The pic of his FB profile of the AR-15 looked like it had a custom scope added onto it

With him wearing tactical gear, my mind raced to the Missy Bevers case. Both done in Texas, too, in a church.

IMOO.

Yes he dropped his rifle but he may have had another gun in the car. Who knows.

Indeed:

An official with the San Antonio Police Department said their bomb squad was dispatched to search the shooter’s vehicle for explosives. Authorities said they found multiple weapons in the vehicle.
Federal authorities, including from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI, are on the scene. The Texas Ranger Division of the state’s Department of Public Safety also is involved in the investigation.

Trusting Texas Town Devastated by Horrific Church Shooting
by Phil McCausland

Sutherland Springs is home to a post office, two gas stations, a Dollar General store and, now, one of the deadliest shooting rampages in American history.

The small, tight-knit community of about 400 people lies in a rural corner of South Texas, an area known for the annual peanut festival in nearby Floresville that was held last month. But on Sunday, more than two dozen people between the ages of five and 72 were killed by a lone gunman at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, officials said...

My heart goes out to all the victims of course. The little children. How do they process this horror. Difficult enough for adults. In minutes lives were changed forever.

With the weapons inside his vehicle sounds like killer had a bigger plan!

Not good enough. His killing 26 people instead of 50 is not good enough for me, sorry. None of those people should have died. Not. One.

And he wasn't stopped until after he left the site, where he had killed 26 people, so not very effective. Could also possibly hinder investigation of the massacre.

Guess he had a connection to the community...

According to The Daily Beast, “Kelley was married and Kelley’s mother-in-law listed a P.O. box in Sutherland Springs as a mailing address. San Antonio police reportedly raided Kelley’s home on Sunday evening…he briefly taught at a summer Bible school.”

This is 100% speculation on my part. I'm just putting some parts together. Perhaps he was a practicing, devout Christian. Married with a child. Maybe his marriage fell apart, his wife went home to mom and took the baby. It's possible that at this point he blamed God and decided to hit back at the church. Just a guess on my part. Trying to make sense of the senseless.

I'm a little confused. You agree but you don't agree? Your hubby is a veteran like me?

I agreed that 1 victim is one too many!

I don't believe that that gun control is the answer.

Yes, hubby is vet like you!

Thank you for your service!!!

Veteran is someone who served. Whether discharged dishonorably or not, it still just describes that he served.

But I’m pretty sure with a **dishonorable discharge** you do not get Veterans benefits or priority of service.

Really one wouldn’t even want to list their military service on their resume or job application for instance if you’ve been **dishonorably discharged**. It is that significant.

It sounds to me like his end game was to exit this earth today - one way or another. I suspect he never counted on Neighbor Dude showing up, but he did, and that was the end of that. Tragic day for all directly affected.

On this link (although not confirmed but MSM {yet}) there was a guy in the comment section who said he lived up the street, and the MIL went to church there.

So are you saying the neighbor shouldn't have even tried?

With a dishonorable discharge, the shooter shouldn't have passed a background check. I wonder how he acquired multiple weapons. The brave neighbor who shot him may have prevented further deaths as he had more weapons in his car. Unless the shooter left a journal or confided in someone, we may never know what his plans were. All MOO.

No, he would likely not be eligible for any benefits. The only thing he would be able to use would be his experience.

Generally, in order to receive VA benefits and services, the Veteran’s character of discharge or service must be under other than dishonorable conditions (e.g., honorable, under honorable conditions, general).

However, individuals receiving undesirable, bad conduct, and other types of dishonorable discharges may qualify for VA benefits depending on a determination made by VA.
