Good question. To be fair to mom, maybe he was at home, and slipped out without her knowing.

Sadly, I doubt it.
IMO, according to MSM the Mom was with the alleged murderer when LE was at the home investigating. IMO.
Evidently she and the alleged murderer returned in a vehicle, when LE was at the home investigating. IMO

Something does not feel "right" about the Mother in this case, even though she is considered a victim. IMO

I hope that I am wrong, though. Either way she must be in immense pain.

I'd provide a MSM link, however my computer is acting up and my links not working well.

Suspect in Texas cop-killing had prior mental evaluation

http://www.wtsp.com/story/news/2015...killing-had-prior-mental-evaluation/71487440/

Miles' criminal history includes an arrest in 2012 following a fight at a homeless shelter he was staying at in Austin.

Joe Frederick, a prosecutor with the Travis County District Attorney's Office, said Miles was found to be mentally incompetent in October 2012 after being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was sent to North Texas State Hospital in Vernon, Texas.

Frederick says Miles was declared competent in February 2013, but the charge was dropped against Miles after the victim could not be located.

This was over kill given how many shots this poor man took. Pure hatred and anger IMO. I just dont understand. My heart hurts for the Family and those that loved him :rose:

I did see him in Court today and did think this guy has some issues. Will he pass the Legal benchmark?......

I wonder if federal hate crimes charges will be filed?

I wonder if the White House or President has called Mrs. Goforth to express condolences?

I wonder if the White House will send representatives to Officer Goforth's funeral?

My sense is that the answer to all three will be "no." If anything is said at all, they will say it's an issue for the State of Texas to handle.

They'll probably say it was "workplace violence."

Thank you for the link and reminding me to try and keep an open mind.

This other option for the "why's" or motive; does not negate the vicious, brutal cold blooded murder of a LEO in any way shape or form.

It does not negate the vicious, brutal, cold blooded murder of one of our own; a human being.

Nor will it do anything to help the family, loved ones, friends and community with their loss, grief and suffering.

In a sick and twisted manner, I'd prefer this as a "why's"/motive instead of what I've been pontificating about for days.

Thanks again.

I think both things might be true. [1] SM had a mental health issue. [2] He hated LE and his hatred was amped up by BLM and social activists etc.

If you own a hand gun in Ont. Canada. Take the required courses. And pass all the intense checks as laws are crazy strict. Your hand gun will be in a locked box. Unloaded. Your ammo will be in a separate locked box. If you are going to travel with your hand gun it will only be to the gun range. Cuz that would be the only reason. You will travel with all in your trunk and gun and ammo separate. You submit your route with LE in advance with times etc. and you do not stop for a bag of milk. You have deviated your route. If LE kows u have a hand gun they have the right to enter your house anytime to check you are abiding the laws of storage. Without a warrant. We have many guns in our house as we have a duck hunting field we rent out. Different laws but guns must be locked up and ammo. Just some food for thought.

There is risk of not being able to respond quickly if your gun (that's in your own home) is not loaded, nearby & ready to go!
Those who break in & want to do harm will not wait for one to piece it all together to defend oneself.

At least that's what is being taught in the pistol - permit classes I've attended in the States.

Reducing the chances you'll use it to kill or be killed by loved one, and reducing the chances someone else will get ahold of it to shoot you, a loved one, or a member of LE.

IMO they're called sensible gun laws because they make sense.

Yeah that's why we have a state of the art security system. We keep a steel bat by the bedside. Not that we felt we needed to defend our lives cuz break ins are typically unarmed. We had a break in up our street a few months ago. Duct taped them and stole their paintings. That's what we are used to. I feel for others who live so different. Truly I do.

They make sense unless you are someone that needs a weapon at the ready. Many cops feel concerned about being followed home by perps they have arrested. It has happened to many of them.

My neighbors own a jewelry store and had a violent home invasion in their previous home. The husband was badly injured. Now they have loaded weapons in a few key places in their home.

We have a member on here whose daughter has been threatened by a violent ex, who says he is coming after her and their kids , even though she has a restraining order. He is a violent criminal who uses drugs and is crazy. I think she has a 'sensible' reason to have a weapon close by, that is out of reach of her babies, but handy enough if he makes good on his threats. How many caes here have we seen of violent ex boyfriends who killed their families? WAY TOO MANY

Oh no! How awful for them. :( I'm glad they're okay.

I live in a very safe area (of TO) and I know I'm fortunate. I've lived in areas that were more dangerous, where I had everything double-locked and slept with my phone. Here when I get scared I keep a goalie stick in the bedroom.

ETA: I feel for others too. As panicky as I get at night I know it's nothing compared to what people really have to deal with in certain parts of the world. I wish we could all feel safe.

Yes, we are really living differently in the States right now & there's no quick fix, for sure.
It really is the craziest I've ever seen now!
Terrible....

Yes. So we choose to call LE rely on our alarms. We dont live that life. It breaks my heart so many do and so many of my Family.

Back when I was younger, burglaries meant the perps waited until no one was home. I can deal with that. But now many of them want you to be home.
