Guyman, Ok - something like that.

So from OK city they drove approx 4 hours and spent the night again in Guyman.

Then traveled approx 8-9 hrs on to Cortez.

He wasn't in a hurry to get anywhere it seems.

I wonder if they'll have him on suicide watch?
I wouldn't be surprised (with his kind, gentle soul and all) if he can't handle being detained until trial. I've no doubt he figured he'd be let out in the interim because of all of his 'good deeds, pillar of the community' mumbo jumbo.
I wouldn't be surprised if he attempts a sheet trick.
Like his namesake, Ariel Castro???

A poster suggested early on that Walmart should post the AA in all of their stores and/or alert their employees. I'm not sure if that would have helped, but we're up to 4 known Walmarts, now, and at one more possible in CA.

Subtract the price of the tablet and the price of the kayak from the trip budget, and I am beginning to understand why he was down to his last $3.

Missed his family.... RIIIIIGHT. He was broke and desperate and wanted his mommy. IMHO.

:cow:

What a weak request... mom and dad were not even there to support him in public. :rolling: <<--- new smilie that someone used upthread... I llike it!

:rolling:

:rolling:

I do feel for his parents..

They spent one night in Mississippi, 4 nights in Oklahoma and 1 night in Cortez?

I believe when he got the iPad and saw he was wanted, thats when the real planning when into place. Changed names after Cortez and had a new plan for Mexico.

His father was there...

"At the two-hour hearing on Friday, Cummins, dressed in striped prison garb, remained silent until after the judge's ruling, but turned to mouth "I love you" to his two daughters, father and sisters as deputies escorted him out the door. "

It is very apparent that this man had one thing on his mind. If I was on the run, I would drive at least 12 - 14 hours a day just to get as far away as possible, unless i had something else on my mind.

I drove to Portland, OR from NJ in 3 days, and I was only going for a visit.

When you deduct $1,500 for the kayak, and about $300 for an iPad... It's no wonder they were eating flowers... Or was it just her eating flowers?

This is a really interesting place and if one has time do some more research. I also believe there is a documentry titled "Living without Laws" (among others) that may have captured his attention. I don't know.

"This bizarre, lawless land in the California desert is inhabited by drug addicts, eccentrics, army vets, hippies a.... "

Pretty clear to me too.

I've driven Texas to Cali before in 24 hrs (2 drivers though).

The fact that he stopped and spent the night in Mississippi (i had to sing the song to spell MS:)) tells me all I need to know about his state of mind.

At some point, Cummins reportedly admitted to disabling the GPS on his car and replacing his license plate with one from Alabama.

After leaving Decatur, they travelled to Birmingham and started heading west to Mississippi, staying in Mississippi for at least one night before heading northwest to Oklahoma. While there, they were caught on surveillance at two different Walmart stores.

From Oklahoma, Cummins and Thomas headed to Colorado where they began using aliases. The FBI agent says they presented themselves as John and Joann Castro, ages 40 and 24 respectively, a married couple. Cummins reportedly chose a Hispanic last name since their ultimate destination was Mexico.

Article also said his daughters would look after him and if he violated anything they would turn him in. Sorry, I find that hard to believe.

BBM- That's more fun than letting spellcheck take over. :singing:

Does anyone else find his handwriting extremely creepy? I don't know what it is but it just freaks me out.
It looks like he was nervous to me. He had a straight line in the curve for the heart, who does that?

Really sad, this girl was missing fatherly love and attention, Her mother was an oblivious mess and had no time for her. I believe she felt she was loved for the first time, and what did she have to lose by going ! He is selfish!! Thinking only of his wants, not that he was adding another layer of confusion to this young girls life!

Gawd, that penmanship! Did he write it with his FEET?

With trials in Florida, I expect things like this to be obtained by media. I'm shocked that with this case, in addition to being federal, that media is getting so much of this.

Question: Are they getting through the "sunshine laws" (I know it's not called that in that state, but saying for lack of better word),

and if it goes federal..

I would assume a tight lock on information and evidence down the road?

Or since state also, we can expect more to be released?

Bueller? Lawyers here?

Wish someone could "read" the writing and give the characteristics of what it shows.

I'll take a stab...

I'm so sorry (for what? what you've done or about to do?)
On my way to (someplace opposite of where I'm going)
To clear my mind of all this "crap" (well its true but I don't want you to know that tonight)
I'm not running away (opps Freudian?)
I'll be back (not)
Don't call police (pretty please for a few days)
They'll think I'm guilty (which I am but you know)
I love you (please don't call the cops I love you)
Call you soon (not)
Please forgive me (for what I've done or am about to do?)

And there is that special heart.

UGGGG.

How did I do:).

Yeah, that could be. His regular handwriting is pretty messy too (see pg 35 of this PDF) but being nervous probably made it even worse and more erratic.
