So you are saying the reason SDSO, a professional LE agency, refused cooperate with Bremner's team is because of MZL's comments? :what:

Link please...showing SDSO saying reason was result of MZL's comments.

I think it was a combination of the negative comments AND the lack of no new evidence but I doubt they'll ever admit it because they don't need to admit it.

RZ's family can't prove she was murdered. There is evidence she died in a suicide. In a nutshell, that is why LE won't reopen the investigation.

I know of several suicides who gave no hint of their emotional turmoil to their friends or family. Oftentimes, the first attempt is successful, thus no history.

I don't know where the idea comes from that LE is supposed to cooperate with a private attorney who has already very publicly criticized them. It didn't work for the Holloways in Aruba and I've never heard of any other case where such tactics have resulted in cooperation.

JMO

Some obstacles that the Zahau's have encountered in their quest to investigate and discover the circumstances of their sisters death are as follows:

The witness who found her body contaminated the scene via his own admission as he alleged that he did not know whether she was dead or not.

The same witness who thought Rebecca may have been alive while she was as he alleged "hanging" gave conflicting information about when he cut her down to attempt resuscitation. The LE investigative report clearly stated that he cut her down before calling 9-1-1 however on the actual 9-1-1 call he simulated doing it during the call. Additionally, he never removed the hand binding or ligatures around her neck that would have indicated an actual CPR attempt.

The only witness also had conflicting stories and no proof he actually found Rebecca hanging or that he did CPR with the hand bindings and neck ligatures in place.

Police failed to explain how the witness climbed a table with a broken leg to allegedly cut down the victim or how he got into the main house to get a knife.

The witness immediately assumed Rebecca "hung" herself and gave no indication of giving any consideration to other causes even though police considered that the death was violent and suspicious and had not ruled out homicide.

The victim's boyfriend upon receiving his brother's text message that Rebecca "hung herself" immediately passed that meme onto his ex-wife
but not until much later did he call the victims relatives. He also told them that she killed herself before the police investigation began.

Police did not do a psychological investigation and autopsy with subsequent hard evidence to support their later suicide determination.

So as you can clearly see the Shacknai brothers propagated and spread the suicide meme before the police investigation ever began.

In addition Jonah Shacknai alleged he left a disturbing message on Rebecca's voicemail which LE assumes led to suicide. However, there is no record of that voicemail anywhere.

LE assumed that Rebecca wrote a message on a door but did not analyse the handwriting and allowed the evidence to be purposefully destroyed.

LE forgot to investigate the cause of the four hemorrhages to Rebecca's forehead as well as the cuts and abrasions to her face, fingers, forearms, thigh, lower legs and back and the source of various blood samples found throughout the scene.

I could go on an on but I think this may give you an idea as to why unfortunately the Zahau's must endure this three ring circus to find some justice for their loved one. Nothing has been easy for them. They continue to struggle to obtain a fair, unbiased and completely thorough investigation here. Now they must also endure Dina's accusations as well. I definitely see them as victims in this also.

I've never understood why they even thought their criticism of multiple LE agencies would somehow result in getting what they wanted.

JMO

Do you think they would have obtained better results with a little bit of the right kind of honey?

I think it was a combination of the negative comments AND the lack of no new evidence but I doubt they'll ever admit it because they don't need to admit it.

JMO

Imo, most of the evidence that proved homicide was washed away.

For example, why wasn't the handwriting on the door analysed? Why was it painted over?

Another example, why wasn't Rebecca's cell phone accessed until the length of time it would take for LE to claim that Jonah's purportedly alleged trigger voice mail was forever deleted from the server?

Why didn't LE request that Adam do a LDT retest as was recommended?

Why didn't LE follow up on Nina's LDT since she was at the mansion that night?

Why did LE discount the neighbor's report of a woman's scream around the time Nina admitted to being there?

Why did LE discount a neighbor's reoport that they saw Dina at the house and acting strangely that night?

Why doesn't LE need to admit or explain how and why they do things?

I think it was a combination of the negative comments AND the lack of no new evidence but I doubt they'll ever admit it because they don't need to admit it.

If what you and CuriousGeorgia (<CG states it as fact, yet refuses to provide a link) are saying is true as in LE are unable to handle criticism and obviously do not appreciate being scrutinized, therefore refuse to PERFORM the duties they took an oath to do...they should step back and step down.

A family can't do anything at all to remove the obstacles you cite. There is no way LE can undo the sequence of events before they arrived or change witness statements or alter the fact that a man who tried to help her immediately thought she committed suicide. He wasn't a trained investigator nor was he expected to analyze the situation to determine whether foul play was involved and neither were other members of his family. He broke no laws when he assumed she was a suicide and conveyed his opinion to others. I've yet to see any proof that AS, JS or anyone else has lied. Those elements of this case haven't changed in more than a year now and even the media seems to be now focused on MS.

The family has every right to feel it has been a 3-ring circus but it was their choice to use the media to publicly attack the multiple agencies involved in the investigation. DS didn't go to the media, she hired her own experts yet the LE response to both families may be exactly the same: no.

A family's feelings aren't going to result in the version of justice they want just because they want it. They need new evidence and until that is obtained and it clearly convinces the ME, I think both cases will remain closed.

all, JMO

The LE have handled the criticism just fine as far as they are concerned. Their oath is to uphold the law. Nobody has resigned. None of the various agencies have re-opened an investigation. AR and ME conclusions in both cases remain the same. If their constituents don't like it, they can always vote the leaders out of office.

MM, I went back and changed that to "IMO". I think you copied it before that. It is my opinion that when MZL said she did not want SDSO to be involved anymore, that they accommodated her request.

Hmmm....according to CuriousGeorgia and yourself LE doesn't take kindly to "negative comments"...hence their refusal to MZL requests.

