Ohio courts where a jury recommends the sentence, which must be unanimous and ultimately will be imposed by the judge."

For sure. I don't think killers train was ever on any track. Except a self serving depraved one.

On point, Bravo! [emoji122]

A newspaper or TV? That is downright stupid. So keep us updated at work and wish I could be there.

Is the sister not in court today? Why is this from a recording?

#jamesworley 's sister in a recording said her father sometimes drank and when he did, he would get violent with his mother. She mentioned one incident he chased her mother with a butcher knife, slapped her

It seems from what has been posted here his Sister showed up yesterday. I'm surmising she has refused to testify any mitigation. Seems her recorded interviews are allowed in.

IIRC, didn't JW's mother say he treated her like his father used to? I can't find anything regarding this, I will dig into it more.

ETA: I found the information.

Per The Blade,

"“The son seemed agitated and frustrated to be at the hospital,” the nurse relayed to deputies in the report, and said she was able “to speak with Ms. Sheperd about the way her son treats her and [Ms. Sheperd] advised that he is just like his father in the way he talks to her.” The nurse reported no signs of physical abuse."

At least we're getting a few more updates today than we have been previously!

I am most curious to hear the Defense claim of him going off the rails. Speaking to their version :violin:
