Since you want to add cars and trains to your scavenging homeless, maybe you ought to consider other forms of transportation accident -- bicycle? boat? airplane? bungee jump? stilts?

Why we could go on forever!

You could never go this far:

"After a forest fire in one of the Greek islands in the Agean Sea, they found a dead diver, complete with equipment and suit, in the forest. Further investigation revealed that he was fishing in the sea when a fire helicopter picked him up in its bucket. After the autopsy, they concluded that the diver actually was still alive when the helicopter dumped him on the fire. But the fire was strong, and the cause of death was severe burns and choking."

Hello, all. I am brand new to this forum and just figuring my way around, though I have followed all three threads avidly for weeks now. Seems like a good crowd here, and glad to make your acquaintances!

I speak/read a few languages (not Turkish) and read a lot of foreign press accounts, especially French ones, and just wanted to mention that yesterday I found a French news article mentioning that three Armenian women had been attacked (not sure if killed, but attacked) in the same area Sarai went missing, in recent weeks. The French press was going on about how Turkey wouldn't necessarily consider three Armenian women gone missing being a big deal (internal politics), but a murdered American woman could seriously harm the Turkish tourism industry, not to mention Turkish-American relations. I have no idea, really, though I live in Europe part-time, and have traveled there extensively (though not much to Turkey), whether I place any credence on the French point of view, but I will say that it was the first mention I'd heard of three other recent attacks in the very same area.

I will try to find a link and post it, in case any of you speak French (or I can translate it), but as I said I am new as f a half-hour ago to this forum and floundering a bit with the technicalities.

Oh come on lol don't discount his theory too much, because what if she was pushed into the train in a struggle?

It's so ludicrous, it's hard to discuss seriously...

It's a pretty long way from the train tracks to where her body was found. And I imagine there'd be physical evidence at the tracks and on the train itself. And her injuries -- so they said -- were caused by a beating and repeated blows to the head. So why are we talking about trains?

Anyone have the Istanbul train schedules for Jan 21? I'd rather study those than watch The Grammys

And I thought Taylan was the unluckiest man alive!

How far is it from the train tracks to where her body was found?

It is a level walk?

What does one go through/over on the way there?

How does it compare with going from the street to the final resting place?

Welcome!!

Please do post the links -- I'm fluent in French (unlike my google-translated Turkish)...I'd love to see the stories.

He still is. That's an urban legend.

Listen, I totally get that Ockham's Razor is usually the best approach. In this case, however, all of the simple theories have major holes. If we can IMAGINE a scenario, so can a killer. Some scenarios obviously deserve more exploration than others, but honestly, we're all shooting rubber bands at stars right about now.

(and before CMac2 says it, yes, I'm a music geek.)

Hi, welcome.

The case about three Armenian women is a sad one. It is not in the same area and I don't think they are related. Few english links:

I think the one thing I'm fairly set on are the wounds we've heard of, and ultimately what killed her, and a loose theory of how - the head wound. I just don't see anything as far as a car/train accident happening. I don't recall reading any suggestions that law enforcement has any inclination that she was harmed in anyway other than what has come out in the media.

Thanks for joining us!

And thanks for the post. I had not heard about the Armenian women - but a few others, though. The more I hear about the area, the more that I think it could be random.

I do think Sarai was street-savvy. But considering it was her last day in Istanbul and (I believe) she was focused on inner turmoil and/or the experiences she had had (e.g., Tarkan/Taylan) and may have even been looking for him that day -- she may have been more vulnerable than usual. Maybe not paying as much attention, maybe looking around more like a tourist if looking for Tarkan/Taylan, maybe distracted by her own thoughts, etc.

I don't know - but the Black Keys, Dr John and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band are pretty good right now... :rocker:

I apologise if I've given false information. I was going on experience of the last 3 phones my turkish husband has bought in Turkey and the last 2 I have bought there (the last being purchased August 2012, although, admittedly in a different part of the country).

All I know is that when I was there this past summer for 3 months, I walked into a turkcell purchased a simple talk/txt phone, and when I needed more credits, I would buy a card, you call a number put in the number on the card, and load more credits on the card. I never had to show a passport or register it.

When I lived there for a year, 4 years ago it was the same.

I don't know how it is if you have a phone plan.

ToutCa, everytime I see your name, I pronounce it with a French accent. I'm from a region of Louisiana (Acadiana) where French is spoken by many.

What's even more surprising than Turkish police allocating more resources to Sarai Sierra than the Armenian women (Turkish citizens) is that French Press have chosen to only pick out the two Armenian women out of the current toll of 2600 missing and 1900 unsolved homicide cases in Turkey.

Hypocrisy knows no bound.
