Do not know if it is true or not, Yoda. Agree it is confusing....am even having trouble searching names. But considering this is a family from India...am feeling it be disrespectful not to include the feelings of their native land. Especially considering the media outlets in the USA are not known for gospel truth reporting.

And I am chuckling to myself because as I thought about what I had read yesterday and then the article you just posted it actually kind of matches up. Three men rushed in killed her took the child. Why would three men do this? It could be something related to India.

Both Mom and Dad are employed in the tech sector-professional careers and both were reported to have been at work when the attack occured.

Understand, and in no way did I mean to diss their media. They just seemd to have a lot of info that seemed far fetched, but the more I thought about it the more is seems plausible. Moo

Wondered that also, Yoda, re related to India. Perhaps that is why LE is holding info close to chest. Is not a simple (pardon the use of the word simple) abduction per USA standards.

Thanks Indigator. Do you have a source or link for this info?

Per India media:

The FBI is investigating the case. The baby was last spotted around 1pm on Monday at Marquis Apartment in King Circle.
The parents were not present at the time of the attack, the three assailants entered Siva Prasad's apartment and tried to abduct the girl. Satyavathamma resisted the kidnapping. She was shot by the attackers and succumbed to her injuries.

I have a wee bit of hesitancy in believing these reports as any sort of "official facts" for a number of reasons. First, this is half way across the globe, with nothing more stated than the "FBI is investigating the case." Another reason is, considering the global nature of the Internet, I really doubt our FBI or other LE would release such details to family in India and assume it wouldn't be spewed all over the place HERE, while they remain so "tight-lipped" about it here. Give me a break.
Also, it doesn't match a different new article I read earlier from India:
http://www.thehindu.com/news/states...us-granddaughter-kidnapped/article4026495.ece
Sorry, but I will wait for the REAL investigation to disclose "facts," with all due respect.

How would anyone know it was three perps? I don't think there were any witnesses, were there?

No disrespect taken...had already replied to Yoda re this article.

Here's one for you. Listed at the bottom of page one.

Um, possibly just my sheer ignorance on Indian naming conventions and all, but I did notice that the biological parents have totally different names... whichever are considered "last" names. Are they actually married? Divorced? Even live together? Is it even important?

Yeah, was merely adding my own "hinky meter" to yours and posting the other article to question that 'news.'
"with all due respect" was more... global (no pun intended) :)

Articles posted in previous posts indicate parents are married and live together. Perhaps a member of Indian descent will come along to explain how names are established.

They are married. Many cultures don't have the same naming conventions for married women. My family in Italy keep their surname and the kids get the hubby's surname.

Reward offered for safe return of Montco baby

The child’s parents, father Venkata Konda Siva Venna and mother Chenchu Latha Punuru, immigrated to the United States from India in February 2007. Having previously lived in San Antonio, Troy, Mich., and Cleveland, the couple moved to King of Prussia in June.
Both are software specialists, with the father employed in the Upper Merion area and the mother employed in Upper Dublin.

Keep thinking that grandmom was killed to keep her from identifying someone. That would indicate the abductor was someone she could identify. Wonder if the husband or wife had extra-marital affairs or anything like that. Certainly doesn't seem likely. Was the baby adopted? Was the mother or father working on national security projects?

We know so little...

I, too, have been wondering about these very things, especially the latter that I highlighted. Five years in the US, are they here on visas, applied for/granted citizenship? Could this be some sort of horrific "warning" over something one of them (or both) be involved with? I usually hate going "007" on stuff like this, but this case does look strange. Who would want to not only kill the poor grandmother, but kidnap this little baby, too??
Sometimes I really do think the world is going a bit too nuts. <sigh>

I try to avoid thinking in those terms as well, but a good investigator goes where the road leads;) They arruved in the US in February 2007, they've lived in San Antonio, Troy Michigan, Ohio and now PA. That is nearly a move per year. Family all over the US but it seems a good many in this area (Philly/S JErsey), so it would make sense to want to be near family since they now have a baby.
