JeanC Live:

- MA, his attorney, tells us it does not favor his client (the HCorpus decision they should have by Wednesday)

He is appealing for JVS's freedom? per JC? Well, at least it is obvious he is NOT a flight risk! Duh!

His attorney told Jean that the HCorpus is not in his favor.

Epiph: Guess, will start to prepare the appeal because the decision is unlikely to be in his favor (We'll know probly by Wednesday).

IS Jean C: Official Press Release

Although under the law he had to make a formal statement, JVS refused to give a declaration of the facts of the case. All he would say is his due process rights were violated. He refused to give a statement on anything else. He didn't want to give a statement and he's waiting until there is a resolution on the habeas corpus investigation (on Wed).

It won't jeopardize the judicial process which will move forward on the case.

Yes, and Mother will need to find something left over each and every day to see both of them through to young adulthood. Siblings often forgotten (unintentionally) in situations where one child is consuming the parent's emotional resources and energy.

Agreed. I personally think AVDS is dealing this as well as can be expected.

The Atlantic City Casino's website advertises payouts in "dolares" (dollars)--see this page. http://www.acity.com.pe/

Thank you. I translated the advertisement and it reads: "thousands of dollars weekly to Savannah moons". See ETA

Still looking for it to read American dollars.

ETA: I made an error when typing a Spanish word for translation. I inadvertently used the word "lunas" when it should be "lunes". The correct translation is : thousands of dollars a week from Monday to Saturday

ABC's Report on JVS's Recanting Confession:

This one has some extra highlights (embellishments?)

The Dutch playboy also complained that he has to share his prison cellblock with a Colombian murderer, a corrupt Peruvian general and rats that creep into his cell through the toilet at night.

As ABC News reported at the time of his arrest, van der Sloot appeared confused before signing some police documents. He even asked his interrogatiors, "This only says I understand what my rights are, correct?"

Thanks for this SH! I saw this coming~

Thank you Suzihawk ... I missed the end of In Session ... but knew y'all would be on top of the story. So, Joran can live in fantasy land for two more days, eh?

Okay... I hate to go back to the beginning here, but I wonder if Stephany didn't have any intention of hanging around in Joran's room for very long.

In his confession, he says:

... I got up thinking what to do. There was also blood on my shirt and on the bed. When I took my shirt and I pushed it hard on her face, until she was dead. Then I thought: now what? I left the hotel but the receptionist told me I had to move the car...

I would assume this is a high traffic area with no parking allowed except for maybe a loading/unloading space or a space or two for temporary parking.

It makes me think she wasn't planning on staying long. Maybe to quickly retrieve money she loaned him? Rather than hanging out for any of the other various reasons speculated.

I don't know what difference it makes in the scheme of things, if any, except to (maybe) narrow down her reasons for being there. Maybe I'm making something out of nothing??

I've toyed with the idea that they were just acquaintances and that she had lent him money that evening and went back to his room to get it back too suzihawk. That was before some of the other things started coming to light and the video of them at the casino was released.

I also think there was a lot of truth in Joran's confession that he is now trying to get thrown out. He was scared for sure and he knew LE had tons of evidence...especially when he saw those videos. IMO he is smart enough to know the things he can't lie about when there is hard evidence to catch him in his lies. He's been through this before and his father probably certainly taught him a thing or two about how evidence will catch you in a lie.

I think they had become platonic "friends"....well in Stephany's mind anyway. For him, I think he was just setting her up to scam her out of money for the tournament. He knew she had money, was from a weathy family and was a lesbian. It was never about sex IMO. That is why she trusted him. She was confident he wouldn't try to rape her but she sadly had no idea who and what she was dealing with here. She might have agreed to lend him money for the tournament because it's more fun to play poker with a friend at the table. Plus they might have agreed to split winnings or whatever else they may have been planning to do.

