after this afternoon's presser i feel MUCH more confident that LE is sooooooo close to an arrest and possibly finding sweet Whitney. sounds like they are "pleased" with what they found and that the evidence they have found tells a story. this is awesome!!! i'm so happy that it's leading them closer to solving the puzzle.

something that i thought of earlier that doesn't really matter too much really, except for explaining why they have said that her husband isnt a POI... perhaps surveillance of the perp shows that he is maybe black/mexican/asian? overweight/build that doesnt match Clint? maybe they got a good shot of the guys face? maybe the attendant told LE that the guy was a race other than "white" so that leads them to believe that the husband would be cleared?

they said that they don't have a POI, but that the husband is not a suspect. this makes me think that they may not know exactly who he IS, but they know who he ISNT. but... i think it's only a matter of time before they find out exactly who he is. i have a huge feeling his DNA/prints are in her car and that is why they are making such great progress.

another thing... what if whitney somehow turned her phone onto some sort of recording mode, like a camera. people that use their phones a lot are able to do things without even looking at the phone. maybe she was able to slip the phone into her hand and hold it on the side of her seat and catch a shot of the perp? back when cell phones first came out, i was a pro at doing things on it without looking (back in my teens)... these days i could care less and am really slow at texting lol. just thinking outloud again here. she might not have been able to dial anyone without looking at her screen, but maybe she could turn her camera on easily? maybe the perp caught her trying to do something like this and thought he could take the phone home and get rid of whatever she caught on it, only to find that it had a lock on it... so he tossed it.

Is anyone else having flashbacks to the Samantha Koenig case? I pray for a much better outcome, but everything we know (and don't know) here seems to be pretty random and out of the ordinary compared to what we've come to expect in a lot of these cases. My own opinion of course...

YES! I was just looking through the thread to see if anyone else brought that up before I made a post about that myself. AND she was a barista too, then there is the cell phone thing and the debit card too! AND I saw where the husband as already set up a bank account for donations just exactly like Samantha's dad did right away; which we all found out in Samantha's case was really for ransom payments. Really really strange all the parallels between these two cases- even the way LE isn't releasing sketches, photos or asking for the public to volunteer for search efforts.

I am really questioning if Whitney was the one in the car when the gas attendant saw them...esp now that LE says that was not the first stop. I think maybe something bad had already happened to Whitney and there is a man and woman involved...I also have/had a theory about why the card was used 3 times so close together but....I am still thinking on that one.

I agree. I think something happened to Whitney between 7 am and 9 am. I can't see the perp taking her to a gas station (let alone 3). I would think that would be to big of a risk at being caught.

Even if he only got a few dollars in gas it still takes probably 10 minutes to have the attendant come to your car, ask what kind and how much fuel you want, him to run the card and then pump the gas.

IMO... 10 minutes is plenty of time for someone who is being held against their will to make a scene or escape the vehicle.

Either Whitney went willingly or she wasn't the female seen in the car. (again, MOO).

I saw her husband talking tonight on a KATU, channel 2 story. He mentioned two exact times that the card was used. My bank (US Bank) doesn't show that to me when I look up online - does anyone else's bank show the exact time a card is used? Perhaps LE was able to get the exact time and that's his source.

Also, KATU, or maybe it was KGW, said the person who found the phone was able to see texts, photos while LE is saying it wasn't on. I believe LE said that at this afternoon's press conference. I'm starting to feel like LE is not telling us everything and I just hope that means they know what's going on.

I'm just hoping for something.

My first post on this board. Stories like this are so unsettling and make us all want to try to do something to help - I think that's what we are all trying to do hear is to figure out this puzzle.

Well the broken window photo is a still frame with no other views or zooms. I have them up side by side and if I cross my eyes, rotate my head 360 degrees and close one eye, I can reconcile it with the passenger side. JMO

I'm not sure it's the same parking space/location. That big yellow post thingy is pretty prominant in the picture of the passenger side of the car, and you can't see it at all in the picture from the driver's side. It looks like it's directly behind the car, so seems like it would be visible in both pics, if it was the same spot.......

Actually, maybe it is the same spot, and the bush is just hiding the yellow thing. The yellow thing is actually the base of a light pole. I found the exact parking spot on google maps. On the map photo, I even see what looks like that same silver SUV/van behind Whitney's SUV! In the same parking spot, or very close to it. I'm not sure I know how to post a picture to show you guys what I'm talking about. Lemme try to figure it out....

Heres a news article with a timeline so they have been searching where the girl/boyfriend said they seen a girl Larch Mountain today.

According to that timeline her card was used once??

Has our wonderful hollye made a map up for this case yet?
If not, I can work on one, just don't want to duplicate someone else's efforts but I am having a hard time keeping all these place straight in my head and at the moment have 4 different partial maps created by other people up and it's making me crazy!

If you go to page 24 of this thread, I wrote a timeline piece that has all the maps in it. I made a few maps, each corresponding with segments of timeline.

You can use those same addresses to pull together one big map perhaps. I almost did that but trying to format my lengthy piece in this tiny little editing box was a bit of hell, I must say. It made me skip on doing one final map with everything on it. I needed to get to reading and catch up a bit!

Just heard about this case... I've been spending so much time reading about Jessica Ridgeway. I'm in Portland, will try to catch up in the threads. It doesn't sound good for this young woman. I'm SO SICK OF READING ABOUT ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMAN OR GIRL BEING SNATCHED!!

I wondered about that too. Found that whole thing strange and a litte unbelievable. I cannot imagine who would just drive by someone by themselves in the woods and not at least ask if they are okay, esp since the girl who posted it was with husband/boyfriend and not by herself. I tried to find the post again but I cannot. Not saying it is not there I may have just missed it.

If you go look at the person who posted the Larch mountain "saw girl sitting on a log" post. You can see that she just went away to rehab a day or two after her post. I feel bad because I don't want that to discount what she said but still it does add another dimension to that discussion. I'm not sure if the post it still on facebook but I saw it the same day she posted it and looked at her profile which was wide open.

Ehhhhhh. So frustrating. I have no idea how to insert a picture in here. Was gonna post a screenshot of the google map streetview of the exact parking space, but can't figure it out. Oh well.

Note the distance to the walmart building. If I'm not mistaken I think walmarts cameras maybe on top of their building making it quite a distance for a great view.
