Gary Simpson, 58, said he did not know why he was being charged with kidnapping (CT) when the girlfriend of Ts father occasionally does the same thing.

The sound on the video I posted upstream is not the best. GS is hard to hear.

I don't think the dad's girlfriend hid out in a camper for several days with either of the girl's, while the nation searched for them. This can't be this guys defense.

I heard what sounded like "I don't understand the kidnapping thing because her dads girlfriend did the same thing to ____." The judge immediately reminded him of his right to remain silent. IMO, he may have been simply speaking of picking her up at school. He sounded very unstable to me. Like he might be trying to justify his behavior.

Custodial Interference simply means he kept her from her parents. I think we expected this charge. It has nothing to do with a "custody situation". This man kidnapped a 9 year old and is a criminal!

at the 1:15 mark on the youtube video I hear Simpson say:

which makes absolutely no sense to me but that is what I hear him saying.

pretty sure CT has never been subject to an amber alert in the past or reported abducted previously or removed from school under false pretenses and removed to the wilderness for 8 days.