I actually believe some of the information about them going on his computer to play online poker and him receiving a FB message about NH. He knows they have his computer and can verify this information. It is not a coincidence IMO that this happened on the anniversary of NH's disappearance because I would imagine that on any other day, Joran would not have been receiving FB messages from people on his friend's list regarding NH. He might have accepted a friend request recently from someone who was just pretending to be a friend and was setting up to blast him on that anniversary. I'm sure he had weeded out anyone else who may have been on there that was against him long ago.

So perhaps once he got angry at the message and then told Stephany the story of NH, well his version of it anyway, she decided that she no longer wanted anything to do with him. Maybe she did know a little about that story herself and didn't think he was such a good guy any more. They probably argued and she grabbed her keys to leave as he said, he wouldn't let her leave. His meal ticket was about to head out the door and he had wasted days grooming her to get money out of her. Can you imagine his rage? Especially if he could once again attribute this to NH? And...well we know the rest.

As far as the moving of the vehicle goes...again that part does not make sense since it had already been there for 3 hours, other than as an excuse as to why he did actually "move" her car. He didn't steal it you know, he just "moved" it because he was told to. About 50 blocks because he couldn't find a spot any closer I guess? :waitasec: Or he was probably asked to move it when he was actually leaving with the bags and telling them not to wake his girlfriend. No problemo...he moved it alright.

If I was forced to share very close quarters with a well known hit man that is not likely to ever see the outside of the prison walls again, I just don't know that I would be making public statements about not enjoying his company.

Of course I have never thought Joran was the mastermind that many people seem to give him credit for being.

I'm certainly no expert, but it seems to me he's getting some bum advice from his high profile lawyer seeing as how the Court requests (requires?) him to give declaration or face the real possibility of a stiffer sentence for not doing so. :waitasec: I think he's playing with fire. He's certainly not winning favor with those already ready to throw the book at him, at the very least. But whaddo I know?

Today's court proceedings:

"...the judge stayed for nearly an hour inside the prison, and finally had to put on record the refusal of the Netherlands in a joint report with the prosecutor. "

"In the frustrated also took care of the Dutchman 's lawyer , Max [Aletz] , who retired without giving statements to the press." - very poor Google translation....I think this is trying to say that his lawyer also left in frustration.

"...just before the arrival of the judge, Van der Sloot watched the game Switzerland -Chile accompanied by the hit man Ospina Colombian Alejandro Trujillo."

Maybe Joran is waiting for the court to offer to pay him for his statement/interview. :D

I am a bit adrift on this one too. With having 'foreign' lawyers present and this last minute HC writ -- kind of flies in the face of the ''tradition'' of the Peru system (referring to past information here that today was the day that JVDS was obliged to answer the Jurist's questioning). I keep hearing the Jim Croce song in my mind as I write (.... don't pull on Superman's cape...don't spit into the wind,...don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger,.etc)

"contrary to some news reports Sunday ... from Lima..., New York attorney Joe Tacopina is not going to Peru (at least not at this time) but he has been consulting with Joran's mother and assisting her in securing a top attorney in Peru."

This article also offers some clear explanations of the different murder charges and related sentences in Peru.

I don't know. The Clown appears to be a psychopath, as well (Doesn't matter his nickname.). May "understand" nothing personal.

That is so true--she must not have been planning on staying for very long!

Here's a sad "what if" --what if the desk clerk had gone to the room after the loading zone time had expired (assuming it was a loading zone) to request they move the car --he or she might have stopped the murder from happening.

There's gonna be an exclusive interview with Anita van der Sloot on Dutch TV tomorrow. Don't know if anyone is interested but I'll keep you updated!

I for one am very interested in this exclusive interview.....please please keep up informed and updated.

thank you very much

I don't know why he would be complaining about his Columbian new BF....I thought they shared poker, tv and even wonderful times spent together. LOL

As for the rats he claims come out of his toilet.......yucky.....One rat to another, so it really shouldn't bother him too much.:furious::furious::furious:
