I'm quite the texter myself, so I'm trying to put this in perspective from my experience. Like let's say I'm meeting up with friends and I pull up in the parking lot...I usually text and say, hey I'm here. Are you here yet? etc and let's say they let me know they are inside. So I respond saying okay... then when I get in maybe I'm looking around and don't see them so I might text and ask where they are and they say in the corner by the statue of Elvis or whatever.... so I see them and that's that.
Put my phone away and we don't text anymore because of course I'm WITH them and that would be silly since we are face to face. Why would you continue to text someone who is right in front of you. That's silly, right?
Add to this the possibility of my phone going dead , and I guess I really wouldn't be bothered with texting anymore. This type of thing actually happened the other Friday at happy hour. A friend of mine arrived at the table and she was concerned because her phone battery was dying. I offered her my charger and for some reason she refused. We were even sitting right by an outlet, so go figure. But her phone was dead and she just went ahead with our happy hour.
