Ehh... not sure I go that far with the theory. My thought is they (FBI) was still trying to build and solidify their case. So why would they spill their guts to JVDS to say 'game's over' in that case? JVDS may have smelled a rat, however, and come to that conclusion himself. JMO and all that.

I just hope the FBI comes out with the truth, I think it's better than being caught in a lie.

The source familiar with the case said the FBI and U.S. Attorneys Office in Alabama arranged for a meeting where an undercover agent paid Van der Sloot $10,000 in cash and another $15,000 in a wire transfer for his information on the location of Holloway's body in Aruba.

I'm not entirely caught up with the last couple of pages I skimmed but I didn't see this link to the FBI Birmingham Press Release yet.

"Some news accounts have suggested that the FBI provided $25,000.00 in funds that were transmitted to van der Sloot. This is incorrect. The funds involved were private funds." . . . and much more at link.

Just IMHO about the part of your post I bolded.

JMHO but he did it because:

1. He could
2. He wanted to
3. Some other unnamed pathological reason we don't know about

Dangerous man there IMHO.

IMHO, he kept beating her because he was broke, high, lacking sleep, and is just plain full of rage. He probably also knew the FBI was onto him for his lies again. He could take it ALL out on her because NOTHING is his fault.

It infuriates me that our tax dollars were used to fund this moron's trip to Peru which in turn caused Stephany's death. I am pissed about this. I'm sorry but why is NH's death since 5 years ago a 25k expense? There are tons of missing children, women and some men in this country. How much hard cash is used to find them? What makes her case so special? I hope I don't get in trouble for saying this. I feel for Beth Twitty but there are kids like Adji and Haylee missing. This type of money has not been spent on them. I know as a minority woman if I went missing the FBI would not spend 25 bucks on me. I hope this method of doing business stops. It literally caused the death of another!!!!
Joran contacted someone and started the ball rolling on this not the FBI.

Private funds from where? Would it be so hard to say where they came from. It was probably from another agency. IMO, it really doesn't matter where the funds came from this was the FBI's baby and they should have had all the scenarios in their heads of what could go wrong.

Poor Poor Stephany...To had to endure all that TERRIBLE rage from him....and lost her young life...due to his mistakes...

Your post .....says it all...

SAD SAD SAD.....RIP Stephany

On a positive note....HER death..help put him....FAR, DEEP, into the bowels of the Peru prison system...AWAY FROM SOCIETY and from FURTHER murders of young women...

That doesn't look like the location she was supposedly found in. I thought the diagrams showed her on the other side of the room?

I've been staring at this for quite some time now. If you look at the corner of the mattress, it does not appear that it is in place, in other words, where it should be when you compare to where the location of the TV. It looks like it should be moved over to the left of your screen, which would make SF body located between the wall and the bed.

I wonder what that little bottle of blue greenish content is on the table by the T.V as well as that white towel/garment/blanket next to the TV? Its creepy that you can see what appears to be his back pack under the table.

Thank you everyone who replied to my posts which such informative information.

Van der Sloot re-enactment not certain

snipped:

Lima, Peru (CNN) -- A re-enactment of the crime in which a Peruvian woman was killed may not take place because authorities could decide they already have enough evidence, Peruvian officials said Wednesday.

Interesting. Since we've learned that the re-enactment is part of the confession it sounds like joran may have pulled out or the confession doesn't match up with the evidence.
Either way, it still makes for a stiffer sentence for him if convicted.

She probably didn't scream. Not everyone is a screamer. I didn't scream when attacked, some people do and some people are more focused on fighting, getting away...etc...

Having been a victim/survivor or kidnapping and rape, I can say from first hand experience that I tried to scream and literally nothing would come out. My mouth was open and I was trying my hardest to scream at the top of my lungs but no sound would come out. It was like my vocal cords were paralyzed by fear.

You didn't need to do that, Patty. I'm good - no worries at all! ;)

I know some excellent WSer posted google maps and distances from Atlantic City Casino to Hotel TAC. Can someone point me to the information showing the distance? TIA

It won't surprise me if he starts with his head games again. Now that he knows that he has to do a reenactment for his confession to stick. We keep feeding this guys sickness.

It doesn't look like her shirt is dark (like we viewed on the surveillance videos) either. I'm not buying this as the real deal. I'm sure the article will state it's a look alike of sorts. NE is known for cover sensationalism with a truer story being inside. They don't want to get sued.

I did a google search for Peru Newspapers, I found this, it sounds like the Peruvian police do not think his confession was "sincere".

snipped from above:

Officers found several aggravating circumstances in the investigation against Van der Sloot and established that he acted with malice and ferocity against their victim to cause death, to thus seize the money she won hours earlier that day at the Atlantic City casino , so it is facing an offense against property with subsequent death, said a source.

Proof of this is that he was not the victim found any valuables in your vehicle and not on the crime scene. And the heavy blows inflicted on his victim were not only to frighten or reduce it, but had every intention of killing her. The version that holds over the circumstances that to act with extreme violence is an alibi for the sole purpose of reducing the crime.

Didn't it say she also had a beige shirt on?? That look beige-ish in the pic to me. Could still be totally fake, though.

Excellent find! Bears repeating.
