Excerpt from May 5, 2011 Public Safety Committee of Suffolk County Legislature:

Chief Varrone: We had made up our minds that we were going to expand the search after the snow-melt and prior to the growing of the foliage in the spring, which we did. And that, of course, resulted in a find on March 29th by a Marine Bureau Officer who happened to be -- after we had done another extensive search in the Oakdale area -- again, we're still looking for Shannon Gilbert -- he's driving along Ocean Parkway towards the end of our search on that particular day and something catches his attention on the side of the road.
(BBM)

OAKDALE???

Is this a Varrone misspeak? Or a typo by the court stenographer who took the minutes and it was supposed to be Oak Beach?

Or is this a whole new piece of information?

Nice catch! IMO... typo or mistake on Varrone's part. But, with this case, who the heck knows?!

:notgood:

I need to find the source, but I always found it interesting that Pak claimed in one interview I read to have searched along the causeway for SG up until 6am. Something about that makes me wonder if he ran into her and strangled her out off the road in the bramble for messing up his deal OR for finding out something incriminating about him/JB.

Just as a car can be used to drop off alive escorts to a John's house so a car can also be used to pick up dead escorts to dispose of after a John has had too rough of a session with that escort - For the right price.

I've wondered if maybe JB got rough with SG and alluded to her about how her driver might be willing to turn a blind eye and dispose of her should he choose to get even more rough and kill her. Whether Pak would do this or not who knows, but we do know LISK likes to taunt and use speech to freak people out. Maybe JB, if LISK, said the same sort of things to SG. Maybe JB toyed with SG by freaking her out and thought she would just stay silent rather than call the police. SOMETHING triggered SG to run away from both JB and her driver that night Pak... BUT MOST CERTAINLY SOMETHING JB SAID/DID WAS THE CATALYST AND IT WAS CREEPY ENOUGH FOR SG TO NOT EVEN TRUST HER SAFETY DRIVER. I think JB manipulated her mind with terror that night. Shanan was not a wimp - this girl had seen the meanest of streets. She wouldn't freak over an insinuation or "gut feeling".

Then JB puts his home she ran away from up for sell within a year of her disappearance. So freaking strange! An excuse to renovate some "questionable" areas/fixtures of the house that could of had evidence? LE should have secured that home somehow, but I'm sure there was no legal way of doing so as there was no proof an actual crime occurred there... unless they could have used him having a prostitute in the home as an excuse for asset forfeiture. But hey, lots fell through the cracks back then.

In my opinion everything comes back to the 2 men she ran from that night.

Daisy Chains,

If you go to the beginning of this thread I have posted media information regarding MP and his statements. If you review these you should find all the statements MP made regarding his activities at Oak Beach and SG.

I support your theory of important involvement by MP in the demise of SG.

We do know SG left JB's house alive, with MP pursuing her. So the theory that JB killed or harmed SG and had MP dispose of the body is a little tenuous. However that still left the opportunity for MP to catch SG and harm her, or take her to someone who would or did do her harm.

We do not know at what level there was a CSI investigation into JB's house. Based on the book 'Oak Beach Drifter' and it's allegations, certainly I feel a cadaver dog(s) should have been involved in the search of JB's house.

Since we are absolutely positive MP was one of the last persons to see SG alive, and he was pursuing her, I believe he is crucial to solving this case.

What did MP say when he found out that Shannan had called 911? I think it was something about getting in trouble. Maybe he was afraid of getting in serious trouble. Did he have any prior legal troubles?

MP told GC that GC should not have called 911. MP was a convicted felon, and I believed he served prison time for trying to smuggle a female illegally into the USA, if I remember correctly.

I sense any fear that MP had was related to the Police speaking to SG. I would think MP would not want SG making a full and complete detailed statement to the police as to what had had transpired in Oak Beach that night. Can you imagine if SG told the Police officer what had transpired at Brewer's house and the Officer then went and investigated and searched Brewer's house, and had MP detained. Brewer would not have had any time to clean up any evidence, there would be drug residue all over Brewer's house. Brewer could be arrested immediately at that point. MP would be held as an accessory pending further investigation at the minimum. SG could have given very detailed information.

It almost seems there was no way SG could be allowed to speak to the Police if MP and Brewer and possibly others wanted to stay out of jail.

