Does red tape have any different qualities than black or some other color? I mean, why are there different colors? LG said that KG had several kinds, I'm thinking they have different uses. Who, specifically, would have red tape around?

The red tape I have is specific for the plastic moisture barrier sheets. It is incredibly sticky and quite thin. It's about as wide a roll of duct tape, but peels off almost see through. Someone who installs insulation would likely have red tape.

I always have a huge box too! I use them for any messy job.... From cat litter , dyeing hair to mixing ground meat for burgers.
Yep. I'm looking at a small pile of about 8-10 gloves in a basket next to my desk. We always have a box in the bathroom cabinet, and I'll keep a few pairs here and there around the house to use for a variety of tasks, like the ones you mentioned. I prefer them for routine cleaning jobs over those clumsy Playtex rubber gloves. lol

RSBM &RBBM from Greenpalm's excellent work:

D - Another neighbor said there were signs that something was not right at home. She was gardening when she heard the girl shouting for help. She was stuck in the tree in her front yard. Alanna told her, “Strangers are not to be in my yard. You are not allowed in my yard.” D described Alanna as a “spitfire.”
recalls the mother saying, “I bet she’s over at a neighbor’s home, she always does this.” http://www.dallasnews.com/news/metro...naw-street.ece

Hmmmm...

Have you ever been around kids who are hyperactive? I mean REALLY hyperactive? My oldest son is extraordinarily intelligent. (Not just bragging he really is), the trouble all his life has been that HE GETS BORED INSTANTLY.

Let me tell you what, I use to lay in bed at night and say to God, "You MUST have known what you were doing when you gave him to me because anyone else would have shipped him somewhere by now!"

He was into EVERYTHING. Nonstop. Go, go, go, talk, talk, talk.

I thank God every day that I went on to have more children because they are 'normal'.

Even the best of us can have our patience tried with children like this. Just a thought.

(When my son was about 7 or so he would wait until he could see our elderly VERY NOSEY neighbor lady in her garden and then he would stand in the kitchen and holler, "ABUSE!! ABUSE!!").

His greatest life's self-entertainment is cuing in on what people's weakness are or something they are uncomfortable with and then using that in conversation to get a 'rise' out of them. He's amazing at it. I just wish he could make some MONEY at it.

I get this. When my very smart, very gifted child was in 2nd grade, I went to a parent teacher conference, 6 months pregnant. I knew the teacher had several kids and asked her for advice on how to ease the sibling rivalry. She said "The only I advice I have for you is to pray that the 2nd one is just average. Two geniuses will kill you." No such luck, btw. ;) The youngest will scream at you to stop touching her when you are 2 feet away, just to get the other parent to come running.

Me too! I have freakishly small hands and those rubber gloves never fit! I did find a great pair of suede childrens' gardening gloves...at Lowes,

One last thought before I attempt to sleep...

(MEN ~ OH ....PAUSE) it's awful.

~ I would think that certainly in a GLANCE the FBI specialists would be able to tell if the red tape that was taken into evidence from the Taurus matched the 'alleged' red tape used to bind this poor child.

Going on that alone, I'm sure if the tape matched they'd have had those folks in custody already.

And that worries me.

Let's hope tomorrow brings some closure to this horrible thing.

Tape is not unique. Even if it was the exact same type of tape, that's not enough for an arrest.

I'm so hungry for info at this point id settle for one of those body language specialists or a statement analysis person...

Isn't tape like trash bags and wallpaper and they can compare lots?

Is that (Dailymail) an unreliable source?

The latter was my understanding until I saw this today.
The reporting can be sketchy, but the photos are wonderful.

The statement does say "evening". I don't recall -- do we know? -- what time KG arrived home after work, but mom was home around 4. Probably at some point between 6-ish and 7:15, all three were home.

Police say the Gallaghers and McDaniel were all home while Alanna played outside alone on the evening of July 1.

I have seen where trash bags have been matched to a lot and then to the tear pattern in a box in a home, so perhaps something similar can be done with a roll of tape these days. JMO.

No, but if there is a unique tear pattern than can be matched from the tape on Alanna to a specific roll in an individual's possession, it might be a start!

Yes, if they can match the ends, that would be a good clue.

I have just about every color of duct tape they make and red is what I use the most. My grand-daughter and I use it to make DUCT TAPE ROSES.

But Alanna most likely wouldn't have been playing outside at that time.

Sadly we know that she was not out having fun with friends at that time. Her parents thought she was outside playing though.

I wonder if her parents had heard on the news about the childs body being found and that was the cause of looking for her to make sure all their little ducks were home safe for extra cuddle time.

LOL, I was just posting something similar! At the very least, it might give investigators a direction.

I wonder if they may have suspicions but no probable cause. Maybe that's why they're seeking witnesses to confirm that either one or both of the drivers in the black cars were acting suspiciously. Usually, even if it's frustrating, I can reason why LE operates in a certain manner. This case is truly baffling.

I believe they matched the duck tape found on a gas can in the Caylee Anthony case.

It's certainly possible to match ends of hand torn duct tape. (Shades of Casey Anthony ) Even without the fabric strands, the same might be possible with a hand torn electrical tape is the edges are jagged enough.

End matches between two torn pieces of duct tape can be established based on both the alignment of the tear in the backings, as well as the alignment of the severed yarns comprising the fabric reinforcement along the margin of the tear
