Exactly, if his parents are NOT pleading for his return... that would certainly reinforce that "they don't want you anymore" story now wouldn't it?

DVR... TIVO... watching the press conference online later. It would be easy to quickly verify through the news article that the parents didn't speak, then let the kid watch it, doesn't even need to be sound... just to prove his parents aren't there. Unlikely, but perps have told kids that before.

I can't imagine that an abductor who is trying to control a child by telling him his parents don't want him anymore, would be allowing him to watch TV news, where he'd be likely to see his tearful parents pleading for his return.

Highway 26 is a busy highway, it would be very abnormal for a child to be seen walking down it.. I'm wondering if he was referring to Cornelius Pass road, as that's a main road people use to get to Portland also...

How far out does it remain that way? Looking at the aerial view, there's a section not too far out of Portland that looks just like the rural highway I mentioned. Driveways leading to homes going directly off the highway, and some of the homes close enough together that it would be normal for 7 year olds to be allowed to walk along the shoulder of the highway to a nearby friend's house. For whatever reason, the trucker didn't find it worrisome enough to call 911 and stop and try to stay with the child. Probably he didn't know there was a child missing yet, and without that info, and looking at the surrounding area, it just didn't look like a problem to him. That also suggests that the child he saw wasn't looking distraught, or looking around as if he was lost.

Does anybody know if they used tracking dogs? That would show if he actually left the building and could follow Kyron's sent out of the school building. If he never left the building, that would be an entirely different story.

Yes, they had them there Friday night, and Saturday for sure. I saw them on the news, and if you go back to some of the local media's websites I think you can find pictures. I know I took pictures off my tv and posted on the very first thread, showing one searcher w/a dog..

Just covering bases here.

Does anyone know where the dumping sites are in this area? Do we know if LE checked the local dumping sites? This would be a dumping site locals would use.

Also, along with checking every inch of the school, have they checked any school dumpsters or any trash area around the school for any evidence... a jacket, a toy, anything that could have belonged to Kyron?

Far.. I used to live on a road off Hwy 26 way out near Banks, and even now, it is HARD to get onto that highway and there are a lot of wrecks.. Even past Vernonia/Timber exit and beyond...

I don't understand. How could it possibly hinder the investigation for the family to say he's a lovely child and they love him very much and everybody wants him to come home soon? It might not help either, but who knows.

Once distraught parents get in front of TV cameras, it's hard to know or control what they'll say. E.g., seeing his biological mom angrily blaming his stepmother for "losing" him might encourage him to stay put (and make it easier for someone who's holding him to convince him not to try to make a run for it).

Just wondered if Kyron was into computers? Kids love them nowdays with so many videos and gaming sites. Could he have been approached on line by a predator interested in "seeing his red-eye frog exhibit"? Or, could a predator have just followed Kyron's messages to others about his exhibit?

I think I assumed it was at a time when the road was not well traveled...because if it was in the middle of the day in an area frequented by children a mother would have been likely to stop or call it in.

Since it was a trucker, who frequently travel at night and we haven't heard anyone else also saw him on Highway 26... I think that's where I got the impression it was at night.

Also with someone in the area saying that it would be highly unusual to see a child walking there... :waitasec:

Well we don't know for sure what time it was, but I'm guessing daytime. A trucker is often busy and has to get a load somewhere on a tight schedule. If he sees a child that he's fairly sure needs some help, sure he'd stop. But if it wasn't really clear that there was a problem, and if (as others have said) this is a fairly busy road, he might figure there was no reason to stop -- somebody else is likely to stop, maybe somebody who actually knows him, especially if the child starts showing clear signs of wanting/needing help. The fact that nobody else has apparently reported seeing a child matching Kyron's description in this location is a bit odd. Maybe it really is common to see children walking along this road, especially at certain times of day (e.g. morning and afternoon school bus times).

The search effort was launched. Police walked the school grounds with K-9 tracking teams, searched every room and closet inside the school and even checked the roof.

Yes.

The bottom line is this... if police, FBI and other professionals have decided that the family should keep quiet and stay out of the media, then they should keep quiet and stay out of the media, regardless of how "bad" it may look to some people. If my child was missing and LE told me it would help the investigation to go stand on my head, I'd damned well do it. I don't think we should be second guessing the professionals here.

OK, so not checking sex offenders; not calling it an abduction; not saying he wandered off; not saying who saw him last.

Kyron was next to the door at school when last seen. Was he waiting for someone he trusted? Did he make secret plans with a friend to go on an adventure for the day or for the weekend? Did someone promise him the adventure of a lifetime if he skipped school for the day? Did that friend then pull a fast one on him?

A reporter named Mehgan from KATU talked to the bio-mom last night. Bio-mom says she wants to talk but doesn't want to hinder the investigation.

This says to me that LE/FBI are advising the family not to speak to the media. If LE or the FBI thought it would be advantageous to speak to the media, I have no doubt that the family would be out there talking.

Sorry.....just for the life of me, I cannot come up with one single solitary reasonable explanation where the physical presence of a mother pleading into a camera for ANYONE who may have ANY information that can lead to the safe return of their much loved son would hinder any investigation.... :furious:

Especially 5 days in...but I know....they aren't "ready" yet....whatever that means?

I can.

LE says so.

My heart goes out to this little boy's family. I'm just amazed at the lack of security in this school. We live in a small town and our chools have security stuff in place. All adult visitors coming into a school MUST show their license. The lady at the desk runs your license and if you are a felon you are not aloud in no matter what. They print out a name tag that has your license picture on it and your name. Our teachers also wear name tags. All exterior doors are locked on the outside. Also anyone who volunteers is required by state law to have a background check. In the carrider line you must have a Yellow sign from the office given at the first of the year with your children's name and one of the license picture name tags on it. If you don't they make you walk in and show your license to check them out. Our elmentary does not call if a child is absent, but the unior high and high school do. After reading about this case. I am going to call the powers that be in our school district and ask them to add the calling on absent children to the elmentary level children also.

My heart is hurting for this cute lil guy. My youngest she is 7 and where glasses. She too is proud to how anything she does at school to me.

The one place you have no choice to send your child to and he just disappears with no one noticing. Unbelievable.
