Or maybe there was a different license plate on it for the whole trip so that LE wouldn't spot the car, and then maybe that license plate was taken away for later use on another car. Daryn's car's real plate might be tossed in a dumpster somewhere along the route.

Exactly, so if we narrow down the time-frames and possible gas stations we could turn that info to LE to see if there were possible witnesses :)

Good point. Meaning that there would have been some sort of premeditation?
So, possible hitch-hiker with a backpack..carrying around a stolen plate.

Another good point to bring up to LE.

I don't live in the U.S. and am probably grossly underestimating the size of this potential task from across the pond on a very small island (!), but could we somehow get a list together of all possible gas stations the vehicle could have made it to and try and post out/e-mail missing posters to them?

It's a car I think most people would probably notice, too.
 
I was going to say;
"I bet ten dollars that theres a gas station on the Idaho border that's almost exactly 361 miles from Hood River..."
Guess what..at exactly 341 miles you have Caldwell Idaho, Stinker gas Station, just off of I-84. That would be my first stop for questioning. JMHO

Wow, amazing sleuthing. Is there a way anybody could find out if his vehicle may have been spotted there?

The only think I could think of doing is calling LE and seeing if this would be a valid tip? Whomever has jurisdiction at this point. Can we get a mods opinion?

Is it my understanding that a front plate was taken off leaving the back plate on, and the car just backed up to the trailhead, so it would have a back license plate, but not one in the front? Are Oklahoma residents required to have a front plate and a back plate?
If so, and only the front was taken off, but the back was left on, maybe they did not want it to look out of the ordinary? (Unless Oregon requires both front and back plates, too? So someone would notice the car doesn't have a front plate, thinking it was an Oregon car?)
 
One thing that has me puzzled is the license plate. I'm may have read it wrong but I thought it said the front plate was removed. In Oklahoma we don't have front plates , unless they are novelty or dealership advertisments

Oklahoma doesn't require a front plate..but Oregon does...odd..so there were no plates present at all?
 
Did the vehicle in fact have OK state plates or were they tribal nation plates? Here, the latter are very much in evidence and many if not all feature front and back plates. Does DRC have Native blood, as, if so, he could get what is referred to locally as his "Indian card," be a member of a tribe, and thus qualify to use nation plates.
 
With the plate left in the car,placed in the back of the car I believe it was said (under the seat, I can't recall), would that possibly mean that when it was mentioned on the thread about having a Different License plate tag, that that scenerio could be correct.......with the Real tag left inside the car?? Great sleuthing guys, whoever brought that point up....I forgot who did....sorry, Great sleuthing to you, if this is the case! :)
EDIT.......was it definitely an Oklahoma tag found on the back of the vehicle, or another states license plate tag? Was it Daryn's real tag found inside the vehicle, or another states tag found there?

Per NAMUS, he had Oklahoma plate 038 KCM.
 
While it's not exactly what one might call burgeoning, this case's Twitter presence did increase yesterday. Still could be better though. Good way to get the news out. One of the posters was tweeted and eight or nine other tweets refer to DRC's being missing.

Only things out there from LE or MSM only refer to the vehicle having "Oklahoma license plates" (plural) and nothing about car's contents, what plates were where, etc.
 
Oregon Requires a front plate, and the vehicle was backed up to the trailhead......Does that mean that this person Wanted the vehicle to be found, since Oregon Does require a front plate? If the tag on the back is Not from Oregon (but Daryn's real tag) does that mean it could have been turned in a lot sooner, had it not had the Oklahoma state tag on the back, like they didn't want to be found sooner? But that doesn't make sense either, because why even take the plate off?? To draw attention to the vehicle?? Or because in reality it did have different plates on it at one time?? So confusing.....

Thank you for that info! So now, do we Strike that, about the tag being found inside the car?? Or it could be legit, but because it isn't from LE or MSM, we cannot use that info just yet to sleuth?
