Could Jeannette Kamahele be the Jane Doe Swamp Mountain Road?

She wore blue Levi Jeans, sandals, 20y and 5'5", brown leather purse (maybe strip is from her purse)

Jeannette.jpg

Missing since Tuesday 25th April 1972
She is described as a Pacific Islander and as being of Native Hawaiian descent.

She was last seen hitchhiking on the on-ramp to Highway 101 going North (approx. 7600 Commerce Drive, Cotatie, CA 94931)
It's a 9h 30 min drive to Highway 20, Oregon. (If Ted Bundy could've done it , everything is possible.)

Her boyfriend was going to pick her up at the on-ramp. When he arrived he saw Jeannette entering a faded brown '70-'72 Chevrolet pick-up truck fitted with a homemade wooden camper and a 20-30 year old Caucasian male with an afro hairstyle as driver.
(Was this the same man as with Lori Lee Kursa???)

Jeannette was also attending the same school as Kim Wendy Allen in '71 - '72

She wore a dental bridge. Probably not SMD.

Here's another mid-1970's Female MP from Oregon just added to NamUs who fits the description of the 1976 Linn County Jane Doe.

Cherril Sue Miller

Her height (5'0" to 5'1") is spot-on. Her age is within range. She went missing in October 1975 in Portland OR (less than 100 miles from where the remains were found) found.

Her NamUs page indicates that she had "one discolored or capped tooth in front of mouth". However, we can't verify that to the UID because the upper-front teeth (as well as most of her teeth on the upper left side) were missing postmortem.

Her clothing and purse description doesn't match though.

ETA: I just noticed in the dentals section that the Jane Doe's dental age is estimated at 17.7 (plus or minus 1.8 years). This would tighten the Jane Does age estimate to somewhere between 15.9 years old and 19.5 years old.

About her dental age approximation, does that mean we should consider younger teens under the original estimation of 18-40, at least 15/16+ as potential candidates for Swamp Mountain Jane Doe? Also is it known whether her wisdom teeth were present or not? That might give an even better idea of how old she was.

Carl, did you ever hear back about a dental comparison between the UID & Vicki Hollar?

My understanding is that dental age is not the only indicator they look at. There are also characteristics of the bones (growth plates, for instance), teeth (wear, especially), and skull (how much the sutures have smoothed over, for one) that also need to be looked at. They look at all of those together to arrive at the age estimate. For instance, if her joints showed the beginnings of arthritis but her wisdom teeth weren't in, they might have decided that she was older and her teeth were just unusually "young." I'm not saying that's the case, it's just an example of the kind of thing it might have been.

Niki Britten ran away one week before her 16th birthday from Albany, Oregon elsewhere in Linn County. She allegedly spoke to her friends on the phone two months after that claiming to have a job in New York and that she was doing well, but it was later found that she'd had no activity on her SSN after her 1969 disappearance; so that was questionable http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/britten_niki.html.

Doe Network responded to the Niki Britten and Swamp Mountain Jane Doe submission saying that she had been previously sent in as a potential candidate. They didn't mention whether a prior comparison had taken place or not or if she had been excluded.

Current rule outs via NamUs: Madeline Babcock 1932 California, Suzanne Justis 1950 Oregon, and Martha Morrison 1956 Oregon (who has been found deceased).

Niki Britten isn't listed as a rule out, but that doesn't necessarily mean she hasn't been already.

Another possibility I like is Lynne Brown https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/33109/349. Her case is a little unusual as she isn't so much a missing person as she is a wanted fugitive http://www.clackamas.us/sheriff/coldcases.html#1970s. There is still an active warrant out for her arrest. At the time of her disappearance in 1975 she was 26 years old, 5'2" tall and around 110 pounds, and had brown hair and green eyes. There is some resemblance between her and SMJD: Swamp Mountain Jane Doe 3.jpgView attachment 120639Swamp Mountain Jane Doe 2.jpg.

Re-posting the picture of Lynne Brown due to technical difficulties the other day: Lynne Brown.jpg.

One possibility I haven't seen mentioned previously is Barbara Bryson http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/bryson_barbara.html. She has been missing from Stayton, Oregon in nearby Marion County since 1971. At the time she was 19 years old, 4'11" tall and 100 pounds, and had brown hair and eyes. Stayton is approximately 65 miles from Swamp Mountain.
