Okay, so let's all collectivey think positive thoughts...."Die Susan, Die." But do it where you belong - in prison.

Is it too out there to think that this (justified) brouhaha over the Lockerbie bomber might affect her chances negatively? There's quite a bit of controversy over his diagnosis and life expectancy. I can't imagine the climate is favorable to let out another high-profile murderer, terrorist or no. In her own way, I guess, SA was a terrorist.

I doubt they'll release her. I think the last one was her great chance. They've already made the decision not to allow her compassionate release and I would think that was a hard decision to make, politically. Refusing a second time won't be nearly as scrutinized. I think the lack of media coverage is good.

Her pleas need to fall on deaf ears just as her victims pleas fell on hers.
I am outraged she actually has the gall to ask . We remember what she did
No attention to this is fine as long as they dont allow release.
She is there by the choice of her own actions

Sharon Tates mother used to go to EVERY parole hearing to plea that the murderers of her daughter stay locked up forever!
In 1992, President George H. W. Bush recognized Doris Tate as one of his "thousand points of light" for her volunteer work on behalf of victims' rights. By this time Tate had been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and her health and strength were failing; her meeting with Bush marked her final public appearance. When she died later that year, her youngest daughter Patti continued her work.

Doris Tate lived only one year after being diagnosed with brain cancer. The same cancer that Susan Atkins has been diagnosed with. Doris died where she was meant to die..recognized as "a thousand points of light"..

Let Susan die in prison in her darkness for her evil deeds.

It was being discussed on local talk radio, simply because Chowchilla is so close.

Personally I'm not that persuaded by the argument she is not danger to society now and could be paroled.

Hey ziggy,

I am trying to understand how you think Atkins is a danger to society. I do get the feelings some have that she should serve out her term in jail, but I am hard-pressed to see this aged, terminally-ill woman who is missing a limb as any viable threat to the rest of us. What am I missing in your thought process?

fondly,

SCM

Oh, that was a badly written statement on my part.

I don't think she's a danger, I just don't think that argument should stand to let her out. In other words, who cares? If I were on the parole board it would not persuade me. She was merciless to Sharon Tate and her unborn baby and we owe her no mercy.

Let her die in prison where she belongs to pay for the innocent lives she has taken.

Okay - now I follow. Thanks!

Who cares what she wants... Sharon wanted to have her baby!!!!!!!!!!!:furious::furious::furious::furious:

The more lenient attitude of the 70's allowed those murderers to live. Susan was originally sentenced to death.

Those same lenient attitudes left us with scum like Garrido and Richard Allen Davis, which in turn, create harsher sentences. CA now sentences murderers to death.

I think it's just a technicality that she wasn't executed - so to me that means life without the possibility of parole as it is now.

There is no reason to release Susan just so that she can die in peace surrounded by loved ones. If we place economical benefits above what is morally right, then we have no morality.

I don't care that it costs more. I care that the punishement fits the crime. I care that reasonable people in this state believe in the death penalty and in life without parole and if anyone deserves one or the other, it is Susan. She doesn not deserve to ever be released until they cart her out as a corpse.

She was sentenced to life in prison and that is where her life needs to end. Of all the Manson murderers, she was the one who thought it was a funny little game. :furious:

She is not in a regular hospital.. From what I have read, she is in the prison hospital, which from what I understand, is an excellent one.

This is from the website her lawyer-hubby maintains:
She is currently in a Skilled Nursing Facility within the California Department of Corrections where she is happy, comfortable, content, and prayed up, and where she continues to receive incredibly good care at the hands of dedicated and compassionate doctors, nurses and aides. Her affliction causes her no pain.
So considering what her husband wrote - I for one don't feel the least bit bad that her parole was denied!!:twocents:

Just wanted to add-Susan is getting a very compassionate release!! More compassion than any shown back in 1969!! If you look at her website-prison was a blessing to her!!
