trial day 37: the defense continues its case in chief #109

I might be divorced before this trial is over :giggle: My family are NOT happy campers either. Especially since the time change, here in the East it's on till 8pm or later!

It's quite a balancing act here, started watching the trial in Feb. and then found Websleuths. Between trying to get caught up on the trial, lurking here and making sure dinner is on the table when hubby gets home...I now have my "trial schedule" finely tuned! Thankfully, my husband is very interested in the trial and also wants justice for Travis and his beautiful family.

One of his comments "I wish the prosecution could blow a foghorn in the courtroom every time JA claims fognesia", (his impression of a foghorn when he sees JA is hilarious!) led to my nic here at WS. I have not posted much but want to thank you all for the informative and compassionate posts, I have learned a lot from this Juanderful group! My thoughts and prayers are with the Alexander family.

Slight confusion with the time stamps: at the 36:26 mark JM announces exhibit 156 which is timed-stamped 5:27:28 (different seconds but I'm sure that's the one you mean). It's not on the projector long enough for me to even tell what it is I'm afraid.

It's one of the two photos in the bottom right hand corner of the chart. As far as I can tell he is standing in both.

The above montage is very useful but whoever prepared it seems to have made a transcription error as one image is annotated with 5:27:18 (neither of the times above). But do you mean the one immediately before it?

The picture that bothers me the most is why is Travis sitting on the shower floor? I can't believe that Travis would take showers sitting down. There is no ledge to sit on in his tiny shower stall. That one bugs me a lot. I am thinking like some of you as well: she had to have been in control of Travis via a weapon at that point. It doesn't make sense otherwise.

JA is evil. Scary to even try to put myself in her head on any other day much less a day she set out to kill TA is such a way. I found a few words that both Samuels and JA used that I thought was an odd way to describe things. I figured maybe Nurmi coached one and then coached the other to have their stories fit with each other and certain words were repeated so much that those words now stuck with them. Main one was "fog".

BBM I know the feeling. Low carb dieting myself. Breakfast sucks b/c most breakfast foods are packed with carbs. While sitting here reading and watching trials sometimes a girl just needs some carbs, hard to resist but I have been good. As bad as I want that cinnamon roll ( thanks to all the cinnabon talk) I also want to be thinner by summer. Carbs to me are like cigarettes to others.

Doing the night shift all week, so only getting to see the opening session. Just now listening to the afternoon session with AVL. Doesn't sound like she has done more than lay down a tutorial on what dv looks like. I am interested in how much she knows about this relationship as a whole.

I also am reading here that there were no jury questions yet but they were definitely listening. I can't think they believe that JA was the victim here. They asked their own questions when JA got off the stand, some of them telling of what some of them are thinking.

In the end, JM will take his shot and blow the whole thing to shreds when it comes to JA. If ALV can not paint TA as the abuser as 'fact', but JA is sitting right there in the courtroom, there is definitely things that can be brought out the shows JA WAS. Then we will get the jury questions. Then we will know if this whole thing was even worth it for the defense.

As there are many things we have not been clued in about JA that the attny's know about that the jury doesn't, the letters (forged) about TA it makes me wonder if she did. If JA can go so far as to fake/forge letters regarding pedophillia and then try to let the family know thru her plea for 2nd degree that she would tell all, I mean everything she says is suspect or a lie.

ALV testimony is so broad and general I can't believe Juan won't get into the specifics.

Any big things that standout for anyone that I have missed so far????

1. Hello. My name is Matt. I was the Exec. Chef at the time that Jodie Arias was employed at Ventana Inn and Spa in Big Sur and began her relationship with Darryl Brewer. I heard on JVM that Darryl characterized that their relationship began after he was no longer her supervisor. That is a lie. Also, It was also stated on JVM that Jodie did not exhibit any violent behavior that he was aware of. I can... recall a specific incident with other witnesses when she did at Ventana Inn and Spa during her shift.
I bear no malice toward Jodie or Darryl. My objection to their relationship at that time was directly related to how Jodie manipulated the entire restaurant staff after her relationship with Darryl began and Darryl's culpability and in her manipulative behavior.

As a matter of fact, Darryl was promoted from Restaurant Manager to Food and Beverage Director during their relationship. The GM of the hotel at the time did not see their relationship as a problem despite the empirical evidence to the contrary. Eventually, Darryl did resign the F&B position, He stated his reasoning at the time was due to the amount of time he was spending away from his son. Darryl stayed on as a server for a short time and then, gave notice and left.

By the time the incident I referred to in my original post occurred, Jodie was well into her relationship with Darryl. Jodie had a disagreement with another server regarding switching her station for the lunch shift this particular day. The other server refused to change their assigned station. Jodie went into the women's employee bathroom, directly across a hallway from the shared restaurant/kitchen office, slammed the door shut, screamed and kicked a hole in the wall. The other manager and I heard the ruccus and asked if she was alright. She immediately opened the door to the woman's employee bathroom and was recalcitrant and apologized in her 'sweetest' voice. She obviously hadn't realized that anyone was in the office across the hall. She promised to get the hole in the wall fixed with her own money, etc., etc. The other manager and I had already realized that Jodie, due to her relationship with Darryl, was beyond reproach or reprimand for this or any other incident.

