It waa right there whatever that SR is. It was by the BP blocking the road.

I googled and apparently that is tidewater rd.

Phil Gray rd, State rd s-26-1018 and Tidewater are all the same road. I posted a map a ways back, but here it is again if anyone is interested. (see below)

Ok so the Police Mobile Command unit RV and the unmarked SUV blocking the road were located on Tidewater Rd. I'm wondering if they found even more remains?
This is at the area they are searching today. http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/2014/01/03/3937930/search-for-heather-elvis.html

Lots of pictures at this site.

Way to random! I restate my opinion that I am surprised that LE hasn't secured both and surroundings areas and conducted a thorough, professional search
See above^^

First off I do not work for am or I associated at all with HCPD. Nor am I anywhere near MB for my primary residence. All my information and concussions have been solely based upon what I have found publicly through the media and SM and Google.

My first answer would be for long range of time. Why were these remains not found years ago or when they searched for Britanee:

We or at least I do not know the terrain or amount of brush in the area where the remains were found. Or what that area was like years ago. Plus we are in winter so there is no growth of the vegetation. This allows items to get exposed. According to the reports it appeared the remains had been there awhile. And as weird or disgusting as it may sound animals love to eat what food they can find or bones. And remains can get scattered.

Again the catch 22 theory ???

If there were local residence or hunters that knew this area well and knew of different locations and experience with the terrain then that may explain why LE didn't find the remains. And its possible that at the beginning of their investigation they were searching for a missing person hoping she is still alive and not a recovery for remains. I don't know and cannot answer that.

Being in LE nothing is rare and not one case is ever the same as another case. Everything is a learning experience and every single case there is always a challenge or challenges.

Also think about this, Why weren't these remains found years ago from regular people or hunters in the area ? Who knows.
JMO, but since this appears to be a business area, probably not much hunting going on. The SE side of Tidewater is hilly and dense trees, with dirt roads/tracks cut into the tree at straight lines. The NW side (where it appears the remains were found) has trees with cut roads/tracks, open space and businesses before getting to McNair (near where the additional remains were found). Railroad tracks go through both areas at the far right side of my screen shot. My guess is that a) you can't search everywhere, and this was a ways away from where Britanee went missing and b) the remains were not out in the open until recently.

I'm new to this forum but live in a neighboring county and have followed the Drexel and Elvis cases closely. I am in the area at least once a week and was there on New Year's Day and noticed the billboards and signs everywhere.

I work in law enforcement and the absence of the occasional press release is baffling. Even if there is nothing new to report, it shows a commitment to the case and could help in easing the minds of the public.

I also wanted to mention that I'm 99% certain that based on the twitter picture in an earlier post, her phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3. Find my phone is not activated out of the box on droids, but can be activated remotely through the google account the phone is registered to.

My thoughts and prayers are with HE's friends and family and all of those out there searching for her. I can't imagine a greater nightmare than not knowing where my child is.

I agree that the lack of a press release is baffling. I can say that living in the area, I have been uneasy. I would think with this much attention on the case they would say something. They don't even have to release details of the case but either a "we don't feel there's any threat to the community" or a "stay vigilant and aware" would let me at least know what KIND of person they think they're dealing with. I really want to know if my community is still safe. I respect LE and understand they have difficult jobs but at the same time, they work for me and my community and should at least address us.

FoxFire

Isn't this what happened in Long Island. The LE was looking for a missing person Shannon Gilbert I do believe and they came across all them human remains. The potential outcome of this was they did find Shannon Gilbert but they ruled she drowned by accident.

B to the big fat S. Me thinks their chitter over fillith.

THANK YOU! Welcome to Websleuths!

Those searchers are being extremely thorough. And that is quite rugged terrain for something that's so close to businesses and housing.

There is a Captain in the USAF that went missing around the same date as HE, I wonder if LE has looked into the possibility that the two could be connected. He was stationed at Shaw AFB in Sumter SC and there has been little media coverage of his disappearance as well.

Look at thread 2 page 38. Nicksmom posted some interesting information.

Shaw Air Force Base officials search for missing captain

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, SC (WIS) -
U.S. Air Force officials are working with local authorities to locate Capt. Robby Williams who was last seen Dec. 18 in the Columbia area.

Williams did not report to work on Dec. 23 at Shaw Air Force Base and is believed to be driving his 2013 Black Jeep Wrangler with SC license plate ITC701, according to a media release.

He resides in the greater Columbia metro-area, the release states.

"We're all trying to find Robby now," said Brig. Gen. Scott Dennis, the U.S. Air Forces Central Command Assistant Commanding Deputy. "Robby is a member of our team and a part of the Air Force family. We'd like the community's help in reporting any tips they may have to the local authorities."

Air Force officials describe Williams as black, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair and he is in his late 20s.

He has been stationed at Shaw AFB since Nov. 2012.

From what I have seen, press releases or conferences are becoming fewer and more far between in lots of cases. The ones where LE usually keeps up briefings is with kids under ten or so. They don't stick to the cases with young adults long, especially with no obvious crime scene. JMO

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for pointing me to a previous thread where RW was mentioned. There was so much info here that I didn't go through all of it.

That article out of Charlotte is pretty interesting to me because it states local authorities do not suspect foul play. It also mentions the type of vehicle he was driving would love to know if a similar vehicle shows up anywhere in the surveillance videos LE has reviewed in their search for HE.

Is there a thread for Captain Robby Williams here on Websleuths?
I searched but did not find one.

Guess you may be on to something, cluciano63.. 'None, is fewer than one'?
Cluciano63, imo the lack of press conferences and investigation updates indicates the lack of an effective media management strategy which is critical in high profile missing persons cases...

So true! Also, do you think there is a regional aspect to this - cases in the South seen to get fewer if any, or is it simply the cases I follow....

I think it's critical in ANY missing person case.

LE needs to do a news update to the public, this has gone on too long with NO official news. People are searching, folks are donating funds to the family, items are being donated for distribution and fundraisers are being planned...LE needs to update the community!!
