Just saw this on my local news site. Gotta love the "Oh snap, crazy criminal in Texas" headline....
You'll forgive me if I LOL! This release has got nearly everything ever written at some random time during this whole thing. With enough disclaimers to satisfy an attorney. "Could be", "wasn't clear", "not immediately aware", "Trying to determine", "wasn't sure". Yep, they covered just about everything here, without really giving you any information except "You see these guys, you report it!"

definitely a odd case.. that i hope has a resolution soon... but i highly doubt we'd find anything else on them if FBI,TBI, etc are on it and still aren't sure where theyare... looks to like he was interested in the kids by being on facebook to keep up with their daily lives but not post much himself.... now he's got them and wants to get gone with them... and maybe is in love witht eh mom enough that he wanted this family and took them... dunno sorry about the randomness.. my ambien is slowly kicking in now...

Jumping in with a few thoughts/observations.

News stories confusing, what else is new? But I get the distinct feeling that because Jo Ann is no longer (apparently) being looked for by FBI, that she is accounted for. If found alive, you'd think maybe media would have picked up on it by now.

If not alive, then authorities would have to believe she is deceased, which tends to point at one of the 2 bodies found near Guntown, MS.

If the other is not one of the girls, and they still have active warrant out for kidnapping, IMHO, the other body is not his.

Forgive the leap, but this guy has lived or has legal connections to Jackson and Whiteville in TN. Neither one all that far from Parsons.

6-3 and 175lbs.

Anybody find a clue to what this guy did for a living?

snipped and BBM:
Alpine Fire Chief Lewis Grimes says Mayes had just recently moved to town about a year ago and most people didn’t know much about him or his family.

http://wreg.com/2012/05/05/who-is-suspected-kidnapper-adam-mayes-his-neighbors-paint-a-picture/

Now officially off that theory for possible connection.

Until the 2 bodies are identified, still far more questions than answers.

Praying for a happy and swift resolution to this, but things surely do not sound good.

ETA: also from WREG, BBM

The FBI is not saying whether or not those bodies belong to the missing Hardeman County family, only that they’ve sent them to the medical examiner’s office to be identified.
“It was based on finding those two bodies that initiated the amber alert with concern of extreme danger to the children,” said Siskovic.

http://wreg.com/2012/05/05/two-bodies-found-in-the-search-for-missing-hardeman-county-family/

"and most people didn’t know much about him or his family."
So he had a family? Or is this another mistake by reporters? If he had a family, where are they now?

I just thought of something. Could the reporters have assumed, based on the mother's removal from the Amber Alert, that she was now a suspect? That would explain the faux pas regarding that.

The Amber Alert now states that "Arrest warrants have been issued for Adam Mayes for the kidnapping of Jo Ann Bain and her three children." If she was kidnapped, she wouldn't be a suspect, I shouldn't think.

Edited to add, they just changed the wording in the Amber Alert again. I don't think they are looking for the mom anymore.

Sadly I think Mom isn't on the Amber Alert because she's deceased. IMO.

The question is if the bodies were found in Guntown why is Union county investigating and not Lee County? Guntown is in Lee County. Yet all msm is saying Union county. So I would guess the bodies were not found in Guntown. This is all just my moo.

I read somewhere, but don't have link, his house, although stated Guntown is actually on Rte 9. Does that explain why Union Co is investigating? I saw on the map that Rte 9 is west of Guntown. ???

OH NO. :(

I'm guessing that the bodies are Jo Ann and the oldest girl. Unless their bodies are somewhere else, then these are AM and Jo Ann. I suppose there's a slight chance that Jo Ann escaped with 2 of the girls.

WTF is wrong with people like him?

:sigh:

Didn't realize that AM had a home in Guntown, MS...thought he resided somewhere near the Bains in TN.

They did live right next to each other at one time, but I don't know how long ago. I posted a map a few pages back.

Another interesting link. More or less clears up where the bodies were found. I'm going with in/near Alpine where WREG interviewed neighbors. And it's on Hwy 9. And presumably in Union County??

Last updated 11pm local. Wonder how much of the original story remains? Now they have all 5 of them headed off to one of several potential states where he has friends.

I'm also wondering if this place in Alpine he owned(?) was rented out while he was in TN? If so, are those renters accounted for?

More and more questions.

And this...one of the girls had said she planned to get her hair dyed red this weekend.

How does this story clear up where the bodies were found? Previous stories said the Lee County coroner said the bodies were found in Union County, just outside of Guntown. This story says not Lee county (same difference). Was there something about route 9 in this story I am missing? TIA.

From the TBI website:

There is no mention of JoAnn in the case facts.

I'm thinking that the only question is who the other body is. I hope so much I'm wrong.

