By going back to that first week, you see how the information has changed a couple of times.
The emergency scanner traffic gave some insight in those first moments:

The parents have called in advised that the mother had went for a walk, came home and now they
can't find her, they have been yelling for her, she has been gone for ten minutes now.

I am still so confused by this.
Yes, another confusing aspect to this case. It's also surprising that after living on the property for around 13 years CB still doesn't go into the surrounding woods because of her fear of snakes, bears and coyotes. That's an extreme fear IMO. But she did allow the boys to go into the woods so she must have been comfortable with it on some level. MOO.

Audio samplings from emergency scanner traffic on June 15, the night of Summer’s disappearance, capture personnel saying that Bly had gone for a walk.

Below is a transcription of the audio as authorities were called to Summer’s home on Ben Hill Road, courtesy of Broadcastify:

“You be in route to [address] off of Beech Creek it will the first resident on your right, in reference to a missing 4-year old. The parents have called in advised that the mother had went for a walk, came home and now they can’t find her, they have been yelling for her, she has been gone for about 10 minutes now.”

Authorities later learned that Summer was, in fact, 5 years old.

Bly told News Channel 11 on Monday, June 28 that she does not go on walks near their home.

“I don’t go on walks around here or runs, because I’m scared of the bears and snakes, and even the coyotes that are around here,” she said.

Wells said he is not sure why authorities thought Bly had been on a walk.

I am wondering about when children are taken from a home by CPS, not the boys in particular, but where do they go to school?

Do they get home schooled or go to public school?

If it is public school then I worry that kids can be so mean to them if they find out who they are.

Do they get to have visits from their parents?

Just asking because it is something that I know very little about.

If children are placed with foster parents they go to school where the foster parents live. In my experience most will go to the local public school and they are not identified as "foster children," just children that are new to the school.

In my state at least, parents will have scheduled and sometimes supervised visits. It depends on the parenting plan how often that happens. CPS will often schedule the visits and provide transportation and sometimes a parent "aid" to ensure the visits are productive and not harmful. Other relatives can have "optional" visits - the foster parents have to agree and bring the kids to visits with other relatives. I know foster parents who regularly agree to bring their foster child to visit grandparents but the state will not help or provide transportation for those visits - those are on the foster parents.

Do we know the name of their church? Am I allowed to ask that to see how long it would take to drive there?
In one of the CM videos (re)posted yesterday, CM drove that same route and I believe it took him about 22 minutes/28 miles.

ETA: Never mind - I was evidently mistaken about the church CW drove to.

I've always found it odd that CW suspects her daughter is missing and her first reaction is to hop in the truck and leave the scene.

The church she drove to was one near their house, not the one they attend in Kingsport.

Foster children attend public schools. I think they try to keep the children in the school they normally attend.

At the house my friend worked at (an emergency, temporary home for children taken by the state with very short term stays) one of her duties was helping the children with their homework.

They stated that CW had gone on a walk,
I have always thought that dispatch misunderstood CW. She probably had said "she walked over to the house and SW was gone, nowhere"

If you are referring to 6/15 when CW drove to the church searching for SW she only drove to the church closest to their home not the church they attend.
Oh, interesting, thank you. Why would she drive immediately to a church they don’t attend to find her missing daughter? Did they attend that in the past?

I dont think a dispatcher makes a mistake when the context is that different. ''I walked over to my house or I went for a walk.'' Two very distinctive situations and crucial for the officers en route.

Fully agree. If I were on a property like that and had my 5 year old go missing, my biggest fear would be that she was close by and injured and in danger. I would be desperate and hysterical to get her found immediately, before it was too late.

The thought that she might be found dead in the woods after a few days, leaving me to spend the rest of my life saying, She was right there, so close by, if she’d been found sooner she would have lived! would torture me.

I wouldn’t immediately insist that she’d been lured, abducted, and driven hundreds of miles away.

I simply couldn’t think of an innocent explanation for them saying this so early.

I can think of at least three:
1. The dogs tracked her scent down to the road and it ended there
2. There was a stranger in the immediate area who was having a dispute with a neighbor
3. Two neighbors heard screams

I hope any school they go to shelters, and protects them.

I wanted to jump in first thing and say that I am sorry that I did not respond to questions late yesterday. I have been diagnosed with BPPV, Positional Vertigo and the condition and the medication is really messing with me. Scrolling down threads sometimes sends me into spin mode. Going to a specialist next week to see if it is only BPPV which may resolve, or if it's Meniere's Disease.

Back to Summers case. I was curious about feral dog activity in the area is it does occur in all 50 states. NJ has had a horrible problem with feral dog packs back in the 70's, a town terrorized in 2020 and another town overrun this year. Texas had an serious attack on a human and a fatal attack on a human in 2016. How aggressive the pack is depends on it's mix. Results of an attack would be an area where there would be a lot of dog prints and pushed down undergrowth plus signs of a struggle, shoes and torn clothing, possibly bone fragments. The remains could be nearby or have been carried off to a den. It is far easier to spot an intact body than it is body parts and scraps of clothing, notably after this amount of time. There is also the possibility of an attack by one or more dogs on the property or on a neighbors property.

I did not bring this up on purpose early on as it is a horrible scenario, and frankly one I would rather not think about, but it is a possibility along with all the other scenario's.

Forgive me if I don't respond to further questions quickly as I work through my current situation. I will post as often as able.

Thank you for your post Trackergd. Your experience is so valuable to us.

So Sorry to hear you’re unwell…vertigo/labrynthitis is most unpleasant & debilitating & I can understand how scrolling through posts will be difficult.

Hope you are able to rest & make a speedy recovery x

If Summer had an accident, is it possible CBW’s initial instinct was to jump in a truck immediately to get help or take her to a hospital? Then was possibly talked out of doing that so as to not get in trouble? I’m assuming the dogs would have Summer’s scent in the car from earlier, so may not have been a difference? Just theorizing why maybe her initial instinct was to drive away from the property. JMO.

@MsMarple thanks I had written it down myself back then. But only the latter part.

So you tell the dispatcher you had gone for walk. But 13 days later that is changed to: "I don't go on walks around here."
I think @2.curious has the best explanation (in speculating) that CB told 911 something about how she walked Summer to the house then walked back to the trailer then walked back to the house and found her missing. It could be quite confusing to someone who wasn't at the scene. JMO if I was the dispatcher trying to ascertain relevant information I'd interpret it the same way. MOO.

Searchers and LE weren't there. DW drove so fast he beat them all home.
I think LE was there within minutes after he arrived, if not the same time. There may have been a police vehicle parked that he didn't see so maybe he just 'thought' he beat them there. He didn't immediately drive up the driveway to the house and I'm sure it wasn't long before there were people everywhere. They only had a couple of hours until nightfall so they needed to work quickly.

Anyway, what I meant was, when he first got the call from CW he probably assumed she was just lost or had gone somewhere and would be found quickly. So when he saw the boys still searching down by the creek after 45 minutes, the reality set in. Then as he saw more and more searchers, the dogs, and the roads blocked off, he realized the gravity of the situation.

So even if he did beat them home, it wasn't long before the property and the woods were filled with LE and searchers. He seemed to be both overwhelmed and impressed by that.

IMO

I think all of these options come from DW though. I could be wrong but I don't think I've heard LE confirm any of this.
