I understand what your saying. But its not the common thread.
The common thread amongst all these girls was not cocaine.
It was lack of education and poverty.
I don't think Amber, Maureen, Megan, Melissa or Shannan had a High School Diploma;
I think all of them had G.E.D's.
Poverty is a very harsh reality in the world of prostitution - some of the girls had children and no husband (or baby daddy) around.
It was left to the mom's to handle all the responsibilities of raising those kids. These girls had kids when they themselves
were kids.
It's a harsh reality, but poverty is an ugly ugly reality in the United States, and when you are poor and hungry and starving
you will make decisions that lead you down a dark dangerous path that you would NEVER EVER EVER do otherwise.
No one wants to be pimped out by pimps. Being beaten on a nightly basis to make the quota of the pimp. Having your birth
name changed to a derogatory name. Catching diseases from clients. Not having health care. Taking a risk with every client that
he could beat you up because he's sick. It's a very dangerous way to make your month's rent.
Sooner or later you start taking drugs to numb the pain of the reality of the hell you're in.
These little girls lost their lives because they were so innocent and naive and thought nothing bad could ever happen to them.
