Yes, that's true. A mitigation specialist is something else completely. A mitigation specialist usually has a background in social work, is sometimes also a paralegal, and consults about what type of mitigation evidence should be produced in the penalty phase. They are not witnesses.

Alyce was hired to be a witness in the mitigation phase, and then later was added as a witness in the guilt/innocence phase also.

OMG, if she's till on board to be the witness in the mitigation phase, JA and her team must really be sweating bullets now.