Of course MP's occupation as a driver of women involved in prostitution violated a number of New York State laws and probably some federal laws. Because of the relationship between the sex trade and drugs, he likely was violating a number of drug laws as well. How many times was he transporting escorts who had drugs in their possession?

I do not believe that MP was afraid of being charged with providing transportation for sex workers, because LE tend not to charge the males involved in the periphery of the sex trade.

They might not typically charge the males, unless they're the perfect fall guy (felon, probably breaking some kind of probation or parole violations and doesn't have the connections of the oak beach elite. So maybe he did have the most to lose here?

Do not believe JB when he says he didn't pay. That is not how it works, with an escort you hand over the envelope when she comes through the door, or she leaves right away. They do not trust the clients to give the cash once the deed is done.

He is saying he didn't pay because that would be illegal and get him charged for using the services of a prostitute. He is not going to admit to that, so he will allways deny it and there is no one around to say otherwise.

If she was there for any length of time he must have paid.

that is exactly correct.
You pay for sex immediately and usually the girl walks it out to the pimp.
Usually the pimp never interacts with the john, only the girl is the go between
So JB paid Shannan for 2 hours and then Shannan either put it in her purse,
or walked it out to Pak.

She called him at 4:09am - probably to say he wanted another hour.

I see what you are implying, but MP returned the next day to Oak Beach, and I believe went to the Police to assist in filing a missing person's report.

I am just speculating here, but MP did not appear to have fear of LE related to his involvement in the sex-trade, I am suggesting he had fear related to specific activities taking place in Oak Beach that night and these being discovered by the Officer arriving in response to the 911 call(s).

If MP had connections with the Oak Beach elites and potentially being sure SG was not going to talk to any police officer, he acted very reasonably. and left before the police arrived.

We can speculate until the cows come home as to why MP left before the police arrived and never be sure we have the right answer. I suggest that if MP was concerned about being in the sex trade and the negative impact regarding his parole or previous convictions, why would he be driving out to Oak Beach in the first place so far from his comfort zone of operations.

Why did he not leave directly from JB's home whe MP learned that SG was calling 911. Why did not leave directly from GC's residence when he learned that GC called 911.

No MP stayed for a period of time afterwards chasing SG, then he left. I believe he left when his work was done in Oak Beach.

I don't disagree. I don't have a strong opinion of what MP's involvement was other than believing he's not innocent. What you said does get me thinking though. I'd be curious what parole terms were, because I imagine admitting to being a part of prostitution would have gotten him rearrested for at least violating it.

Based on the cop shows on TV I have seen, I believe 'party' as in 'do you want to party' has a sexual connotation, and might be what MP really meant being that he is in the 'trade'.
in the sex industry"party"usually means doing drugs together.

What's not to say that MP lied and actually DID find her that night? Can we even be certain that she was not taken back to Oak Beach later (as in next day or following week) on and dumped/killed?

While what you suggest has not been disproven it does seem highly unlikely. MP went back with AD to knock on doors at Oak Beach and went to the police station to help AD file a missing persons report. It's unlikely that a person if guilty of killing someone would have done either of those two things.

Yeah. TBT, I don't think that that's what happened either, lol. Just something I've wondered about for awhile despite it being fairly far-fetched. (I certainly don't want to get all ~conspiracy theory). But yeah, not a complete impossibility either.

what's not to say?

Pak IS a liar. And a convict. He fled the scene and left Shannan to die.
He's a lowlife. What more can I say.

I think we should look at the nissan maxima cuz at least two of the victims were last seen getting into one

Interesting. Excuse my ignorance (or absent-mindedness as I may've forgotten), but what's this about 2 of the victims getting into a Maxima? I know they were seen getting into a ~possibly dark-colored sedan IIRC. Where/when was it ever confirmed that said car was indeed a Nissan Maxima, or is this just a rumor? Got a link?
TIA.

Is this thread being confused with Bittrolff's thread? In which case one of the victims was seen getting into a dark colored blue car.

one things for sure why did he not wait for the police to arrive that morning when he hadnt found her as he claimed ? if he didnt leave they woulda searched and looked for her his decision to leave was fatefull to her death even if theres no real connection of him murdering her ?
