Thought you guys might be interested to know that Parabon is apparently currently working on Doe cases. I follow CeCe Moore on facebook who is their lead genealogist and she said: "At Parabon, we are also working to ID unknown deceased individuals (Does)."
And to clarify, Parabon is doing BOTH Snapshot and genetic genealogy to solve Doe cases... very exciting!

I posted that the other day, a few posts up. I also hit up the little headless girl in St Louis. The best part about Parabon, they have federal grants that can be used to help pay for it.I some how missed that they had started in May. I ended up emailing them a week or 2 ago to ask with the St Louis girl, boy in the box and little miss nobody in mind. She's an older case too

They seem perfect for kid cases which DDP doesn't think they're gonna do. I say doesn't think because we haven't seen a definite answer in older cases like Boy in the box which has been a maybe for them

Is anyone here in contact with his LE or the VIDOCQ Society? There is hope for the Boy in the Box with Parabon. Please pass this info on if anyone speaks to them. I reached out to them yesterday thinking of this case and the little headless girl I follow. I asked if they do minors, he really did not answer it so I'm guessing they do

If you have a particular case you think we should be working on, please contact the detective in charge of the case and provide him/her with a link to our website [Parabon® Snapshot® DNA Analysis Service - Powered by Parabon NanoLabs]. Simply ask the detective to talk with me about the DNA available in the case so I can assess whether or not Snapshot is even an option for the agency to consider. If you send an email to the detective, feel free to copy me. If you have a conversation via phone, send me a follow up email and give me their contact information. Once you’ve made the introduction, I will contact them to explain the technology and find out if there is sufficient DNA available in the case.

My contact information is in my signature below. The detective may also find the links (below) to our customer testimonial page and social media sites informational, so you may want to point those out as well.

Yeah, it's a little confusing because I guess 'Snapshot' is the umbrella term for all of their services when it's also a specific service of coming up with an image of what the perp or Jane/John Doe would have looked like based on DNA. So personally that confused me and I wanted to clarify that they do genetic genealogy for Does with CeCe

Hopefully the grants for Parabon are not impossible to obtain because an agency probably doesn't have the money to do this out of pocket.

Sorry, my mistake as I did not elaborate like I did with the headless girl which is quoted below. I should have elaborated that I emailed them asking if they did Doe Matching. I don't know why I didn't, but yes, they seem to be lumping their services under snapshot.

From their page -
Solve Your Toughest Cases — FAST!

Snapshot is a cutting-edge forensic DNA analysis service that provides a variety of tools for solving hard cases quickly:

Genetic Genealogy: Identify a subject by matching their DNA to one or more family members.
DNA Phenotyping: Predict physical appearance and ancestry of an unknown person from their DNA.
Kinship Inference: Determine kinship between DNA samples out to six degrees of relatedness.

DNA Doe Project isn't the only one doing doe matching. DNA Doe Project does not match kids so they would not even look at our girl. Carl had called her LE; we're not sure where they stand. Gonna paste in what I wrote on FB this morning.. Feel free to share my post in other threads. There are more then enough Does to go around between the 2 companies.

Parabon is doing similar to what DNA Doe Project is doing with trying to ID Doe's with "family tree" DNA at GEDmatch. We've seen their name in the press with them identifying killers by using DNA; I wasn't sure if they were going to start Doe matching so I contacted them the other day to ask if they will; they are; it's called Snapshot. The guy Thom that I spoke to was very nice.

I asked if they'd be doing kids; he didn't mention it so it's on my question list; so is the price. I'm sure LE will want to have an idea of price before they even contact them.Does anyone have any more questions that I can ask? I'm putting his contact info below; please pass it to any LE you're in contact with. You can tell Thom you got his info from me, Roselvr

- - From Carl K At the time, I mentioned the St. Louis girl and indicated that that would be an ideal case for what they did. He indicated that there are federal grants available for communities, and those with larger populations and crime rates (e.g., St. Louis) have a better chance to get the grants.

I forwarded Thom's information to Daniel Sweeney, the detective in charge of the St. Louis headless girl case.. But I don't know what has happened beyond that, and I wouldn't expect that they would keep me in the loop of what they decided. - -

I found the VIDOCQ Society on facebook, sent them a message.

I found the VIDOCQ Society on facebook, sent them a message.

They replied that they can't discuss cases but he forwarded my message on. I asked him to let me know if they need fund raising help. I'm sure we could get donations. This is if there are enough remains left..

I hope they are looking into him and these possible leads.Does anyone know or can find out which Unidentified Does they are exhuming? If someone finds out please let me know ok? I have a facebook page for Unidentified man found in April 1957 in FORT Mifflin.I wanted them to get DNA on him to check with a possible relation to The boy in the box.If they are not related to each other.he also might be Pete Taormina missing in 1956 from Philadelphia.I also asked for them to check both of those leads with John Doe Fort Mifflin 1957 for possible matches to him awhile ago.

Best suggestion I have is to go to one of their NamUs profiles to ask they be compared. I'm not sure if the system checks for family relation with UP's like it compares MP's to UP's.

Looks like the genealogist Barbara Rae-Venter who found Joseph DeAngelo and Robert Evans is working on this case. The article just came out.

“I have quite a number of cases … in progress,” Rae-Venter said. “I’m hoping to get results as early as next week.”

One is the “Boy in the Box,” a 1957 cold case out of Philadelphia where an unknown boy aged 3 to 7 years old was found murdered in a cardboard box.

This is so awesome.I pray they find out who he is.

So glad someone has finally taken on this case! Praying she finds relatives who have entered DNA into the genealogy databases.

Indeed, and if she's prepared to take on one case of a young child who was very possibly killed by his parents or guardians then we can hope she will take on more of them, maybe even specialise in them.

She did the Bear Brook Murder case. Actually she found that Bob Evans was Terry Rasmussen. I wonder if she is working on the four victims?
