Very short distance. Do the kids get to walk alone off the bus in groups or does a parent have to meet them? MOO
My state only mandates a kindergartener to be met by an adult at bus stops. Many districts nationwide have bus forms for parents to fill out for alternative drop offs at daycare or a babysitter's house. A child that age shouldn't be allowed to walk far to her afterschool destination. Secondary schools such as middle schools and high schools have the bus students walk further but not an elementary age child. JMO

I would like this information as well. Is there two actively involve parents? Any CPS investigations? Who got her off the bus? IMO, we typically get this information fairly quickly, but this seems a bit hush hush, or kept quiet on purpose.
Exactly. Also have there been any public appearances by mom or other family. Believe it was said they’re gathered at a church now but I’m wondering if any video out there yet. This is very very worrisome. I get a bad feeling. MOO

MOO regarding the timeline, excuse my scattered thoughts:

I just get the impression someone besides family was in charge of looking after her until her mom/(step)parent got home from work. I'm not sure if it was just mom or who else resides in the home with her (I'm also at work, following as closely as I can). But maybe the person (a teen? an older neighbor?) knew when to expect her. May have looked out to see her off the bus, maybe even waved at the bus driver who then drove off. Waited for her to come to the door, but didn't expect her right away if they thought she was playing in the yard. Probably tried to find her before alerting and panicking mom (we always think there's a rational explanation, no reason to worry mom, right?) and finally told mom either when she got home, or called her. 3:45 to 5 PM doesn't seem that terribly long to me, though it would be AGES if it were my child missing. I try to imagine if I were watching a child and they ran off (or I assumed they did) - I'd probably search for the child before panicking, finally calling mom (probably with incredible guilt) once I got panicked. Wouldn't take long, but in that area, checking with neighbors, etc...

I don't get home until 5:30. My husband gets home around 4:45. I just feel like mom probably called police as soon as she was made aware and was able to check with family.

Faye’s bus stop is 1 block plus a driveway. May or may not be with other kiddos. We don’t know yet.

Faye Marie Swetlik hadn't been seen since shortly before 3:45 p.m. Monday after family members saw her get off the bus in her densely populated neighborhood, Cayce Public Safety Officer Sgt. Evan Antley said.

“At some point, the family realized they had lost track of her," said Antley, adding that the family called 911 about 5 p.m.

Hundreds search for missing 6-year-old girl
First-grader Faye Swetlik was last seen at about 3:45 p.m., after she got off the school bus and was playing in front of her home in Cayce, just outside of Columbia, according to the Cayce Department of Public Safety.
So....family members(s) see her getting off the bus (2:55'ish?). And they see her playing in the yard (3:45'ish). But they lose track of her? When - in between her getting off the bus and playing in the yard? Or after seeing her playing in the yard? I hope LE has a more consistent storyline to follow because my head is spinning with discrepancies. JMO

Her mother met her at the bus stop and walked her home. She was last seen playing in the yard approx 3:45 p.m. and reported missing at 5:00 p.m. after family searched and couldn't find her. MOO

Neighbor said she saw Faye's mother meet her at the bus stop and walk her home.
She was met at the bus stop and escorted home by mom, but then allowed to play outside for a bit...then noticed as missing? I guess she didn't even go inside to change her clothes since she appears to be missing in what she was wearing when she got off the bus. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

This is giving me the same vibes as the 11 year old in Springfield, MA recently that was stalked in day(s) prior and kidnapped walking home from school. She was rescued after an amber alert was put out because a witness saw the car. She screamed. A 6 year old is much easier to over power.

I live 30 minutes from Cayce but on Fort Jackson. It would take 2 seconds to cover a child's mouth and put her in a car. The homes in SC in these kind of neighborhoods don't have big front yards.

Also, I know she is 6, and people play fast and loose with their kids, but unless the parents were intentionally negligent, it's not fair to be like WHERE WERE THEY!!! I always gave my 6 year old some room to breathe but we have always lived on military bases (they don't let you through the gate without a background check). If my child was outside and I couldn't find my child I'd go looking to all the places I knew they played or had friends. If that turned up fruitless I'd call the police. An hour is not that much time in retrospect. Now if the family waited until 7, then I'd be questioning.

I think she was snatched by someone who knew her routine from surveillance or it was a crime of opportunity. It's been 24 hours so this is not good. Remember the guy who took Jayme Closs saw her at her bus stop before he abducted her. This is not good IMHO.

Yikes. Perhaps she was lured by an adult or older teen that maybe she knew. Reminds of the Jenise Wright case in WA... JMO