Sounds like the two of you are insiders or know insiders.

You can use cell phones in TLC, I do.

JS did not call RZ on Tuesday.

RZ called JS 3x on Tuesday. However, all outgoing calls are listed as a 1M call. AT&T lists all calls that aren't answered as 1M. Why was JS not answering or returning RZ calls?

LE called RZ on Tuesday. Was that to set up Wed meeting to discuss MS accident? Did RZ have info that lead to her death on Tues night to prevent her from relaying something to LE?

Did the doctors contact CPS? If so when did that happen?

It seems LE had further questions they wanted to ask Rebecca. Maybe there was a reason they wanted to speak with her again even though she had already given them her initial statement.

IMO

I beg to differ regarding your statement that I bolded.

A family can do exactly what the Zahaus are doing in this case. They are fighting back as they should. They don't believe the LE findings and have done their own investigation. They have requested an independent and impartial investigation.

This family has done everything they should and their efforts and perseverance against the odds they face is remarkable. They not only bring honor to themselves they also honor their sister's memory by doing what they have done thus far.

They admit to the public that they do not accept the lies told about Rebecca and have not done anything scurrilous or underhanded in their quest for justice for their sister.

Many people support the opening of a new investigation here and would like to see some light shed on LE's investigatory technique in this case. I am personally interested in how LE from different parts of the country would judge how this investigation was handled.

The witness who found her body "contaminated" the scene because he tried to SAVE her.

The same witness who thought Rebecca may have been alive while she was hanging did not give conflicting information about when he cut her down to attempt resuscitation. You can hear him on the tape doing 911. Obviously, the report is incorrect.

Removing the hand bindings or ligatures around her neck would have taken additional time. His first thoughts were to give her breathes and chest compressions, which is medically correct.

The only witness did not have conflicting stories (link?). There is no "proof" as no one else was there. But he is on tape on the 911 call and you can hear everything he said and did. He was questioned, and he took a poly the same day without requesting a lawyer be present. Investigators felt he was being truthful and was never considered a suspect.

The witness climbed on table and then the leg broke. You can hear it on the tape. He probably had a key for the kitchen since he was a guest. Some things SDSO doesn't need to explain, its common sense, IMO. :banghead:

The witness immediately assumed Rebecca "hung" herself because thats the first thing anyone would think, and he had been with her the day before. He knew what she had acting like. Jonah, too, may have told Adam he was worried about her. I don't think anyone would see someone hanging and think, "Murder!". No one would murder someone that way. And in the stress of the moment, he may not have seen the bindings either.

The victim's boyfriend upon receiving his brother's text message that Rebecca "hung herself" immediately passed that meme onto his ex-wife. Why wouldn't that be the first person he called? Rebecca was the one that had been watching Max when he had his accident. I'm sure Dina and Jonah had discussed Rebecca and how she was reacting to what happened. Maybe Jonah needed a shoulder to sob on.

About two hours Jonah later called the victims relatives. We don't know what he was doing in those two hours. Very possibly, the police had come to the hospital to question his during that time.

Jonah told them that she killed herself before the police investigation began. Again, Jonah knew her better than anyone and would have have the most contact with her on that Tuesday. He knew the state of mind she was in.

Police did not do a psychological investigation because it would have been useless to do after the fact. The autopsy was through and they had subsequent hard evidence to support their later suicide determination.

In addition Jonah Shacknai alleged he left a disturbing message on Rebecca's voicemail which LE assumes led to suicide. There is no record of that voicemail anywhere because Rebecca Zahau deleted the message after she read it - you can't blame that on Jonah.

LE did not analyse the handwriting because it was not handwriting. It was painted on a vertical door. That would never match someone's handwriting. Le would have taken numerous photos and paint samples from the door. There was no need to keep it.

LE said the cause of the four hemorrhages to Rebecca's forehead as well as the cuts and abrasions to her face, fingers, forearms, thigh, lower legs and back came from the plants and wall when she went over the balcony. The blood from from her IUD.

I could go on an on but I think this may give you an idea as to why some think the Zahau's have turned this into a three ring circus to find someone to blame for their loved one's suicide. Nothing has been easy for them because they refused to even consider it could be a suicide from the very beginning. Mary said the day of Rebecca's death that she would NEVER believe it was suicide. They continue to struggle to obtain a trumped up, biased and one sided investigation to show it was murder, but that will not happen because it was not murder. Until they accept what really happened, they will never be at peace.

All of the above is my opinion only.

And that is the very reason we have over one year's worth of people like myself and hundreds or thousands more that want this case reopened. The investigation was anything but science and the bias shown against the Zahau's is unprecedented. I would support them fully in suing the $#@! out of the county. Hopefully they do.

I'd venture to say a certain , Hot Springs Village Police Chief Laroy Cornett would deem RZ's was handled just fine! Remember Dawna Natzke's murder in Ark.??? Hey maybe Gore and Cornett went to the same training academy???

Actually, the Zahaus were treated very well by SDSO. How often do you hear that an investigative team flies across the county to inform a family on the findings of an investigation? Never!

Some people may not understand "science". like DNA and fingerprints, but the "science" in this case proved she killed herself. The Zahaus want to blame everyone but Rebecca, IMO.

The case remains closed. I have no idea how many people support the opening of a new investigation but LE have made it very clear it is not going to happen unless there is valid, new evidence and here we are a year later....Investigations are very costly.

You seem to be implying RZ's suicide has brought dishonor to the family so they're going to fight it whether it is a valid conclusion or not. Perhaps that is what their culture believes but it is unfair to blame LE for Rebecca's death if she really did commit suicide. I believe the majority of taxpayers in the San Diego area don't dispute LE's findings in either death and will be outraged if either case is re-opened without a sound basis for doing so.
