He should have killed himself!
WIS arrived at Timothy Jones' trailer on South Lake Drive in Lexington just as officials in Alabama confirmed the discovery of the bodies of five small children...
WIS learned the family living adjacent to the Jones trailer often babysat the five Jones children, and acted as a caretaker. Those neighbors were too upset to speak with us...
Neighbors report seeing police and crime scene vehicles coming into the area since Monday. The neighbors we spoke with were also questioned by police about Jones and his whereabouts.
Mississippi authorities said in a news release Tuesday night that 32-year-old Timothy Ray Jones Jr. was already in custody in Raleigh, Mississippi, after being detained Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence.
They said Jones' SUV was towed and, upon inspection of the vehicle, evidence of a crime was found. They said further investigation led them to the children's bodies.
Timothy Ray Jones, the father of the children, did not reveal a motive for the killings, which he confessed to authorities in Mississippi, Smith County Sheriff Charlie Crumpton said.
"I’m a father of two, and I can't imagine what goes through a man's head when he does this," Crumpton said. "It was a horrible, horrible crime."
Arrangements are being made to have the bodies of five children found in garbage bags off Highway 10 near Camden, Ala. returned to Lexington County, S.C. where autopsies will be completed.
Jones was arrested at a checkpoint by sheriff's deputies Saturday night because he appeared to be under the influence and a chemical odor was coming from his vehicle. Jones is believed to have been using meth and synthetic marijuana, also known as 'Spice.'
The children were not with Jones at the time of the stop, but an investigator was called to the scene after deputies noticed what appeared to be bleach, muriatic acid, blood and body fluids inside the man's Cadillac Escalade.
