Good Point! The charming nature that JVDS is though, and fear from her father, I really think she thought it not a problem to crash. She never thought JVDS was a sociopath.

Still she didn't know the guy. Did he really seem so harmless?

Can someone confirm if it was Rohypnol warppers found in the jeep?

Effects of Rohypnol-
The sedative and toxic effects of Rohypnol are aggravated by concurrent use of alcohol. The drug’s effects begin within 30 minutes, peak within 2 hours, and may persist for up to 8 hours or more, depending upon the dosage. A single dose of Rohypnol, as small as 1 mg., can produce effects for 8-12 hours after ingestion.
When combined with alcohol or other drugs, Rohypnol can impair judgment and motor skills and cause memory loss or blackouts (lasting 8 to 24 hours after ingestion). Loss of inhibition can also occur, with or without alcohol. A person under the influence of Rohypnol can appear to be drunk, display no coordination, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Sedation can occur as soon as 20 minutes after ingestion. The drug's effects will peak within 2 hours and may persist for up to 8 hours or more, depending on the dosage. Other adverse effects associated with flunitrazepam include visual disturbances, drowsiness, confusion, decreased blood pressure, memory impairment, gastrointestinal disturbances and urinary retention. When mixed with alcohol, Rohypnol may cause respiratory depression, aspiration or even death. Although classified as a depressant, Rohypnol can rarely induce excitability or aggressive behavior. The drug can cause profound "anterograde amnesia"; that is, individuals may not remember events they experienced while under the effects of the drug. This may be why one of the street names for Rohypnol is "the forget-me pill."

Could explain why her gait seemed unsteady, and the lack of conversation between the two.
I'd like to see more video from the casino, to see what her demeaner was earlier.Ie: if she was chatty and animated.
And to see what time she had her last drink there.

After watching the video numerous times, I get the feeling that Stephany does not want to be seen...or perhaps recognized since she is the daughter of a prominent citizen. As for the way she's following him, it strikes me as if they are going to his room for a particular purpose. Since she is not visibly carrying a purse, could she have possibly just left it in her car, not planning on being in his room for long?

It's entirely possible he simply asked for a ride to his hotel. When they arrived, she asked to use his bathroom? He took it as she wanted more, she said no, and things got out of hand. Unfortunatly, this is something we will probably never know.

I think the misconception with sociopaths as they appear so attractive and charming (Scott Peterson, and many others). At 5 AM and probably drinking all night, and a fight with her Dad, her judgement was not good.

Good point nephers! Hadn't thought of that! Stupid question here...do they have public restrooms in the lobbies of hostels?

She was raised with 4 brothers & probably figured she could hold her own against most guys, Also her status quo with her Dad being who he was nobody would dare mess with her / could of given her a false sense of security. Little did she know she ran into Satan himself.....:furious:

One of her friends said in an interview that she would never go to a stranger's room, because she was aware of what could happen. She lived there- she would have had a friend she could call and stay with if she didn't want to go home. I think he asked her for a ride to the hotel and drugged her without her knowledge. The way she walks into that hotel just looks so off- she's like a zombie.

I do not see Stephany carrying anything in her hands as she follows JVS to his room. Did anyone else notice that, or am I missing it? How did her wallet/purse end up in the room?

I didn't notice her carrying anything either. I think all Joran had in his hand was the key to the room. We've heard reports that Stephany was found wearing a jacket, but the video shows her walking through the hotel lobby in a sleeveless top, no jacket, and not carrying one either. Where did the jacket and purse come from?

I think she needed to "crash" and he said, no problem I have a room paid up for 14 days....(assuming that the fight with dad would make her not want to go home).

That's a good guess. I really don't see anything odd watching them walking to his room. Knowing what did happen to this poor girl I think we tend to over analyze every movement trying to understand why.

The crime happened in Aruba. The FBI has no jurisdicition in Aruba. We went through this during the Natalee Holloway investigation.

During Natalee's investigation, the FBI was allowed there as an observer. Aruba played it up to make it appear they were allowing the FBI to participate, but they weren't. The FBI had a dive team there and they weren't even allowed to dive. They sat on the sidelines watching the Arubans dive. The FBI wasn't allowed to dive so they eventually left the island.

During Joran's interrogation, the FBI were there as 'observors.' They were completely FRUSTRATED.

During this sting, the crime was against a U.S. citizen, including the 'wire transfer' to Holland, so he may have been eligible for prison time in U.S., I heard 6 years, but it would HAVE TO BE the Aruban LE to arrest him in Aruba. That's where they were. The Arubans could have arrested him on 'suspcion of extortion' and held him up to 30 days. But they did NOT arrest him, just kept him under surveilance.

JMHO
fran

It would seem that it was the Arubians, not the U.S., that let Joran leave Aruba and go to Peru........along with the money he extorted from Beth Holloway. Another glaring example of how the Arubians failed to do their duty.

The reports on the jacket didn't state what type of jacket. She possibly could have said she was cold (I understand from a previous post that it's winter there) and he gave her one of his jackets to put on. The purse, I don't know unless he's carrying it for her - perhaps a clutch- and he just stuck it in his waistband beneath the long shirt he has on.

I still can't get over the fact the hotel worker didn't check the room for 72 hours...didn't he find it odd that JVDS just disappeared!

What I read the yesterday in one of these threads was that JVDS had paid for the room for a total of 14 days. When he left there were 3or 4 more days still paid for in advance. Because of that I don't think the desk clerk thought he was leaving for good. Also, somewhere in this thread the desk clerk reportedly told LE that JVDS told them "not to bother my girl." Will try to find these and will post again. That could take awhile. LOL

Joran doesn't seem to be carrying anything out of the room either. I guess he had her car keys, the room key, and the cup of coffee in his pocket.

I don't see her holding anything in her hands. No purse, no cellphone, absolutely nothing.

Was she not planning on staying long? If indeed she won money at the casino, why leave it in the car?
I have NEVER left my purse in the car. Or my cellphone.

He does not appear drunk. Neither does she. They have been up all night, returning to his room around 5ish am.....he leaves three hours later....did they just go to sleep for the time being....did she?.....did he?
He doesn't even look tired when he leaves the hotelroom.
What am I missing here? ugh!

Aruban injustice strikes again!!!!
