beach2yall, I have some videos of the coverage of Joran on my You Tube channel. Some of the videos have links to news articles as well as transcripts of Nancy and Issues coverage of Joran. Here is the link to my channel, just in case you want to add it to your list of reference material

Unless he gets put in solitary, he won't last long in jail there imo.

They don't even have medical facilities, beds for all the prisoners, or functioning bathrooms to accomodate the masses.... he is not going to be in protective custody. This is not an american prison.

I know exactly what you are saying. If you watched that prison video - they even deny water to those prisoners. The water is only turned on twice a day and there is never enough for everyone to "fill a bucket". Now, we can't go into another country and tell them how to run their prisons; and the Geneva Convention doesn't fit because it is a soverign nation running its own prisoners - but yet to deny water? IDK

IF JVDS ends up there - he is certainly not going to last too long. Unless he unleashes his "charm" and gets in ggod with some of the inmates that "run the prison" - but I kinda doubt that.

OMG what a scary place. He'll never last. They all have tattoos. I don't think he even has one, not that makes a difference. I need more coffee...

I keep wondering about Stephany's winnings if there were any. Who did she beat? Where is that person?

Thank you, Patty! (I also enjoy your personal commentary. :))

Hindsight is 20/20, as they say, and they couldn't possibly have had the foresight to see into the future what he was going to do. Maybe they were holding out hope he would really spill his guts this time? Maybe they did notify the Aruban authorities promptly and, in true form, they dropped the ball and didn't act quickly enough - or at all? I'm sure there is plenty of regret to go around. Woulda, coulda, shoulda and all that...

The bottom line is no one is responsible for Stephany's murder except JVDS himself.

The one thing I'm in total agreement with re: Greta is that the results of the bungling?, or error in judgment?,? are tragic for everyone involved.

Hi, SuziHawk. There was no bungling. The extortion case didn't materialize into charges because it was ongoing: Obviously, all concerned had good reason to see if Joran would go further to seize more cash and make more commitments. The Arubans had been contacted because if all worked out right, Joran could be drawn back to the island.

I think he would do whatever it took to benefit himself. JMOO.

The FBI only has authority to arrest someone on foreign soil if they have the permission of the host country AND if Congress authorized an extraterritorial arrest for that particular crime. Extortion and Wire fraud is not among the crimes so authorized --and Greta should know better. I think Greta has some nerve to criticize the FBI here or anyone for that matter--I remember quite clearly how Greta announced her belief in Joran's innocence and rode the Joran is wrongfully accused bandwagon.

you're right kimmie - but remember he's not on "his turf"; he does't speak the language; he's accused of killing a Peruvian citizen; - he'll be the "new pretty lil gringo boy".

His charm is gonna have to be top notch, first class "street " to get him any clout in this place. He has no money - no relatives to visit and "bring him stuff".

Nope - he's screwed!!!!
(in more ways than one)

She was playing at a Casino, more than one person would have been at the table, probably many. Poker is usually not a one on one game.
IMO

True that! I wonder if he'll even live very long once he hits Peruvian soil.

He probably knew someone was tracking him. Some of the news stories said he had flown to Peru from Columbia, so he was moving from place to place.

He was playing in several tournaments as part of the Latin American Poker Tour.

Apparently, the young poker pro had travelled from Aruba, Colombia, and onto Argentina, as he took part in the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT). Joran van der Sloot then arrived in Lima to join the LAPT Lima poker event, which was due to start on June 2, when the incident occurred.

Oh yeah, she sure did, didn't she? I think that was around the time I stopped watching her! :furious:

I remember that Greta had a two night sit down interview with Joran. At the end of the interview, her conclusion was that he was innocent and that she believed everything that he told her.

Sometimes I hate being on the West Coast--so many posts while I'm sleeping! I've always been perplexed how anyone could have thought Joran innocent in Natalee's case. The simplest scenario is usually what happened. He was the last one to see her--he admitted he was alone with her on the beach--he lied about that night repeatedly and acted throughout the whole investigation as a guilty person. More than that--he was only 17 at the time yet acted so arrogantly, flippantly, showing no concern for Natalee's whereabouts at all--what kid acts like that unless he's a sociopath??? Seriously, for those of you that still think he might be innocent of this crime: what are the odds?

I've been thinking the same thing. There are many, many expert snipers down there.

I'm hoping they don't kill him until there is a chance he'll "spill" on something - anything. But, then again, he may never talk.

I said last night (after watching that prison video) that even THAT nasty, dirt floor, hole in the ground toilet, dump of a prison is too good for him. But it is what it is. At least he's in Peru in THAT prison and not here in the good ole USA where our prisons look like Hiltons compared to those conditions - KWIM?

Just wait, she will add Sarah Palin in there somewhere......I am beginning to wonder if she is gonna run with Palin in the next election. I used to love her, when she did the investigative reporting but now, I can't stand her.

I used to be one of Greta's biggest fans. I was one of the first ever commenters on Greta Wire and would NEVER miss an episode.

There have been numerous references in the JVDS threads about people missing the old Greta shows. So you are not alone.

When JVDS was on the run I did a comment on Gretawire saying I stopped watching when the show changed, but that I hope she followed this story because it is what she does best. Then this other guy commented I was just a radical lefty who doesn't like that Greta says the truth! LOL LOL LOL I was like "Umm I don't think so - her time reporting on Natalee and Stacy Peterson with the legal panel was her best work ever!"

Maybe Fox should put on Kimberley Guilfoyle and Geraldo at 11pm EVERY NIGHT doing crime follow up. I hardly tune in at all anymore because it is all politics. We get enough politics!!

Sorry rant over! LOL

I agree, but still feel there was more to it. Maybe he thought it would be a good way to double the $15 000. But I suspect he felt he was being watched, he just didn't care.
