The Blue Barrel in the Bedroom? #3

But too, it probably depends on the temperatures. A bathtub is usually not warm when it is empty and her body may have cooled faster being in the tub. That and the air temp. in the house, may have slowed decomposition.

I am sorry, don't mean to be insensative, but facts is facts. There are a lot of factors to be considered.

I thought of that too. So the question should be does Steve recall anything in regards to an odor in the home or did anything stand out about the temperature of the home.

My H has had to do many a well-check on persons who turn out to be dead. By the third day, they really reek and neighbors start to call PD.
In spite of my insistance that he must be mistaken, he says 30 hours wouldn't have a very strong smell.
Being that I have not experienced this and he has, I guess he must know what he is talking about.

About the rectangular container...

I just saw a short interview with DrewP on Geraldo. The reporter asked him about the childern, he was all calm and non-chalant, mr. cool.
Then she asked about celebrating the holidays without Stacy, he says it's different, she asks specificly about putting up the christmas tree without Stacy and DrewP abruptly backs away, ending the interview, mutters something about getting emotional and he's done. he couldn't get out of there fast enough. Looked spooked to me.

Sooo hmmm...wonder what they stored their Christmas tree in when they put it away last year? Could it have been a large blue container?

Another thing that didn't make sense to me was when Steve said he didn't see any blood in Kathleen's hair it was just WET.

That sounds like the same interview I saw last night on Geraldo. He was talking about the Christmas tree and I noticed that too about him suddenly having to end the interview. I hadn't thought about storing a Christmas tree in one of those barrels, but maybe you're onto something there. If only we could confirm that he really did have pool supplies delivered then we'd know how long he'd had the barrel.

I agree with him and think it all depends on the surroundings & temperature.

The temperature of the house would have to be taken into cosideration. Did she still have the heat on or had the days grown warm by then? I heard someone say the house was near 30 degrees which I find ridiculous. This would have raised huge red flags in the initial investigation.

If she sat in a tub of cold water as it slowly drained out then perhaps this could be a factor. However, wouldn't her body be as pruned as her hand in that respect? There is no way the hair could have been wet when she was found if it had been longer than a couple of hours, imo. (When was the last time you let your hair air dry? Did it take days? NO!)

I saw that interview and DP was very abrupt at the mention of putting up the Christmas tree. If the Peterson's had an artificial tree and it's stored in two sections, it could easily be in a large rectangular container.

I'm trying to think of the commentator who had an interview with DP and he took her on a tour of the house. She mentioned that when they went down in the basement she saw a lid to a rectangular container. There was some discussion here about that interview and the lid. One of the things suggested is that there might have been two rectangular boxes and that for the purposes of a transporting a body, DP may have doubled the two boxes, putting one inside the other for strength. In this case, he would only need one lid, so the other lid would be left behind. Maybe that's the lid the interviewer saw?

Another thing that didn't make sense to me was when Steve said he didn't see any blood in Kathleen's hair it was just WET.

Somebody here on WS (I don't remember who) pointed somthing out. Kathleen's hair was dark. So if it was bloody, then with just a quick look Steve may have mistaken it for being wet. I think that makes a lot of sense.

What if Drew did the same thing to Stacey, a woman biochemist did in 2003 in CA? She put her husband in a "blue barrel" filled it with acid and sealed the barrel. Medical experts that testified in her trial speculated that the husband, Timothy Schuster, may have been alive.

The biochemist is on trial now with the jury deliberating again on Monday.

I am only bringing this up because the mention of chemicals ALONG with a blue barrel right now definitely got my attention since I just read about the case in CA.

We took 3 horses to an auction to sell the other night. They sell tack (bridles, saddles, halters, leads, some do-dads) before the horses. Sometimes these are dealers with piles of merchandise that go to all the sales. I noticed one dealer and his huge blue RubberMade type rectangular tubs with matching lids. They were bigger than the large ones I have. As I sat there, I imagined a body my size (5'1" 105 pounds) fitting in one. I know I could fit. It just had me thinking the whole time I sat and stared at the tubs. BTW, I did buy two bosals, a cinch for my saddle and a training bit.

I wonder how many of us stand around looking at containers wondering if someone could fit in them. I know I did that in a hardware store while Laci Peterson's case was ongoing. And I have a few blue rubbermaid containers here that I keep looking at suspiciously.

Good thing people really can't read our minds.

Did you do well at the auction?

Taximom, I didn't have any that large, nor had I seen one that big at our local discount store, so it drew my attention right away.

Yep, I did good. $10 for a $20 girth. Paid $30 for the bit, and the $10 each I spent on the bosals were a real bargain. They go in the stores for at least $25. Didn't do all that well selling the horses, but at least I have three colts that I don't have to buy hay for this winter. We weren't going to use them later, so anything we got would be better than extra bales of hay.

The mysterious blue container at the center of the Drew Peterson investigation may be one of three that the former police sergeant and a close friend bought from a cable installation company four years ago, ABC News has learned.

Mims gave the GJ pictures of the containers. A blue rectangluar container. Pictures of the container at the link.

I just read about her today and she was convicted of 1st degree murder yesterday! I though of something similar that DP could've done when we were discussing the pool chemicals. They would have a similar effect on the body.

--->>>From your link in the quote above:

"Rick Mims, Peterson's long-time friend, told a grand jury last week that he and Peterson bought three such containers for about $100 from AmeriCable, where they both worked part-time in 2003, according to a source close to the investigation. Peterson put two of the containers on a shelf in his garage, but after Stacy vanished, so did the containers, Mims testified."

Wondering IF IF it was a total of three that were purchased or IF IF each man bought 3 apiece. Link further states that two of the above containers had been on a shelf in the Peterson garage, but gone now.

Doesn't look big enough for a body though to me anyway, huh, er?

No it doesn't look big enough but if there were a few of them missing it made me think she was not just in one container (if that's what was used). :(

LOL, I thought that but wasn't going to be the one to say it.

Personally, I wonder if the "barrell" and the 2 rectangluar containers aren't all true. Part of the diversonary tactics that DrewP used in hiding the body. That way if he is seen dumping a blue barrell or container at several places, more potential witnesses will be thought of as 'mistaken'. For instance if a witness said he dumped a blue container on the north side and another witness said the south side, how would police look at those witnesses?

The only way I can see using those containers would have been if a body was dismembered like what was mentioned. If they were used in any way they could have used as weights however, especially if filled with heavy objects, sand, or other.

Good point. They could even be tied onto a barrel and be used to keep the barrel from floating while the body inside was decomposing and letting off gases.