But no matter what, two people are dead and their family or families will be grieving. So sad, so sad...

Byline and video from Alpine, MS. Also, one of the media (also WREG?) had video in which they talked about the residence being NW of Guntown on Hwy 9.

Alpine is on Hwy 9, NW of Guntown, and media was there with cameras in neighbors' faces.

http://wreg.com/2012/05/05/who-is-suspected-kidnapper-adam-mayes-his-neighbors-paint-a-picture/

found the specific 9 reference, which has now been expanded on. Sorry, thought I had posted this link already

All the FBI would tell News Channel 3 is the house is located near Guntown, MS. However the house is believed to be on Highway 9 near Alpine, MS. U.S. Marshals were there investigating Saturday afternoon.

You know, I think you did. I was under some mad impression that you were relying on the last set of links you posted, which didn't add any information from the rest of the links I have read, which left me going "Huh. What did I miss there?" Thanks!

The fact that they issued the Amber Alert AFTER finding the bodies makes me think that he killed his own family members or something like that.
Which makes them think that these girls are in danger.
Maybe their mother was killed... but I'm questioning that and I'm really doubting it was any of the girls.

I initially thought the Mom and the 14 year old were the bodies... however... Why remove Mom from the alert but not the daughter?

I think that they would be able to determine which one of the girls a body was...
Even the two oldest are 4 inches and 25 pounds different and have different color eyes.

If they removed Mom from the Alert because they found her body, why not remove the child who's body they found as well?
Mom and the oldest daughter are only one inch and a few pounds apart. Same hair and eye color.
They would be the most difficult bodies to tell apart.

It really doesn't make much sense for it to be one of the daughter's. But then again... LE does not always make sense in the way they do things.

Jo Ann Bain, a white female with brown hair and brown eyes. She's 5′ 3″ tall and weighs 130 lbs.
Adrienne a white girl with brown hair and eyes. She's 5 feet 4 inches tall and 129 pounds.

Alexandria has brown hair and hazel eyes and is 5 feet tall and 105 pounds.
Kyliyah has blonde hair and brown eyes and is 4 feet tall and 57 pounds

*shudder*

He makes my skin crawl.

Don't normally think it polite to comment on someone's looks, but really! ITA--makes my skin crawl too. Only thing I can think is maybe he looked better than 60 yr old husband....?? Sorry, just keepin it real folks. (:

JMO, but from my quick lookup of Marfan Syndrome (Mayo Clinic site)

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/marfan-syndrome/DS00540

(I looked at Symptoms and Complications)

I don't see anything relevant to this case. Seems to only be medical symptoms and not mental handicap or psychiatric issues.

Just saw Hope32's post...perhaps a learning disability could play a factor in illegal behaviors? IDK. And, the physical features could assist in recognition by the public...agreed.

I agree, him having Marfan Syndrome (or not) was just an interesting aside, I wasn't trying to cast aspersions on folks with this syndrome. Kind of like noting someone had dwarfism, or such... just a description of their appearance, not their character.

I'm glad that link could confirm. I read it off a local blog either in Guntown or Whiteville about Rte 9.

It's 11 miles from Guntown, here's a map: http://g.co/maps/dy2fe

I looked up his immediate family members...with none located in MS...that I could find. Most in Jackson, TN, including his sister or sister-in- law that Gary is friends with on FB, but his mother is in NC.

Found this case on cnn.com. Knew the good people here would be on it. The reporting on this is one of strangest I've ever seen. Then again, it's TN. The bodies need to be identified NOW so that the public knows who to look for. At this point I think the best we can hope for is a murder/suicide between AM and mom though not appearing this is the case.

What IS the case, and why are details not being made public? The TBI doesn't have the best record in solving cases due to this very issue. All "quiet" in TN.

Extremely convoluted. And just really strange reporting, or lack thereof. If mom is 31 and husband is 60..eldest daughter is 12. Given 9 months it seems that something was illegal about this relationship from the beginning. Though husband is not a suspect. Just really weird circumstances all the way around.

Alas, since FBI says they searched residences (plural), it is possible that the one in/near Alpine where the media saw U.S. Marshals and came in cameras blazing to interview locals about him, may not have been the actual one where the bodies were found. But seems like a good chance it was.

Still real curious what this guy did for a living, and if he had any connections to, or grand knowledge of, Parsons, TN.

Excellent article showing pics of mother and daughters. Also states that LE are still looking for all of them despite bodies being found at residence of AM.

"MHP says the five may be headed to Arizona or other parts of Mississippi. According to law enforcement, Mayes has connections in Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation at (601) 987-1353 or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at (800) TBI-FIND.

Also, the FBI and the United States Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the discovery of the missing family members and the arrest of Mayes."
