Fulton County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Robinson asked potential jurors questions to determined if they could be impartial, including if they had a relationship with anyone involved in the trial. He also asked about media coverage of the case they had read or watched, and if they had made up their mind about Worley’s guilt or innocence.
When several potential jurors said they had preconceived opinions, Judge Robinson reminded them that they would be asked to swear under oath only to consider testimony and evidence presented during trial.

— I'm in Fulton Co. Common Pleas Court today to cover the first day of jury selection for the James Worley capital murder trial. He's accused of killing 20-year-old Sierah Joughin in July, 2016

— Judge Robinson has banned cell phones and other recording devices except for limited pool video/still photography, so I will have updates for you when we go on break

— Change of plans. I'm camped out in the media room across the street, where we were directed by court staff to watch cc tv rather than in the court room. Here's how it's going so far:

— —
Judge Robinson has been going through many of the standard jury selection questions to determine if potential jurors can be fair, including if any of them know the victim, defendant, their families, or attorneys for either side.

— —
Given how small this community, it's no surprise many of them said they know one or more of the attorneys, or have used them in previous cases. Several said they've already made up their minds on the case, and were dismissed

— —
A couple former classmates of Worley's at Evergreen High School, but none said they were close enough to be "friends." Another man said he was a retired Evergreen schools employee who knew the Joughin family.

— —
We're breaking for lunch. Jurors instructed to be back by 1:15

People vs James Worley - 120 jurors reported for jury duty - jurors going through tight security to get inside. @WTOL11Toledo

— People vs James Worley: many jurors dismiss this morning after saying they have already formed an opinion on this case

Security is tight in Fulton County as jurors are unable to bring cellphones, drinks or food inside the courtroom. Everyone entering the courthouse must go through a metal detector, and everyone's bag is searched. There is only one entrance that will be open into the courthouse for the next month as the trial plays out.

:gaah: why can't we watch??!!!!

http://www.newslocker.com/en-us/reg...h-joughin-murder-trial-in-fulton-county/view/

Worley is charged with two counts of
aggravated murder — both with death-penalty specifications — as well as four counts of kidnapping, two counts each of murder, abduction, felonious assault, and having weapons while under disability, and one count each of possessing criminal tools, gross abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence.

Trial day is almost here. An innocent girl, out riding her bike, then left murdered in a field. I don't know what Justice is...how it can weigh against this evil, but in an imperfect world, it's all we have. May the truth be revealed, the jurors minds open and aware.

Did they ever find any more victims?

Why are there two counts of murder? Maybe these responses to the question apply here; more replies at link:
https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/how-can-someone-get-charged-with-two-counts-of-fir-1991209.html
Multiple counts of first degree murder can be charged based on alternative theories of murder. There is intentional murder, murder through actions that one knows will highly result in death, felony murder where victim dies during defendant's commission of a felony crime, and a few other variations on those themes. The facts dictate which murder counts to charge and how many. The number of counts is not limited to the number of victims.

The prosecutor usually charges every mental state that can potentially apply as a separate count. If the defendant is ultimately found guilty on more than one count arising out a single act, the counts are merged into one conviction for purposes of judgment and sentence..

The trial of James Worley has begun with jury selection in Fulton County. A large number of potential jurors reported for duty Monday with another 120 reporting in tomorrow. It's expected the process will continue all week.
The trial could last up to a month. 13abc's Alexis Means is covering the case and will provide updates.

Nothing new?

From a few days ago, article and video that includes more lovely pics of Sierah.

Immense Amount of Work/Money Going Into Trial

Sierah's family have been at every court hearing leading up to this trial. The state has requested that 24 seats be saved for her family and friends throughout the entire trial.

judge just expanded the ban on clothing either in support or against either party. T-shirts and other clothing are now banned. Not just inside in the courthouse, but they are also not allowed to be worn in parking lots, streets and sidewalks surrounding the courthouse.