My daughter was interested but not so much now, when I try to talk to her about it her eyes glaze over. Yesterday's testimony was almost too much for me to hear.. I was simply too full of emotions and feelings that were painful and scary.
Her words were spot on in describing all the types of s**t a victim endures.
It is great that the world is being educated on how abusers manipulate, abuse and terrorize their victims - gaslighting, warning signs .. All of it...
But..
I simply cannot bear that this information:
Could send a false signal to abusers...
that they can pretty much get away with anything.
or
Send an incorrect message to true victims :
a) Don't bother to educate yourself, ask for help or attempt to tell anyone your story because your abuser has the jodi arias Nationally Aired DV EXPERT implying abusers are the actual victims and no one will believe you, especially if you are no longer here to tell your side of the truth.
b) Just kill your abuser to make it stop

To all TRUE VICTIMS..
There ARE healthy alternatives and resources.
There IS HELP.
YOU DO HAVE A VOICE!

Never give up!!!
Document EVERYTHING!!!!
Document EVERYTHING!!!!
Document EVERYTHING!!!!

If you have children...
Know that they will be affected by DV..
but also know
The cycle of abuse... CAN be broken..
It may be a long tough road for some..

But NEVER give up!

Validate your childrens experiences.
Give them their opportunity to know THE CHAIN CAN BE BROKEN.
Acknowledge their DV experience, and definately let them know what happened is NOT OK, that abusive actions and behaviors are not healthy or acceptable!

Be the best power of example to your children as you can be...
Have them spend time with people and familys that practice HEALTHY behviors and Healthy relationships so they will know what HEALTHY looks like.

An average 200 lbs person wouldn't choose nor even agree to sit in a tiny shower stall for that Calvin Klein moment! Give me a friggin break. I swear, Jodi is a walking insult to my intelligence.


I absolutely believe Travis was at gunpoint the entire time. Perhaps the entire day. But those shower photos (especially coming from a quasi-professional as Jodi claims she was) look very impromptu and covert (and Travis, startled as shown below)

I don't think Travis even KNEW Jodi was even in the bathroom----- let alone house.

Listening to the testimony from yesterday.....I am sure she is an expert in her field and she is doing a fine job.....but WHEN CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE COLD BLOODED MURDER of Travis Alexander by Ms. Arias? The jury has to be scratching their eyeballs out by now....IMHO, this is going to do nothing to explain Ms. Arias' behavior.....oh wait a minute is she talking about Travis being the abused, perhaps?

For those paying attention we realize by now, sprinkled within the web of lies there lays (lies?) some twisted truth.

I personally thought Jodi's redundant proclamation to Travis' enjoyment to Spiderman might've come from her ex (much older) boyfriend Daryl's son. I thought perhaps this little 10 year old boy was seen wearing such clothing and Jodi took that truth, twisted in the lie, then called it her own.

But now.....here is a photo of Travis wearing the exact underwear that Jodi is using against him. I hope Mr Martinez sees this as I have, and uses it somehow to remind the jury just how sick and dangerous Jodi Ann Arias is in this world.
I sincerely mean this when I say it: Death will be a step up in Jodis' spiritual evolution because her soul is stuck on scary here on Earth!

I also wonder too if he was so used to her moods, wrath, and nut-job self that sometimes he just did what she asked because it was the path of least resistance. So if she tells him to "sit" he does because it isn't worth it to argue or question.

Just when I think I can't feel any sorrier for poor Travis, I do.

Is there any documentation available to indicate that ALV interviewed Jodi? I've heard talking heads say more than once that ALV hasn't ever met with Jodi. If she did interview JA, how much time did the domestic violence specialist spend with Jodi? Did she provide a written report regarding her findings? It would seem to me that someone as experienced as ALV in this field should/would realize that Jodi was not a victim of domestic abuse. Based on her testimony yesterday, ALV isn't talking about Jodi: Everything that she has said thus far relates to Travis as the victim of Jodi's abuse.

After reviewing these photos again, I am changing my mind about what was happening in the shower. Previously, I felt like he was posing for Jodi because he wanted to. Now, I think he was at gun point/knife in most of the photos. I think at some point she did threaten him and told him how to pose with the shower door open. That shower is small compared to mine at home and when my door is open, water gets on the floor outside the shower. As others have stated before, Travis was very neat and would not have had the shower door open.

Newbie here. I've been lurking for awhile and joined recently. I'm glad you brought this up because someone on the IS FB page provided a link to the picture of Travis sitting in the shower and questioned the silver object in the bottom right hand of the photo. They wondered if it was the barrel of a 25. Has this been discussed previously? If so I apologize, but there's so much info on here I wouldn't know where to look. Here's a link to the picture.
