I also wonder if the DT didn't want him to testify because he was going to establish that JA was not in abusive relationships her entire life and she wasn't a victim. There whole mitigation seems to hinge on that perspective, hence her mother not testifying on her behalf either.

You got it, DB says their relationship was not abusive. Direct contradiction to what the DT is trying to claim in their mitigating factors. The same is true with Mum - unless Mum was willing to lie and fall on the sword, she couldn't say Jodi was abused either. If what the murderer said in her post conviction interview is true, that her lawyers said she had no mitigating factors, it is likely Nurmi was being brutally honest with her because he knew the truth. Today's hissy was in response to JM simply doing the job he is required to do and Nurmi's frustration with a controling client who has prevented him and Wilmott from the doing their jobs as required. At this point I suspect neither of her lawyers were willing to subjorn perjury on the murderer's behalf, thus, call no witnesses and let it go.

I really think we need the attorneys thought on this. It is very strange indeed. I just have a hunch that the last few days of this trial have been more about the strategy for appeal. Kinda like watching an NBA playoff when my team (always the one facing off with the Lakers for some reason) would just send in the bench and hope for a better game in the next round (or that Kobe would fall off a grandstand and break a leg - )

I'm just so confused about why Darryl Brewer cannot testify on JA's behalf? I realize the defense is probably setting her up for appeals, but it seems strange to me that he was all set and ready to go and then the defense basically gave no reason for why he was not allowed to testify. It was like it was a package deal, either both witnesses testify or none. I'm utterly confused.

I also find it bizarre how her ex of several years focuses on what a good worker she was, time and again. I mean, that's his takeaway? She was a good waitress?

Am wondering if it was a tactic by the defense to set up appeals by not allowing Darryl to testify? This is just crazy, this was a witness for the defense. In Darryl's interview he said he was stalled and then learned that he was not going to testify with no reason given. Something stinks here!

I think he is referencing her mental state since 'magical thinking' is a term often used in Mental Health to allude to people experiencing cognitive distortions.

That is what I thought he meant...and that when she joined PPL and the Church her mental state declined.

Maladaptive daydreaming to soothe anxieties is sometimes linked to BDP also.

That and they don't want to let go of the $2500 a day per Attorney paycheck Willmott and Nurmi are getting off of the State of Arizona Taxpayers. It's a travesty how much those attorneys have abused the taxpayers.

Something is up about the Mom and other direct relatives NOT testifying. There is some sort of devious plan about that. Think about it, they sit there every day and yet they are not going to say anything to save her life. I cry FOWL. Something is up and I dont know what devious plan it is, but one thing for sure.....

There is a plan and them not testifying is part of it.

Mom and Dad can talk about her childhood and Sis can talk about her adulthood as she testified that they had a good relationship...I don't get it...what a kerfuffle!

Yeah, and she was just using Daryl because she needed a home and security, for all we know he may just have been a guy that presented no challenge, therefore nothing to go postal over.

When they met, she probably respected the boss, as most everyone else did.

When he was no longer the boss, now paying child support and probably alimony, with both of them upside down in that Palm Desert house that was to be her entrée into the real estate mogul lifestyle, DB as JA's gravy train was derailed.

He should thank himself every day that he didn't make her the beneficiary of a very large life insurance policy.

I agree. The DT has some devious plan with all this. JVM earlier said he was in the hotel next door waiting to go and the DT did not call him. So, from what I heard he was ready and willing. The DT probably purposely did not call him, and then later they are going to say that there was some kind of confusion and that is what they are going to base their appeals on.

It is all a DT tactic and I sure hope the judge has asked for help in her rulings to be sure things are done right. The DT is trying something and this DB thing and the mom not testifying are all part of it IMO.
