The original Peruvian sol did have a 1000 sole bill. However, the current Peruvian currency is the nuevo sol (since 1991) whose paper currency is only issued in 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 sole denominations.

 I should have gone back and reread my own post when I was looking for the bills. It clearly stated "nuevo sol". :blushing:

This situation makes me very nervous. After all the false positives that we heard out of Aruba, I worry that there will be loopholes or exceptions that will help the slimy one slip through the grasp of justice once again. I want someone to tell me to stop worrying, that he will finally face the consequences of his narcissistice and dangerous behavior.

Just STOP worrying he will never worm his way out if this!
NO way can he get away with this, NO WAY
IMO

From reading a couple of blogs on the net.
The Atlantic City casino is open 24/7 and the currency is US dollars.

Probably, because of the tourist trade. Soooooo, when they say $ they mean $.
IMO

In this article, it mentions that Stephany won 28,000 soles on May 24...that is approx. $10,000. However, on the video clip at 3:06, it shows her cashing in her winnings on May 29....and it appears to me she's being paid in soles, not dollars....possibly since she's a Peruvian, not a tourist. I believe the narrator also states the amount of soles she won on May 29, but I can't understand the amount. No hable espaniole! IIRC from previous posts, it equated to around $1700.

Do they know about how long was he gone between the time he went to get the coffee and his return to the hotel room?

He left his room at 8:13 AM and returned to his room at 8:24 AM. This is the camera time outside of his room.

Cut and dried. Black and white. No wiggle room. Said and done. Let it be written; let it be done.

I'm working on a mantra to comfort myself when I get worried about the outcome.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, we all would a rest better!

The more Joran add more lies to what he has already said to the authorities he will be digging himself in deeper and deeper.

They will charge him with Obstruction of Justice ......
Please if I am wrong here....someone correct me.
TIA

What about (a) possession of stolen property and
(b) skipping out on a hotel bill? (that's theft too I believe):twocents:

Thank you kindly, Carrington! :) I needed that! I am not even going to ask you what you base it on. I don't care. LOL! I just needed the reassurance, like Texas

Hmmm...hate to burst your bubble, but his ex-girlfriend Melody called him 'Mr. Wiggles'....LOL!!!!

Eeeeewe!!! IYKWIM. And don't be bursting my bubble. I have a vacation day today and watching IS on both CA and JVS. Now my stomach hurts!!

It makes no sense to me that the casino is paying out to the locals in American money. The exchange rate for the US dollar in Peru is $.35 cents.

OMG are you serious? That's almost too eerie for words!!!:waitasec::crosseyed:

Kamille, do you think prior to the murder that he was already fishing around for someone slimy enough to help him dispose of her body?

Just my opinion, of course, but I don't think this murder was planned out in advance. He doesn't seem that methodical to me. I certainly could be wrong.

I Googled my brains out, trying to get the answer.
All I could find are comments make by Bloggers about their experiences.
If you Google Atlantic City Casino Peru the info is very limited.

Free Food Free Drinks US dollars after 9:00 PM Open 24/7

You need a link indicating this is fact, not from a blog.

ABC's Report on JVS's Recanting Confession:

This one has some extra highlights (embellishments?)

The Dutch playboy also complained that he has to share his prison cellblock with a Colombian murderer, a corrupt Peruvian general and rats that creep into his cell through the toilet at night.

As ABC News reported at the time of his arrest, van der Sloot appeared confused before signing some police documents. He even asked his interrogatiors, "This only says I understand what my rights are, correct?"

Thanks for that link FLNY. It makes sense that the $10,000 her family is referring to was from an earlier win since all reports about the evening in question indicate that she had won a much smaller amount. She probably had gone through some of that $10,000 in subsequent trips to the poker table though, or maybe even increased it, so it is tough to get a true read on just how much Joran stole from her. She probably also told Joran about her big win on the 24th which is how he probably knew she had a good amount of disposable cash to gamble with.
