The pic of his FB profile of the AR-15 looked like it had a custom scope added onto it
[FONT="]According to CBS News, he was court-martialed and dishonorably discharged in May 2014.I just read this. Do we know why?
Yes he dropped his rifle but he may have had another gun in the car. Who knows.
OH~~~totally agree~~~I was responding to the call for gun control on this thread. I don't agree, and BTW~~hubby is a veteran too.

Not good enough. His killing 26 people instead of 50 is not good enough for me, sorry. None of those people should have died. Not. One.
Guess he had a connection to the community...

According to The Daily Beast, Kelley was married and Kelleys mother-in-law listed a P.O. box in Sutherland Springs as a mailing address. San Antonio police reportedly raided Kelleys home on Sunday evening he briefly taught at a summer Bible school.

I'm a little confused. You agree but you don't agree? Your hubby is a veteran like me?
Veteran is someone who served. Whether discharged dishonorably or not, it still just describes that he served.
With the weapons inside his vehicle sounds like killer had a bigger plan!
This is 100% speculation on my part. I'm just putting some parts together. Perhaps he was a practicing, devout Christian. Married with a child. Maybe his marriage fell apart, his wife went home to mom and took the baby. It's possible that at this point he blamed God and decided to hit back at the church. Just a guess on my part. Trying to make sense of the senseless.
And he wasn't stopped until after he left the site, where he had killed 26 people, so not very effective. Could also possibly hinder investigation of the massacre.

But I’m pretty sure with a **dishonorable discharge** you do not get Veterans benefits or priority of service.
Really one wouldn’t even want to list their military service on their resume or job application for instance if you’ve been **dishonorably discharged**. It is that significant.
Generally, in order to receive VA benefits and services, the Veteran’s character of discharge or service must be under other than dishonorable conditions (e.g., honorable, under honorable conditions, general).
However, individuals receiving undesirable, bad conduct, and other types of dishonorable discharges may qualify for VA benefits depending on a determination made by VA.
