"Bly said this happened about two to three hours before she called and she also said she was afraid of Wells."

Is late reporting a thing for this family? She reported it to the cops 2 hours later. Trying to sober up maybe? Who knows.
BBM. Just guessing, but IWT they would tend to avoid the po-po at all costs. As such, the reluctance and delay in calling.

Amateur opinion and speculation

According to this news report someone called the police to the Well's home on Wednesday January 19th. The person heard fighting coming from the Well's home. Sound must travel well in those hills.

So someone else called the police or did CW?

The reporter also talks about other incidents at the Well's home and how they have been on podcasts yelling and screaming at each other.

He stated there are no new updates on the searching for SW.

I can't say for certain but I heard that too -- but I think the reporter simply reported it poorly.

I believe the call originated from within the home but dispatch could only hear fighting....

I don't think that neighbors heard fighting. IMO, the dispatcher did.

"A deputy responded to Ben Hill Road around 12:27 a.m. on January 19 following a 911 call in which Candus Bly accused Donald Wells of hitting her."

..."grabbed her by the throat and pushed her against the wall. Bly said she thought her thumb was broke and said it happened when she got grabbed by the throat and possibly hit it on the washing machine"

But also this:
"Bly spoke with Wells without any fear in the house. She also used her left hand to put her shoes on and while in her mother's camper, she used her left thumb to flick her cigarette, the deputy added."
"No marks were seen on Bly's neck and no bruising or swelling was seen on her thumb, according to the deputy. Hawkins County EMS said her thumb didn't appear broke and it appeared that she stubbed it."

Out of order of article:
"The deputy also reported that Bly said she was going to stay with her mother in the camper and went to the house to get some of her things. She spoke with Wells again without any fear and was acting like she was not afraid of him at the time, the deputy added."
Mother of missing Summer Wells accuses girl's father of assault: Police report

Are cracks forming in the foundation of trust? When did the grandmother return?

Marnie - Brian I want to start with the Summer Wells' case in Tennessee and the reason police were called back to that families home recently.

Brian - Yeah Marnie, police have been to that house before and they were back at the house on Wednesday. According to the police reports someone called 911, said that they heard fighting coming from the Well's home. When the deputies arrived they say that Candus Wells, Summers' mum said that Don Wells, Summers' dad, had hit her, put his hands around her neck and pushed her up against the wall. The deputy said they didn't see any bruises on Candus. She said that her thumb was broken, but they say they noticed her actually flick a cigarette with that thumb and that she was able to put her shoe on with that thumb. So after sort of investigating at the scene. No arrests were made.

Marnie - And Brian we do do know this isn't the first time that there have been fights at the Wells house, police have been called at other times, what are some of the other incidents that you're aware of?

Brian - Yeah there's a lot of drama that's happened at that house, Marnie. It was interesting because when we were there, talking to Don Wells the vibe was sort of that they were trying to calm things down and turn a new leaf and stop drinking. But there have been incidents, they've been on podcasts late at night yelling and screaming at each other with all sorts of noises in the background. So sadly this latest issue really doesn't come as a surprise.

Marnie - And all the while Summer is still missing. Are there any updates, any active searches happening near that property or elsewhere that you are aware of?

Brian - That's the saddest part of this whole thing there really are no new updates at this point. No searches that we know of so hopefully someone will see something and call authorities in Tennessee soon.

Mother of missing Summer Wells accuses girl's father of assault: Police report

Are cracks forming in the foundation of trust? When did the grandmother return?

Offhand, does anyone recall how many times we know the police have been called to the Wells property for "domestic" issues? What adults have been present each time?

I can think of:

1. Fight about lover boy. DW, CBW, CB (those grandmother's initials? I went blank).

2. Summer disappeared. CBW, CB

3. This most recent fight. Injuries claimed but not noted (like number 1.) CBW, CB, DW

I'm suddenly getting uncomfortable. JMO

Well, there are DW's bacjvyo back arrests, the first on 10/31/21 and 3 days later, DUI and a probation violation respectively.

Also... am I remembering a different 911 call? DV. End of August maybe? Or was that all just part of the pranked phone call?

Didn't Gma injure her knee in the first one you mentioned though?

ETA: IIRC Don allegedly pushed her out of the way.

Yes He went there: But there have been incidents, they've been on podcasts late at night yelling and screaming at each other with all sorts of noises in the background. Love Brian. No Bull. So glad he's covering Summer Moon Utah Wells case. MOO

Iirc it was CW who's knee was injured. DW Fell out of his trunk drunk. I don't understand how both were not arrested this time for their own good. Hope there won't be a next time, but not going to hold my breath on that. MOO

I dunno, would you consider CH a neighbor ? ;)

How does CPS handle cases where children are removed from a home where there are obvious signs of addiction ? Wouldn't drug and alcohol testing be a requirement for reunification ?

Agree with what you are saying, however add in DV and we have even more concern. I have no idea how I would behave should I have a missing 5 year old, child or grandbaby. The grief could drive a person crazy and do crazy things. However, no child should be in the care of an adult that is going through this. Not sure anyone has the solution, my best guess would be therapy for the adults.

Grandma's initials are CH. Her name is Candus Harer.

Summer's mother's initials are CB, CBW, or CW depending on who is writing. Candus Bly Wells is her name. In early news reports she was using Candus Bly.

I don't know if she has changed her mind and is going by CW.

As far as i know, CB/CBW/CW is married to DW. She calls him her husband. Common law marriage is not a thing in Tennessee. (Eta i think there might have been a report of the year and state where they married, but i don't recall where it was published, but it was years ago, obviously.)

I usually call Summer's mother CB because one of the early news reports said she went by that.
