I have to say I've seen this firsthand. My ex (personality-disordered as you all know) loved all the books and movies I did. He had the same values and beliefs. We had many of the same hobbies. It seemed he was perfect for me, we were kindred spirits.
Not. It was all an act - a manipulation, if you will. Psychopaths are nothing if not adaptable, predatory chameleons. They study their prey, strengths and weaknesses alike, and plot their attack accordingly. If their potential victim is religious, the psychopath's a bloody saint. If the potential victim likes dogs, they'll borrow, steal, or buy a dog and be the picture of pet-loving bliss. If the potential victim likes Dickens, the psychopath will start quoting from 'A Tale of Two Cities'...and one day, you may even discover the psychopath's just read the cliff notes version.
It's how they survive.
