She's a modern day ALV. She is self-assured and can give straight answers.

I think she might have her guard up since this is a extremely high profile case.

There's a thin line between the two, but she seemed a smidge arrogant to me. However, she made Alyce and Samuels look like psychology school dropouts. This young woman has accomplished more in her short life than both of them combined. JMO

BTW, I'm watching Juan's direct right now on NG and she doesn't seem arrogant. It must have been when JW came up and didn't know anything.

I think JW needs to tread lightly on the age thing because I could see younger jurors not being amused. This woman is clearly capable of doing her job and age doesn't seem to affect that.

Hey listen up all you youngsters. I am a few years older than ALV and I AM NOT amused! LOL

Age does not qualify/disqualify credibility - only education and experience can do this, along with, of course, the ability to apply the two.

Wilmot's not keping up here. She has no reason to be mad or snarky at DD. JM had reason to be upset because Samuels and laviolette gave Jodi books, apologized to her, we're caught in lies and other reprehensible acts. Wilmott doesn't understand she needs to catch DD in something unethical before getting upset. Bizarre

Have you noticed, though, that she and Nurmi are in constant competition/imitation of Juan Martinez?

Here JW is trying to "get back at" the State for shredding ALV's CV. She also made that sarcastic "Let's get this out of the way, Ms. Laviolette: Do you have a problem with your memory?" Snarky, yes. Useful? no.

I loved how Juan passed the witness 45 minutes before the end of the day--that was something JW did many times. Too bad she wasted all that time barking up the wrong CV!

about his work. He is not there to exchange pleasantries or chit chat. He shows he's all about business as opposed to the DT who has no problem wasting everyone's time and keeping witnesses on the stand beyond any rational need. I think Juan knows this jury is OVER IT and needs this case to be ended. The DT seems unable to appreciate that or tailor their presentation in any way to their audience.

Nice replay what I missed earlier..

Btw notice JM treats his witness just like DT's experts??

I have been waiting 38 days for this moment...the moment that the truth is spoken from the witness box to fly in the face of the murderer Jodi Arias and her unprofessional legal team...GOD BLESS THE TRAVIS ALEXANDER FAMILY!!

It was amazing to watch her destroy 38 days of defense witness' in about a half hour, and I'm being kind with that approx. time.

She's certainly arrogant but she can back it up and has earned the right IMO. Unlike alyce who was overcompensating for her lack of knowledge and meaningful experience...

And what was JW doing in 1980? And does she realize how out of touch that makes ALV sound?:floorlaugh:

Psychosis is a total mental break with reality. If she were truly psychotic, she would not be able to assist her defense, and we would likely not be here. (Andrea Yates or Dena Schlosser are very synonymous with psychosis.)

Bipolar is the new term for manic depression. Many people experience depression - though bipolar is obviously an extreme variant - it's very treatable with the right course of medication and/or therapy.

Borderline is one of the Cluster B personality disorders. I don't know nearly as much about BPD as I do antisocial or narcissistic, so I'll keep it as generic as possible. Personality disorders are highly resistant to treatment because the afflicted personality often externalizes blame (everything is everyone else's fault, always); they're very prone to utilizing manipulation on those around them; they can be deceitful, abusive, and sometimes extremely selfish. Many also often lack empathy or appear callous. Some can be impulsive, risk-takers, and criminalistic. More specific to BPD, in the little I know, they often have unstable relationships, a deep fear of abandonment, anxiety, depression, detachment, withdrawal, etc. (In just my jaded, biased opinion - it doesn't get more serious than PD. The treatment options aren't great, no known cure, and it deeply affects all those surrounding the afflicted person too - often without them even knowing what's causing the person they love to choose to act irrationally and sometimes even violently.)

TMK, it's rare for a Cluster B to be in and of itself, by itself. Very often, people afflicted are comorbid with a vast array of possibilities. I think it very likely Jodi's comorbid too - but probably exhibits BPD traits most consistently and/or acutely.

(All MOO and honestly not meant to offend anyone.)

During one of my sister's periods of hospitalization when family input was encouraged, I spoke to the psychiatrist about my sister's narcissism. The doctor was aware of some traits based on individual and group therapy, but was not aware of how ingrained my sister's narcissistic traits had been ingrained since childhood. I mentioned earlier today that, as the baby of the family, my sister was doted upon and spoiled by parents, siblings, and many others who thought that "she was just too cute for words". This led to her feelings of superiority and entitlement within the family and beyond. One behavioral disorder is prominent with some features of other disorders that are considered secondary. :moo:

Somebody looked like the village idiot while in court today. Not a good move.:what:

So Jodi's IQ is 119 ...slightly above average but no Einstein.

I thought JM's rebuttal case would be strong, but this is amazing. JW will need to stay up all night trying to find a nick in her armor.

She did sound really hurt and sad..jmo

Maybe if she looked at the pictures of what Jodi did to Travis, she wouldn't be so protective of Jodi and come on these talk shows with childhood pictures trying to elicit sympathy for a cold-blooded killer.

Just MHOO

I think she was fairly pleasant until JW tried to make her look like a country bumpkin who found her degrees in a dumpster.

THEN her answers started getting a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle bit crisp. lol

Hehe, I like that description! just sayin' =P

Interesting...that's right next to Victorville, the town mentioned in an article about Juan Martinez. I think he went to HS there & was a runner? It's in an article about the Falater trial in the AZ Republic.

Funny how JW can only try to imitate Juan Martinez--today she tried to cut down Dr. Demarte with her CV. Is she taking crazy pills? That only works when your witness is lying about her CV, when she pads things and embellishes. Like ALV! Good example!

She was totally condescending and rude--and it came off badly on JW, not Dr. Demarte. JW needs to bring her voice down a notch, too. It comes off very shrill and sarcastic.

Good day for Travis!:great:

She reminds me of a wind-up toy that's wound too tight..and Nurmi sounds like he's all wound down. Except there doesn't seem to be a middle..
