Geffner says #jodiarias answered differently on testing because the questions were different and DeMarte didn't disclose that #3tvarias

Even following by tweets, I understood JM and DM were moving between tests and acknowledging that the language of the questions was technically slightly different but overall the same. IMO I don't think they were hiding their technique in comparing the defendant's answers.

Geffner said DeMarte bounced back and forth between two tests and wasn't clear to jury about that #jodiarias #3tvarias

Perhaps going back and forth was due to questions asked...and how would he know?? Took weeks to get super secret testimony that COA ordered released.

Jodi is leaning over looking at jurors.....we are at recess until 1:25pm MST #jodiarias #3tvarias

Why is this abhorrent disrespectful behavior allowed only in this courtroom and in this case?

Has anyone else ever seen it continue throughout a case and nothing is ever done about it by the presiding Judge?

Any other Judge would rebuke the witness right in front of the jury and tell him/her to stop with the snide comments and just answer the questions asked.

:seeya:

:loveyou: Thank You for the ^^^ ! You have followed many trials and your opinion is well respected !

Geffner says DeMarte is misstating the data and is unethical #jodiarias #3tvarias

was he not the one that was admonished in another trial

BUSTED! :busted:

I guess I am confused then. If no one can see or review the questions on these tests without a license in some sort of mental health, just how are the tests administered? Don't the test takers have to see or hear the questions to answer them?

I have yet to see a lawsuit or sanctions against the State of Arizona for having discussions about the testing from any of the testing companies. You have to have a license to interpret the test, IMI. That is why they call licensed experts to testify.

With psychologists out there like Geffner, I'm actually proud admitting I got my psych degree with a free decoder ring.

I think the overwhelming majority of us here have a firmer grasp on what's wrong with Jodi than any of her defense 'experts', either trial.

I received my Psychology degree from CWRU, Cleveland, OH...this guy is a consummate quack and needs to be reported, sanctioned etc. A complete and utter idiot.

If I was Juan I would have to tell Geff that he (Geff) has never cross examined psychologists and psychiatrists either about psychological tests. Geff is trying to make it appear this is the first case involving docs and mental evaluation test results when Juan has had them on direct and cross examined probably 100s of doctors about these type of tests by now in over 25 years as a prosecutor.

This is beyond pettiness. It is like Geff has touches of dementia and has gone back to being an unruly combative teenager who wants to nitpick everything that means nothing.

He's pizzzzed b/c Juan dared to question his 35 years of experience, and that "DeMarte person" dared to suggest he didn't administer tests correctly.

Noon recess. Back at 1:25. #JodiArias

And not a moment too soon. Can't even get angry anymore about these unusual people and their lies. They're just.......exhausting.

RBBM: So creepy that JA is really "stalking" the jurors

Dr. Geffner dissing objections from prosecutor: "Last time I looked, Mr. Martinez was not a psychologist." #jodiarias

And last time I heard, Geffner was not a prosecutor. Ooh, just wait till the PROSECTOR has his way with you, Mr. psychologist.

All three #jodiarias psych tests over 3 years show significant emotional and physical abuse and sexual issues, says Geffner.
---

Oh, she has sexual issues all right.

Two of the three years' testing featured JA's 2 fictional ninjas lie.

We all feel this way every time these non expert Dr.s get on the stand. We all know that JM will clear this up. We all have to just bear up in the between time and have faith. This is all for Justice for Travis. He went through far worse.

Does this jury know that initially the DT vehemently denied JA was Borderline? And that they went out of their way to try to show that Dr. DeM was wrong in her assessment of this? We know the first jury knew the scenario but is this jury also aware that the DT is now latching on to what they called hogwash for the first jury?
I don't believe they do know...but in reality, the defense hasn't actually presented borderline themselves at all. Only DeMarte has introduced borderline - which the defense seemed to lap up but then also sought to discredit her. I think it renders borderline a moot point.

IIRC, the closest Geffner came was mentioning other people thought Jodi was bipolar. They seem to be resting all their hopes on PTSD, abuse, pedophilia, *advertiser censored*, *advertiser censored*, and imaginary *advertiser censored* and throwing borderline in as an afterthought for a mitigator without presenting any evidence of their own to support it.

It is especially heinous for mental health experts/professionals imo.

I wish the mental health professional organizations would get involved. There should be some accounting.

Thanks for speaking up, because it makes the whole MH profession seems suspect imo. It is a very public display of how this can negatively affect the credibility of the real professionals.

What happened to do no harm, and ethics in medicine?

Yes, my response was meant to be specifically about psych/MH experts. Psychology by its very nature (especially before the recent advances of Neurological research as it pertains to human behavior/mental health disorders) has a built-in and inherently "slippery slope", if you will. So, I, as a professional in the field, believe there is a need to address issues related to "expert" testimony, "expert" opinions, test reliability and the uses thereof in the CJ system, as well as witness credibility and standards of practice as an "expert".

As a side note: Psychology as a field was literally in its infancy in the 70's--and for what it is worth the theories and tenets of DV at that time, while well intentioned, were nonetheless very narrow, largely anecdotal, gender specific, politically charged and influenced by the Women's Liberation Movement, and sociological in nature. And those who where educated/licensed at that time and specialized in DV were (and to a large degree still are) Sociology majors (and trust me when I tell you that a person who Majors in Psychology--far more empirical and systematic--receives a very, very different education than one that majors in Sociology), and it has been my experience that many of these "old guard" DV specialists, such as ALV, MFons, and to some degree Geffner, are very resistant to change and view things from a very narrow perspective that is woefully outdated/antiquated and inherently riddled with gender bias.
