Assemblywoman Michelle Fiori just delivered boxes of food to them. She's a real piece of work...now aiding and abetting these terrorist squatters.

Never heard of her but I just sent her an e-mail. ;)

Confrontation is what they want. What the heck do you give them? Stop the traffic via roads etc..now!

I'm po'd as a citizen of the US. They don't represent my beliefs in order to get free land. Not at all.

I spelled Assemblywoman Michelle Fiore's name wrong...it is Fiore, not Fiori. Sorry!

So, this coming Monday's Harney County Community Meeting will be moved from the school they were at to a Senior Citizen Center. The school district will no longer host because they have a no firearms policy which was broken at the last meeting.

The new venue also has a no firearms policy and it will be strictly enforced. There is also a limit on capacity of the crowd to 150. People must get tickets ahead of time. Limit two to a person. Must show picture ID and proof of Harney County residency to pick up a ticket starting at 10 AM Monday, the day of the meeting, and picture ID at the door to attend the meeting.

Oregon Public Broadcasting's Think Outloud public affairs program will moderate and record the meeting. The recording will be broadcast on Tuesday.

So when Bundy and company show up with their weapons they're going to be asked to please leave? They are not going to appreciate being denied entry.

Where are all these people sleeping?

Any place they want. They can sleep at the refuge, they can sleep in a nice warm hotel room, or they can sleep at home and commute to the occupation.

This is an interesting history lesson I found posted in Amanda Peacher's Twitter feed. From the SF Chronicle Jan 5:

To complement this article is this one talking about the 'Skousen Constitution' which is that thing the Bundy folks carry around in their breast pockets.

http://www.rawstory.com/2016/01/thi...tants-are-so-confused-about-the-constitution/

LATimes has an article as well:

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-ff-oregon-standoff-constitution-20160121-story.html

“It’s the Constitution. But not the way most people read it.

It includes all 4,543 words inscribed by the Founding Fathers, with 18th century spelling and punctuation preserved, but the pocket Constitution held aloft by Ammon Bundy at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge contains some additional notations courtesy of an anti-communist conspiracy theorist named W. Cleon Skousen.

Skousen, who once accused President Dwight D. Eisenhower of being a Soviet agent and whom Time magazine once labeled an “exemplar of the right-wing ultras,” pairs the original Constitutional text with quotes from Founding Fathers about the necessity of religion in governance.”

I don't know if we can talk about any of this or not, even though it is the basis of the Bundy Thinking and Proselytizing. At least, we can read it and be informed.

"Its message: The Founding Fathers intended the United States to be a Christian nation, beholden to a Christian god, and never intended the federal government to have any power over its people.

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people,” it quotes John Adams in an addendum. “It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
"

Where do the mm stand on religious freedom?

Hmmmm..... Gee,I wonder who gets to decide who is a "moral and religious person"?
You know people say we are too politically correct to even call terrorism what it is in this country and I don't totally disagree but but a lot of these patriotic wannabe minute men sure have alot of high falutin' foot notes and disingenous double speak for good old fashioned Fascist ideolgy

Final warning, zero tolerance .. next poster who brings skin color / race / religion into this thread, and those who respond to such posts, both get to go on vacation.

Bumping in case this was missed. :)

This whole article is interesting but I think this part of this AP article is especially noteworthy:

http://www.therepublic.com/view/story/ec4fbc27f67a429982b500c539fe9c20/US--Ranching-Standoff

“Oregon Gov. Kate Brown said Wednesday that she was angry because federal authorities have not taken action against Bundy's group. The Democratic governor said the occupation has cost Oregon taxpayers nearly half a million dollars.

Brown sent a letter Thursday to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and FBI Director James Comey, urging them "to end the unlawful occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge as safely and as quickly as possible."

Bundy, speaking to The Associated Press late Friday while sitting at a desk inside one of the refuge buildings, dismissed the governor's request.

"It just again shows the ignorance of some of our elected officials," he said. "It's just amazing that she would just disregard the Constitution to the point where she would think it would be OK to give the federal government that authority to come in and take some dynamic action or something like that."

Bundy said the governor's comments might have been about politics.

"If they wanted to come get us they would have come got us already," Bundy said.

The group has recently bolstered a front entrance blockade with timbers and set up another checkpoint at a back entrance. The AP was not allowed to enter the area Friday without an armed escort.”

He is referencing the Skousen Constitution (for what its worth).

Armed escorts.

Okay, if you remember the last episode left off with the FBI denying their chit chat to be filmed by Bundy cameras (and other legitimate press cameras) so we saw Bundy traipsing off to talk with the sheriff.
“That didn't stop Bundy from arriving at the Harney County Courthouse to talk to Ward. Instead, he was left to talk at a security checkpoint with Ward's No. 2, Lt. Brian Needham, who was accompanied by Malheur County Sheriff Brian Wolfe.

Bundy, speaking with an intensity unusual given his typical mild demeanor, insisted on knowing if the FBI had gotten permission to operate in the county. He kept pressing when the sheriff's lieutenant said local and federal authorities were working together.

When Needham said the FBI did have the sheriff's authority, Bundy demanded to see it in writing. He was told no.

A taut-faced Bundy walked away from the encounter and uncharacteristically snapped at a reporter's question: "Don't put words in my mouth."

Asked what his next steps would be, he said he was going back to the refuge to work.”

So does this idiot not understand the meaning of the word "Federal"??? The FBI has jurisdiction pretty much any place they want within the United States without having to have the written permission of the local sheriff, DUH!!!

Going back to the refuge "to work"??! Work on what? Instigating a ranchers' revolution?

It has always appalled me that OUR government allows a relatively small handful of private individuals to pay a pittance to use and destroy OUR property for their own private profit.

The myths of rugged individualist cowboy and an "untamed" West and glorious by-gone days are just that- a myth, built upon the dead bodies of the Native American cultures and people we almost annihilated, and the land we seized -stole- from them.

These ranchers have no special "rights." They have been granted land-welfare for far too long. I hope the feds document the burning of grazing contracts and promptly evict every last one of these fools from OUR lands when they go home.
