I am a top producing real estate agent in NY. I can shed some light on the profession. Realtors are self-employed. They have no obligation to share their schedule with their office or be in the office any particular time unless they are working floor duty. I speak to many of my clients by text message. It is much easier and it keeps a record of the conversation to refer back to.
If I had an appt in the morning and the kids school got cancelled, I would have called my client and explained the predicament. I would have asked if they would prefer to reschedule or would they be ok with me bringing the kids. Every time, the client would say to bring the kids, they look forward to meeting them.
In NY, we mainly use electronic lock boxes. An electronic key (E-key) is required to open the lockboxes on homes. My e-key is on my cell phone. The real estate office or the local board of realtors should be able to log in to Crystal's e-key to see the last time it was used (assuming they use them in Texas).
Also we use 2 main appointment services to set up real estate showing appts. I don't know if they use them in Texas but checking in with them to see when her last appts were could lead to a clue.
I have seen mention of possible competition in real estate being a reason for her disappearance. I find it highly unlikely. In all my years in real estate, I have never seen competition become so heated that could lead to something like this.
All in my opinion.
