I thought the closing was well done. A very complex case, it took time to wrap it all up. The financial aspects were important to highlight; so much of AM's downfall was related to money, money, money.

I really do wish the prosecution would have delved into the drug addiction. At least have had an addiction specialist, a real doctor, testify. I believe that they must have had a good reason to not go down that road, but I don't think it's necessarily because they believed Alex's claims. I think there is a lot more tied up in drugs, and money, trafficking, all sorts of shady stuff, behind this case, and this is about justice for Maggie and Paul.

Also, someone else noted DH's appearance. I think he's deteriorated in an alarming manner in the past couple weeks. Like if his doctor happens to catch a glimpse of him on the tube the doctor is going to be on the phone to him ASAP. He looks terribly unhealthy. Also looks like a long-time drinker.

All MOO

Where did he leave room for any doubt?

He didn't, really - but the defense will do that tomorrow. The openings will be: that there were two gunmen; that Alex was incapacitated; that Alex did not form intent (required for First Degree, IIRC). That valuable evidence that could have exonerated Alec was not collected by SLED. And so on, and so forth.

All it takes is one juror thinking, "He could not have INTENDED to kill them" (meaning he had no consciousness or will about killing them, it just kind of happened." "He was upset and so he killed them without meaning to."

Now, I think that's rather a silly way to think, as I think most of human behavior is intentional in some manner, and these murders absolutely were not only intended (if only one shot fired, maybe that could be accidental) but this was also planned. And for reasons. It was reasonably planned and intended.

What's the worst case scenario is one un-persuadable juror who refuses to engage in stating exactly why they see it differently from all the others. At least, that's an awful situation for the jury itself, and for the judge.

IMO

@CityKid can you tell me what you are referring to here?

“How did someone not check the property before the jury was brought there??? This is outrageous”
The women's bicycle (Maggie's, I assume) and what looks like a middle-school ceramic Christmas project of a pot that said "Buster" on it were both in front of the house; they weren't present in the sales photo for the estate. Someone had to put them there on purpose. The bicycle didn't show 18 months of outdoor weathering, and the pot was for Christmas. This was deliberate.

Waters day of a thousand knifes was working, each cut exposing the demon hiding in the man.
I agree. those who think it was a weak or lacking in the dazzle, I disagree. jurors are the tryers of this case. the state and defense closing and opening are not evidence. its a roadmap, beginning and ending of what they feel were important in this case..which will be weighed by the jurors. he pointed out salient facts without theatrics or beating a dead chicken. who else with MMO... so many farm animals....

Does anyone know who this gentleman with the red tie is who was seated behind the prosecution table for at least the past few days? It’s been driving me nuts as I swear he used to be some sort of political correspondent or White House reporter or even a politician himself.

If they can prove that someone staged the bike, the flower pot and the stuffed chicken toy in Bubba's kennel, I think there's going to be big trouble (criminal charges) coming.
There are brokers' listing photos available online... don't know about the toy chicken, but the flowerpot and bike are not there.

The pictures of the crime scene really give a sense of how close Maggie and Paul's bodies were found. If there were two shooters there would have been a risk that the shooters would have shot each other. JMO.

Looks like he has a SLED pin on.

@worm how are you feeling about this case coming to a close? I remember you are the one that opened the first thread so long ago. I can’t believe it’s almost over. I’ve been watching since day 1. What a crazy roller coaster it’s been.

I see quite a bit of jaw clenching, lip pursing, half grimaces, and finger fidgeting from AM at the moment.... it must be difficult for him to sit through the final moments of the prosecution slicing and dicing the defense case he put his all into... JMO
Did you notice when PM is mentioned AM rubs his eyes hard and his nose to make it red. He has not one real tear for his wife and son.
