I love skeletons. The structure, the ability to endure. They really are things of beauty, no? My father was a surgeon and family doc, and when we were little he (or my mother) got us a human skull model. My father rigged the lower mandible with rubber bands so that we could make his teeth chatter.

His name was OSS. :floorlaugh:

Marking my spot.

I agree with Bernina about a front tine tiller. We had a front tine tiller (and still do as back up and it's old old old) and it just wore dh out fighting it, so he bought a Craftsman rear tine from Sears and I can use it. It's over thirty years old now, it's taken a lickin and it's still a tickin. You get to set the depth instead of fighting it raising and lowering the tines, and turning corners are a lot easier, and all you have to do it walk behind it. The handle also can be moved into different left right up or down positions so you can get in corners and things. Bernina is right about old vs new. Duct tape? Dh uses a bungee cord to hold the bar down on our lawnmower, I see Bernina grandfather using baling wire or a coat hanger.

In North Texas we have soil that we call black gumbo. If wet it builds up on your shoes and weighs you down. Your shoes start to "grow" by the build up and it's like Frankenstein shoes and they weigh a ton. It needs a whole lot of compost and topsoil added when you start gardens and flower beds.

To the east and west and south of us the soil is more red and sandy Lots of iron. Have you tried growing carrots , cabbage, broccoli or eggplant, maybe a strawberry bed? Cabbage never grows for me so we get them from the store and make chow chow and relishes. My oldest sister is our jelly maker. She uses frozen grape juice to make grape jelly, and we have peach trees and it seems we peel peaches all summer and put up peach jelly. If we run out of strawberry jelly in the winter she uses the frozen ones in the freezer section of the store. She also puts up peppers and pickles and makes sweet and hot pickles and bread and butter. Do you plant your cukes that you pickle, by your garden fence? We do and they grow up it and takes up less space and they're easier to pick. We tried peas and green beans, but they're only for cooking fresh. Never enough to can if you fixing dinner for ten or more people.

Saw my first hummingbird today and quickly put out their feeders. :)

Hey everyone. Super tired but wanted to say hi to you.

I have not seen the hummingbirds yet, but I guess it is time for the feeders. We usually put them out around Mother's Day. Thanks for the reminder!

Soooo tired tonight. Early to bed ...... but will I fall asleep? That is the question. So much on my mind. chatter, chatter, chatter. Where is the OFF button?

If you find the off button Spellbound, please let me know. My mind is in overdrive and my body feels 200 years old. Sweet dreams to you.

Will definitely share, Kensie! :countsheep:

Today is May 7, and we have storms moving in from the west. We could have hail and storm winds. Oklahoma is again in the bulls eye. Spellbound would love to be sitting on my front porch.
